Years ago, a stranded motorist stopped in front of my house late at night with an overheating problem. I made a thermostat gasket out of an old paper milk carton, used 2 layers, and worked fine, and they made it back to Ohio.

Thing is Finnegan is a nice guy and has always been a fan of people that do this sorta thing, it's really the race commentator that was being a real dick but i wouldn't blame Finnegan for that.
@@lalnablehector1285 Finnegan got big then quit. Gave over everything to cotten and whatshisname. No respect to finnegan. Boooo!! 👎👎 James is the bomb diggity.
How hasn't this channel popped off to a million subs yet? It's coming. Once you hit somebody's feed any they shout you out-- you're gunna be huger than huge. Best videos.
You make things like cleaning up the engine, dressing it with an intake, carb and pan and headers seem quick. Having done it I know it's a lot of hours of fun.
*Eye-crometer!* 🤣 I got a good laugh from that James! That pickup screen was pretty clogged for sure! 😦 Glad you removed the oil pan. Enjoyed the video very much 🙂👍 Hopefully you can find a buyer soon. Take care, be safe and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
I love everything about this, save for the fact that I can't buy it. Just found your channel. Love your obvious skills and ability to 'just make it work' attitude. It's a great combination.
I am 80, and that was how I reversed rims in the late 50s and early 60s. I never bothered to reverse the fill valves, but that was only a minor inconvenience. They looked good enough, that two of them were stolen out of the box of my pickup. I call that good enough. Fun video.
Really like your channel. Great humor, creativity and git-er-doneness in all your videos and website. Sadly, no Low-Buck Buggy stickers or merch to be found...
This has become my favorite UTube channel Reminds me of some of the stuff I used to do in the mid 50s when I had more time than money. Had an uncle who had his own garage and built and modified farm equipment, old trucks and autos - was my "hero" growing up. Keep having fun !
In the early '70s, I bought a 1956 Willys CJ-5. At that time, larger, wider wheels weren't available. The next best thing was to do exactly as you did. Punch out the rivets and find a wider car wheel to weld it to. Later, farm implement wheels were made with the Jeep bolt pattern. Unfortunately, the tire selection was kind of slim. You could get wide tires, but the tread was only 8" wide. They looked funny. A big fat sidewall and skinny tread design.
Here I am going back watching some of your earlier videos. Al I ca say is thank you for being a bit above average in the looks department (we’re tied) because you are WAY smarter than most of us in the “how to” department! You sir are my favorite YT automotive how to channel. I watch dozens of these web sites and you are heads and shoulders better than every other one! I thank you and the others for the ideas you offer. I’m pretty good on the body and paint aspects(won a bunch of car shows and had a few well known people comment and or buy my vehicles, but you are special. Thank you!
Don't ever change, 'Buck' - plenty of laughs and entertainment better than anything on TV today. I just wish I was with you... Kudos & Respect from the Great White North, eh!
Great video as usual. I like your thinking and care over the important issues. Lesson 1: always have gasket paper. Lesson 2: always check your oil pick up screen, pump, level & pressure when doing stuff like this. Lesson 3: if your oil pan gets a dent check that it is not cracked or blocking your pick up.
I've used the same yellow tote lid as a parts cleaning tray for almost 2 years. Has a lot of scrapes and scratches, but no holes or cracks. Might be worth keeping!
That is why I love Harbor Freight tools. If you get an electric tool for $12 that does five jobs and then craps out, you still got your money's worth. Of course not practical for a business shop. I have an angle grinder that I have used here and there, over 25 years! Cost me $12 and it still works. I bought it at one of those "Rent the Hall" tool sales. I also bought a can opener for $6. I opened my tuna can for lunch with it, this past week.
When I first started wathing you build the hood, I was skeptical. However that hood came out, dare I say, perfect for this ride!!! This was a really nice build for what you started with! And like you said, the whole thing is a 50+ year design! Real cool buggy to get out there and have fun wtih!!!! KUDOS!
This would have to be one of your best videos. That was a lot of work you got through but also a hell of a lot of fun and I learnt a few things along the way. Thanks heaps. Cheers, Stuart 🇦🇺
Alex, I’ll take things I’d never think I’d see Low Buck doing for 1000 please. “Low Buck plays with sheet metal to add to aesthetics of a vehicle…” “What is Body Work Alex!”😂😂😂😂😂😂
A use for rattle cans other than graffiti, who would have thought? Great informative, entertaining and instructional vid again James, cant wait for your next!
I have a 69 RHD DJ5 postal Jeep that I was planning on building similarly. I have a chevy 400 and a turbo 350 trans in the garage for the build. I wanna just cut the top off and get going, but the body is in great shape, so Ive been looking for someone looking for a clean body in a trade, so I dont feel bad cutting something so cool. haha
Most old cars that had the left hand thread studs have had them replaced by now. A lot of people don't know or have forgotten about them. My Dad bought a 67 imperial. The driver side studs are left hand thread's. He was trying to remove the front wheel and was struggling with it. I told him they where probably still left hand. Checked and it was. He's been talking about replacing them since but hasn't found a real reason to yet.
😎👍That's just some mad scientist MadMax stuff there ... I was almost expecting mr. T to show up cuz this reminds me of an "A Team" episode 😅 ... In the near future this may be the norm for everyone ...but even this old stuff like you are working with is going to be hard to find cuz they are going hard to make it go away too you know so we can have nothing and be happy ... That little buggy turned out to be pretty cool thowe little 318 motors are pretty bulletproof after you work out the common bugs out of them ... I Remember when those old T bucket sand buggies used to be a thing out in the desert areas
First time viewer here. Really enjoyed this content, especially the deadpan ironic delivery. “Good enough garage” seems like a more appropriate channel name but you got yourself a new sub nevertheless. Looking forward to watching future vids and browsing your past posts. Best regards from 🇬🇧
Is the rear open ,or a posi ? Your version of good enough is pretty damn awesome your Builds are way cool ,your commentary as your working makes me laugh my butt off
Thanks! The rear is open, but the weight is far enough back that it doesn't really matter a whole lot. If you get crossed up a front tire just comes off the ground, and both rears still have traction.
Keep up the hard work! I Watch all your videos on the day you post them. Love the projects you get and the way you explain what’s happening and showing exactly how you fix the issue. Would love to see you get a 70s mopar body on the cheap to put that built motor and 5 speed into. Lol #LOWBUCKCOUNTRY #GOTTAHAVEFUN

Milk carton gaskets work really well. Trinidad Co. To ABQ. N.M. no leaks on water pump of old Oldsmobile

Don't insult James by comparing him to that juvenile, annoying clown at Vice Grip Garage.
Probably one of the best Ebay sale listings ever. All the best with the sale!
The only thing it's missing is a Low-Buck Garage sticker on the back, like real dealers use so that the paint gets ruined when you remove it.
