Silverhand being stuck in psychological purgatory is some Black Mirror type stuff... Here is a Psychoanalysis on Solomon Reed : ua-cam.com/video/dbuk_PcgwYc/v-deo.html
Most of that game is Black Mirror incarnate! Cyberpsychosis is terrifying! There's a guy whose balls explode from faulty cyberware! The whole story revolves around V being in a really Black Mirror scenario with the chip and Johnny's consciousness. It even addresses the fact that only one of you can remain and lets you sacrifice your own freedom for Johnny's sake. Is he even real? Or is he just data?
I think one of the biggest insights into Johnny comes from V at the start of the game. "I'm on a stage. So filled with hate. So I let it all out into the mic... and I realize... it didn't help." Nothing Johnny did really mattered. Started a band to get his message out. No revolution. Nuked Arasaka tower. They just got stronger and built a new one. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Nothing changed based on what he did because so much of what he shows V didn’t happen the way he presents it. Johnny is an outright cyberpsycho who has reinvented a new reality where he’s the big dramatic main character. In truth, he was a useful idiot hired by a Militech operative to be a distraction while Morgan Blackhand’s team planted the actual bomb.
@@BeyondHorrorGamingOr brother, sister if V is female. I almost feel disappointed that their relationship could not have been a little bit more, like female V filling in that romantic void for Johnny. But at the same time, I guess it's fair to say that that would feel awkward to Johnny and he would see it to be an unfair to V.
@@Thugzilla90 I actually agree with you. I wonder if they thought the complexities would have been to difficult, or if having to pay the voice actors even more to get new dialogue would have deterred them.
One interesting thing ive heard discussed is that, as an engram, Johnny is likely sober for the first time in forever, able to reasses his actions, etc
I hated corporates way earlier than this game came out. So when I see Silverhand and his intentions I merged with his personality very smoothly. And I look like him in real life to!
It's difficult to be sympathetic to Johnny's anarchism when he has no positive vision to fill in the void once the corporate power is destroyed. I found myself far more sympathetic to a Nationalist / American re-unificationist like President Myers in the long run, even if I thought Johnny's passion was admirable.
@RingworldTyrant Johnnys actions is the equivalent to shitting in someone's cereal and a positive end goal is just expecting them to eat it. Johnny is not one of those *for the people* hopeful type anarchist he's aware that the people are ignorant and no corpos or corpos the people will be doomed regardless. When you play through his missions he displays this disappointing realization. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.
One of the things I wonder about Johnny is how many of his flaws are actually his, but actually simply the opinions of the people around him that he's internalised. (And tell you a lot about the people around him) He keeps the relationships in his life on way too high a pedestal, when they themselves are extremely flawed imo.
Great video. Songbird or Rogue would be an interesting psychoanalysis. One frames herself as a victim to justify her morally ambiguous actions the other filled with guilt over Johnnys death- V comes and shatters the defenses of her identity. Misty’s projection would be interesting-her tendency to encourage others (like V) to embrace fate reflects her own need for reassurance that everything happens for a reason, projecting her spiritual beliefs as a coping mechanism for her uncertainty and pain.
Thank you! I actually contemplated doing So Mi also. And I never even considered Rogue or Misty the way you just did 👏. I ended up doing a video on Solomon Reed. I try not to do too many videos about 1 game though because it feels like I would trap me into just that one game. Maybe in the future. Plus it always takes very long to make these videos and so if I want to catch up on my backlog, I can’t spend too long in one game 😅. But I really enjoyed your breakdowns. Especially about Misty.
@@Gamfluent Thanks! Quite a few people have asked for a video on her, so it’s likely that some time in the future I will replay Cyberpunk and do Songbird!
I'm from a single parent house. Of the four attachments listed. My attachment style is secure. However I'm a disorganized, chaotic mess. So that adds challenges. I try to find people that bring order to the chaos. Though not too much order. I don't need a drill sargent.
@@chaos9059 Thanks for sharing and I like that you said you look for someone to balance you out. I think it’s important we not only find people who align with us, but make us whole at the same time. And yes, NOBODY wants a Drill Sargent yelling at us and telling us our room is unsat.
