It's amazing how the 757 and 767 remain so popular with the airlines that operate them. The fact that they're all paid off is probably a significant factor, but so is their reliability and performances.
I AM A RETIRED AC PILOT WITH AC 38 YRS SERVICE . AC CANADA NEVER HAS OWNED ANY OF ITS PLANES IT HAS ALWAYS LEASED THEM JUST 97% OF ALL AIRLINES DO . THE ONLY 3 AIRLINES IN THE WORLD THAT PAY CASH AND BUY THEIR OWN AIRCRAFT STRAIGHT FROM MANUFACTURERS. THEY ARE EMIRATES, KOREAN, EHIHAD .
@@kodyadams5561While it is true that airlines mostly lease their aircraft, a significant number of them own the planes outright, and it's not just the 3 that you mentioned. Many airlines have the option to purchase their aircraft after years of leasing, and Emirates is one of them, as they recently did with some A380s earlier this year. The main reason why airlines like Delta and United have such a large fleet of 757s and 767s is because they own those aircraft now.
The 2-3-2 seating makes the plan superior to passenger comfort to this day. I’ve never flown on anything better than a 767, it’s the perfect plane and I’m sad to see it slowly go.
Many enthusiasts sleep on the 767, it’s overlooked for what it provided to commercial aviation. It was the first twin engine wide body, also first twin engine to regularly cross the Atlantic ushering in the twin engine era. Far superior passenger comfort, and a good safety record. Yet, most can’t let the dated 757 go….
I've flown many time on the 767-300ER ( and once on the smaller 767-200). In the late 2000's, before the 777-200LR arrived, Air Canada used to fly some 767's on trans-Pacific routes to Autralia, with a stopover in Honolulu. Always a positive experience.
I have flown in a 767 many times, including on the cockpit jump seat. It was & is a great airplane. I would have no problem flying it again. I’m glad to see that the two aircraft are from the former Canadian Airlines fleet, which I flight planned many times.
But will it actually happen in the long run? With China Southern selling its 787-8 fleet, it's possible that Air Canada will buy some or all of the 10 planes up for sale, and that could make keeping the 767-300(ER) in Air Canada operations superfluous.
Without a doubt, 2-3-2 is the best possible seating configuration for economy class travel. I loved flying Qantas 767's back in the day and I think this is a great use of a wonder (albeit old) aircraft!!
I imagine American Airlines is really regretting retiring their 757/767 and the A330 (especially the A330, those had a good decade or more on them left). Look how pathetic their international service is compared to the other North American mainline airlines.
Flew on Delta's 767-400er ATL-EZE. The engines were on the noisy side but aside from that, they were perfect! Best economy class in the sky with the 2-3-2 configuración.
I would search out and fly this 2-3-2 seat configuration any time I get the chance. So much more comfortable and easy to get up to use bathroom with less bother to fellow passengers.. Bravo!
I definitely see more 767's being reactived at AC since Airbus and Boeing are delayed delivering aircraft. Yes, 6 of them are now freighter but they're still a few left in long term storage that can be put back into service if needed. I won;t be surprised Rouge getting back the 767's or eventually the A330's to help with the leisure market
unlike the WJ 767s, these 76s have been well looked after by air canada and have decades of good Mx history with the company - I used to work on these engines
My last 767 flight was in 2017, Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica and back, Air Canada rouge. Nice planes, if dated. Back in the day I did lots of long haul flights (trans-Atlantic, trans-Pacific) in 767s.
Great aircraft, one of the past workhorses of long haul flights for many airlines. Great safety record and very reliable. Also great aircraft in turbulence.
I have really enjoyed my flights on the 767-200 and -300er with Air Canada and they have the best seating arangement and i have flown both buisiness and econamy on both so i am very happy to see a couple of them coming back for a while . As NotchNate mentioned below the seating arrangement 2-3-2 is the best.
Back in the late 90’s and 00’s I used to hate the 767’s. They were everywhere … boring vanilla look when you could still see tri jets … quad jets and T tails at airport gates . But now I am pumped to see passenger 767! West jet leased a few 767 pre pandemic they used as a stop gap when getting deliveries of 787. Was neat seeing 767 in WJ livery
I flew one from Toronto with Air Canada and it was manky beyond belief, really poor. Nice to see they are bringing the bird back, I just hope the interior is clean and in good order!
Reliable, solid, and a great aircraft to fly. I understand that there are newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft, but the B767 will provide comfortable, reliable transportation to fill int the gaps in the Air Canada schedule until such time as the fleet fills out. Great to see these aircraft back in the air. (Full disclosure: I flew the B767 for many years and it was on this aircraft type that I was promoted to Captain. This may have a bit of an impact on the comments).

Honestly, I think Boeing's lost its footing in the market. It's unlikely we'll see a head-to-head competition between the two giants again. Every new fleet update seems to favor Airbus, with a significant share of new orders going their way. Even traditional Boeing customers are switching to Airbus for replacements. It's disappointing to see the competition dwindle.
Until watching this video, I didn't know Air Canada was doing domestic/transborder red-eye flights. I thought they stopped for a few years, including before the pandemic.
@@mateimatei2074 May be more of a North American commercial aviation term. Both the Canada and USA are so large in an east-west direction that, combined with time zone differences, one can leave the west side of either country, such as a coast city like Vancouver or San Francisco, late at night, and arrive on the east side, such as Toronto or New York, in the morning. The flights are generally not long enough for a good night's sleep, leading some people to have "red eyes" on arrival.
Pretty sure Air Canada will try to densify coach cabin to 9 across because they cannot allow coach passengers to have an enjoyable flight )otherwise nobody woyld pay for premium economy). And if they can't go from 7 to 9 across they will reduce seta pitch wt 27". So it all depends on what the coach seating will be like to determine if the 767s will be better than ACMs 787/777 crippled cattle class.
Air Canada planes need serious upgrades. I flew on Air Canada Rouge this summer and the seat foam was like cardboard. It's so worn out it's insulting to charge customers the type of airfare they charge.
