Happy Birthday to Me is a 1981 Canadian psychological slasher film directed by J. Lee Thompson and starring Melissa Sue Anderson and Glenn Ford. Its plot revolves around six brutal murders occurring around a popular high school senior's birthday.
Filmed primarily in Canada and upstate New York, Happy Birthday to Me was distributed by Columbia Pictures, and released theatrically in North America in the spring of 1981.

I was intrigued with the movie. Didnt hate it or love but was intrigued but the ending completely lost me.

I have to admit though, I’m kinda anticipating “Wolfen” rant. With Albert Finney. I personally enjoyed it but on the other hand I would love to see a remake of this. I have a feeling it would do better.
I think this one is okay. It is an ambitious film, but it bites off more than it can chew. I agree with many in that it's runs too long. I can deal with the ending.

yeah, the pacing and ending killed it for me too. i've heard so much praise for this movie and it didn't deliver. the ending turned into night of the demons and was way over the top. my intelligence felt insulted as well.

Melissa sue Anderson is the reason I can watch because she's Absolutely Beautiful. but yeah if it had been a twin sister maybe she didn't know about would've been better anything like that over a dumb mask thing!
The twist ending came out of nowhere and really ruined the film for me. One of the absolute worst endings out there. It's pointless to boot.
Yeah I was disappointed by this one mainly because I found it boring at times because of the running time. I might be wrong, but this has to be longest slasher film ever made at 1 hour and 50 minutes. Yeah that’s too long for a slasher film.
Agreed. There is a difference between a well planned twist vs one that goes a step too far. This is the latter. It's a cheat.

I really like this one. Non sensical plot, but I love the kills and there’s some cool scares. I particularly like the scene in the beginning with the shadow figure behind the shower curtain. We agree to disagree
Another Friday the 13th Ripp off, cheesy but kinda fun. The girl from Little House on the prairie is in the lead role. It's probly in the same league as One Dark Night, which is a cheesy pretty bad horror movie. About kids getting trapped in a musaleam grave yard.

20 minutes needed cut I'd have an hour and thirty minutes like most slashers are!
I really wanted to like this one but it is too slow and long. 20 minutes shorter, some more gore and nudity, and this would have been so much better.
But as bad as this one is, try watching THE HOUSE WITH LAUGHING WINDOWS. Now THAT movie is a SLEEPER!

Yeah, I've tried to watch this movie so many times and just can't stay awake for it no matter what. It's probably the worst of the supposed best slashers out there.
For one, where in the fuck is the opening backstory sequence?? The opening is random as fuck and gives us NO DIRECTION on where this movie is supposed to be going.
The pace is slow as fuck, the runtime way too long, the score isn't even memorable FFS! I really just don't "get" this movie. It's like a bad joke that just can't ever make se sense.
I really wanted to like this movie and I've tried, but I just can't.
But if there's one thing I do have to disagree with you out of this whole review/rant - it's that GIRL'S NITE OUT is actually better in my opinion, like miles better.