16:00: "Imagine you need and want love, but you're scared of being abandoned and ... alone, and you're also scared of having that love." Yes, it sucks. Everyone will disappoint you because you will look to see if they are disappointing you. On the plus side, knowing is half the battle.
Really means a lot, thank you. Super encouraging. I plan to keep doing these as I am just getting started, but it always feels good to see people enjoy the work.
Love the videos man! 3:10 I’ve played a couple runs of cyberpunk, pre and post dog town dlc. I always interpreted when Johnny says that guy who took a bullet for him, he’s reffering to himself. He says something along the lines when V grabs the dog tags, “those belonged to the man who took a bullet for me”. When you go into your inventory after, you get (Johnnys) tank top and dog tags. So ultimately, I feel like he’s reffering to when he got his arm blown off, at that time Robert John Linder died to give his life for Johnny silverhand
@@billogden7265 bro, I appreciate you so much for your support and also, man! I didn’t notice that! Even after 3 times beating the game, it never occurred to me!
Ima be honest that rage against the machine jab is prolly one of the most accurate comparisons ive ever seen. Especially given how fuckin anti establishment rage was with de la rocha
I literally CRIED watching this cause man, this was kinda exposing some of my deep, unresolved emotions too (Johnny is too relatable atp) please keep making these psychoanalysis videos, I love them! (You should absolutely do one about Dante and Vergil from the dmc games, would be extremly interesting!)
Oh wow, I did not expect this, but honestly, sometimes we all need a good cry. Part of why I love making these is because its all too relatable at times, which is why I love Psychology. I will keep making them. And I just bought the DMC games so I will for sure eventually get to them. I am limited by my resources currently, so it takes a while to get videos out, but as I grow, I think I can pump more out soon. All in all Dante and Vergil are both getting dedicated Psychoanalyses.
@ it was absolutely a good and relieving type of cry! Sometimes it's needed and I definitely seemed to need it in that moment Hope you enjoy the dmc games, looking forward to seeing your psychoanalysis videos! (And ofc take your time!)
Incredible. The algorithm threw me a good video from a good creator. I'm commenting on this and subscribing as you have 1.73k subs. Ill look back when youre in the millions.
I'd be interested in your thoughts about: 1. Johnny's relationship with V improves and progresses quite quickly. It could probably be said that Johnny's relationship with V is the most stable and trusting relationship Johnny has ever had. I wonder if it is, at least in part, because Johnny knows V cannot leave him. 2. Why is Johnny (and even the game itself) so insistent that the overall solution to all things is to blow up the Arasaka building when Johnny, of all people, finds out that 50 years later, blowing up the Arasaka building didn't accomplish much of anything? Yet, he desperately wants to do the exact same thing again (and the game "punishes" the player with the Devil ending for doing anything but that). It didn't work before, why does he (and the game itself) insist that doing the same thing again will yield different results (isn't there a saying about doing the same thing over and over expecting different results)?
1. Yes you are on the nose with those thoughts. I would also add that Johnny had a long time to “sober up” and actually had time to reflect on himself. So the Johnny V meets, in my opinion is considerably different to a maturity extent which enables him to begin seeing more “errors” of his ways that help him grow even further. Plus Johnny also “likes” people who challenge him. Which V does, constantly. Johnny thrives, is drawn to, and essentially becomes more reflecting with V. 2. You are right, I think its main purpose was to provide deeper insight into what makes Johnny Johnny and his incessant need to project on to others. Because yeah, even after Arasaka goes down in the DLC, nothing changes. It feels kinda worse even.
Really good video lots to think about would be interesting to see your take on reed/song and their delusions hope to see this channel get some traction you deserve it
Thank you! I just finished Reed’s script. Haven’t decided to do Songbird. However, after this Stellar Blade video, I will be having my editor edit Reed’s Psychoanalysis. I appreciate your encouragement and support! 🙌
Also, the raid to save alt Cunningham and the nuke going off at Dal’s tower were 5-10 years apart, I forget exactly, but definitely 2 different occasions
This video was recommended to me and I can immediately tell this is a work of genuine art made from an interest that I share in the baddest ass character of all time, Johnny Silverhand. I’m going to watch this another time but I am reserving my spot in your viewers because you deserve it. I’ll be back to watch it but hey, that’s 2 views instead of one!
