- Here you can see how I restore a light module called FRM on a MINI, the module was altered by a battery that was completely discharged on the car with the terminals connected

Hi, I am writing to you hoping to receive your precious help. I replaced the license plate lights (I have all led lights) with new ones, always led. At the same time, the car battery was completely discharged (it had long been discharged). Unfortunately the car had some sort of frm block, and now the windows don't work, the direction arrows don't even, and the headlights remain on (even if turned off by the selector). what could be causing my frm problem? (low battery or led light bulbs on the license plate? How do you advise me to proceed in detail? A greeting

Does this coding or reprogramming work for all type of FRM modules ? I have an FRM2 module, but I have read on internet that only FRM3 modules can be repaired. Do you have some experience with FRM2 modules ? It is mounted on an BMW E93. Thank for your advise and I wish you good luck in your job.
Yes FRM2 can be repaired, the process is similar, but it's not really worth it because they are easy to find used, they don't break down as easily as FRM3 and for this reason they are even cheaper used
You read the flash and write to the EEPROM? What's the purpose of the flash on the board?

@M.Ovidiu , I have a question you used other methods to reprogram the FRM , was it not possible to connect scan tool to OBD port and program the module without removing it from the car!

Hello, you need to do a complete diagnostic to the car and see what is the problem, maybe is the remocontrol or the module or the actuators....
Can u help me to fix my mini cooper footwell
I have water come down the pillar where the sunroof drain is I believe the rubber hose is disconnected, water gets into the foot well module some oxidation occurred, under the carpets were flooded and I believe there are Diodes mounted along the rails, occasionally lights will all come on, If I unlock the car with the remote they go off but later come back on again so right now I just disconnected the plugs from the module til I study the circuit diagrams. gonna have to pull the roof liner down to get to the tubes and a lot of drying under the carpets.
Thanks for uploading and showing your work! Question: to program a donor first gen R52 Body Control Module (replacing a water damaged one, causing passenger windows to not work) do I need to do the same process as this FRM3? Or can I used WinKFP to write the VIN and car optional?

If you ask me that thing it is mean that you don't know to work with BMW software, in this case I advise you to search for some to do that coding for you, the coding is done with NCS with a blank file

I have Mini Cooper 07.convertible. Was flooded on a rainy day. Roughly 2inch water on the floor. Every thing was dead. Nothing worked. Took it to the dealer.car came back to life with intermittent drivers side window not working and now not working at all. Everything else works. Window motor is examined. It works. Any suggestion??
Hello. it is possible that the FRM module may be defective, some tests and measurements must be made .... and possibly removed from the car and opened to see if it has traces of water or oxide
How do you know what mcu it is? Do you read on the chip and choose that number in the program xprog?

@Ovidiu nice video ! Really really well done. I have a mini on which the module needs to be reprogrammed (battery was dead for many months). I am not sure I am able to do it myself and cannot find anyone in the area (Belgium) that can do it. Even if I buy a new one I understand from your answers to other questions that I need to program it for my car anyways. I know it’s a long shot but…. Can I mail it to you ?… sorry for the question but I am a bit desperate :-)

Does anyone know what I can do to prevent from this happening again? Should I take out my module when replacing the battery/jump starting?
You have nothing to do to prevent it , if it was restored , theoretically it would not corrupt again in a short period of time

super tare...200 ma costat operatiunea asta .....dar nu inteleg dc se defecteaza....se poate strica dupa iara ? mie mi se pare ca se reseteaza...dar nu se rezolva problema in sine pentru care s-a defectat....oare am dreptate ?
Salut Ionel , nu se reseteaza nimic se altereaza informatia in procesor o simpla oscilatie a voltajului de alimentare poate cauza asta... defectiunea este una software nu hardware

Note: Sometime test points are covered with varnish (BMW cars), so you must remove this coating with a sovant and a cotton stem before using the test fixture.

One would think BMW could design a car that if the battery goes dead. All you need to do is replace the battery! But no....
Stop buying BMW's and cars like that and eventually the companies might get the idea, or go out of business like they should...
hey ! I don't want to make you change your perspective about BMW but you need to think that this problem occur at cars that are almost 10 years or older. nobody can test a car this long to see if will fail or not , and on the next generation they didn't use this type of processor !
Do to fix this stupid problem you are supposed to have special tools softeare,laptop,wire,etc.this is disgusting