I’m halfway through the video and I never understood him. I relate to him very deeply in my own way and the identity vs. role confusion is something I’m facing in my life right now. This genuinely helped me understand myself better. I wish I could give you a million likes
😅 It will be a while before I replay CP again, as I have sooo many other games to analyze, but I will definitely keep my mind tuned in for them when I do. Ill consider Jackie too
@ Like all CDPR games I am drawn back to the psychological depths they plumb. I started out with the Witcher, but then I was drawn inevitably to Cyberpunk2077. I was blown away by the characters. So I hope it won’t be too long before you revisit Cyberpunk 2077. 😃
😅😭 You’re telling me. It’s always a big feels bad, but it’s also an indication that I am doing something the audience doesn’t like. Part of growing. I’ll get there one day. But I appreciate you sharing the sentiment, it means a lot to me.
@BeyondHorrorGaming I wouldn't say it's because people dont like it, this kind of content is big. I think its a luck thing partially, but focus on making content you want. I personally love these types of videos. I would also consider not using weird fonts for the title because im pretty sure it makes a pretty big difference on how much it gets pushed in the algorithm.
@ I see, that’s motivating. And you know what? I think you’re right! I looked it up and a lot of people say that these types of fonts for titles don’t show up on their TVs, just a bunch of boxes. Thank you for the tip!
Thank you and you are sure to love it. It was my 3rd time playing CP2077 again and the world is so easy to get immersed into. And I hope it gets pushed out by the Almighty Algorithm too one day. Slowly but surely. I just need to focus on creating more and being better.
99% sure my childhood attachment was ambivalent/avoidance (prob some disorganization too). My dad was never really in my life at all (for good reason) and my mom always had more affection and attention to give whoever she was dating at the time. Never thought I'd be posting about that on a CP2077 video lol. Awesome job on this btw, I love your attention to the details. 1 new sub! 😁
Hey thank you for sharing your experience. Personally, I lost my mom when I was young and I had always been envious of seeing how other men grew up with loving mothers and I always wondered how different I could have been, had I formed that deep connection. But yeah! That's the point of my videos, I want people to come together and share their experiences, love for games, and psychology. Safe space here, anyone who isn't just gets blocked from my channel because we don't want them here lol. Thank you for your support!
@@BeyondHorrorGaming I'm sorry to hear about that loss. Things like that really hurt us, but it's also what helps us grow. At least that's how I personally am able to cope with those sorts of things. I was the same way growing up about my dad, wondering how him being around would have affected me. When I got older though I had to find out the hard way why he wasn't around, and that is one of those things that helped me grow. It's hard to find the light in some things, but once you do it does bring some kind of solace, no matter how little. I know we don't know each other but I think your mom would be proud of who you've become. Even though I don't know your story, I know hearing things like that brings about a smile (mostly I hope.) Keep up the awesome work man! 🙂
Hey! Incredible video. I've been watching your channel for the last few days. Do you mind if I give you some recommendations for future videos? Layers of Fear, The Forgotten City and Dear Esther I’d love to see you talk about these!
Hey thank you! I literally just bought Layers of Fear because it was on sale on Steam and ill take a look at the other 2 as well. Thank you for your support and suggestions! 🍻
Alt was in the Arasaka system, pulled out with the Soulkiller, but at the same time trying to return to her body. Johnny, not yet knowing this, hastily pulled the plug... and I think, afterwards he both realized it and suppressed knowing it, which further became an element of his self-destructive tendencies.
@@BeyondHorrorGaming Uh-huh. CDPR was really sneaky with this one. They even slightly embellish and underline it in the scene and several other parts of the game that contain "forced disconnects" from the normal net. The only "if" here is that there was never any guarantee Alt might have made it back to her body, but seeing how she, as an AI, uploads and reinstalls V later on in one ending, I figure she was going to make it...
Cyberpunk 2077 has changed us, allowed us to identify with this game, no this universe on so many levels. Cyberpunk gives us a chance to live through a game on each play through. Johnny & V are the duo we needed and they delivered, even when the game was shaky. This game means so much to us because it gives us a chance to live…Through the game🤔
In 30+ years of playing video games I have never hated a video game character more than Johnny Silverhand. While I sympathize with the anti corpo agenda. His personality along with calling me a whore and trying to kill me, makes him irredeemable.
You know what? With your presented angle… I feel you bro! 😂 And that also just speaks to how well he was crafted as a character and how well he was acted out by Keanu. He nailed it, JS is meant to make the player feel these things.
Incredible Video, only one thing i would add, its a common misconceptions btw, when Johnny gives you the Dogtags saying they belonged to someone who had to die so he could live.. its metaphorical, the Dogtag have his name on it. It supposed to be his "Rebirth" as Johnny Silverhand. Its a shame since i would love to hear your take on the whole rebirth thing since you did such a great job with the analysis itself.
Oh man! I can’t believe I didn’t catch that. It would have changed some stuff in the script and even added another layer. 😭 Just goes to show I have more to work on, but man, sometimes it feels impossible to catch everything. 😅
@BeyondHorrorGaming Hey man, don't worry about it, like I said it's a common misconception that even channels spread that dedicate themselves to Cyberpunk. Johnny himself is pretty freaking wage about it so it's not easy to pick up on it, I certainly didn't in my first playthough. There are still UA-camrs who say Maman Brigitte is the one who commisioned the Heist despite their being a whole section of the Main mission contradicting that. Btw, you did a good job at guessing his Childhood cause (though it's not officially cannon and only mentioned as a rough backstory idea Mike Pondsmith had) that Johnny's Mother sold him to a Pack of Nomads for a pack of Cigarettes, and that he generally is pretty messed up in general due to being abandoned and worthless, should explain why he wants to be a Legends so badly and gets so.upset when he sees that his "Grave" is just a Dumb near the oil fields. I would love to see more Cyberpunk Content if that's in the planning. Keep up the great work dude.
@ oh wow! You like REALLY know Cyberpunk. And its nice to see my educated guess panned out well. Thank you for all this. And I do have 1 more Cyberpunk video planned out, a psychological analysis on Solomon Reed. But that comes after this Stellar Blade video my editor is currently working on. But after Reed, it may be a while before I do CP again. I have to cautious to not cover too much much of one game because I don’t want to get locked in to being a channel that dedicates itself to one game. Im sure you understand.
@BeyondHorrorGaming Nah, I just get super obsessed with the Games I play at that given time, when you have a Game like Cyberpunk that had like 40 Years to marinate with the TTRPG and Lore, I have alot to sink my teeth in haha, thanks though.. Yeah Reed would be Cool since he is still somewhat puzzling to me. I also understand that you don't wanna lock yourself into Cyberpunk particularly since it's 4 Years old already and alot of UA-camrs already have the Limelight on that Topic. Diversification is smart. Anyway best of Luck my dude.
I would say that Johnny gets something out of most of the endings. Like you said, Johnny is looking to create a lasting impression on the world, but I think as he changes with the forced introspection from V, he realizes his goal is fruitless. I feel Johnny becomes more of a realist and is able to accept that he can't change the world, but he can help V. I'm reminded of Erwin's charge in Attack on Titan (SPOILERS AHEAD). Levi tells Erwin to give up on his dreams so he can be subservient to a larger goal. in Johnny's case, that larger goal is V's life. In the DLC ending, Johnny seems to accept this the most, acknowledging his positive effect on V (mostly) and accepting that his dreams were unrealistic. perhaps Johnny depressingly realizes he's just not built for greatness, but he can do something good by helping V.
I absolutely agree with this. Especially in one ending where he does end up taking over Vs body, he gets the most. But yeah for most of towards the end, he did end up caring about V I think. Still a self deluded narcissist, but yes.
I just did Don't Fear The Reaper -> Temperance Ending and Johnny ended up dropping his crusade against the Corps in order to do something different. I don't necessarily agree that he didn't learn anything or didn't evolve. I don't know what decisions he will end up making, but I would like to think my boy ended up carving a new path for himself. One where he could open his heart to others and live a long and happy life. But then again I'm starting to love Johnny like I do Eren Yeager so my thoughts may be subject to the whims of my feelings.
15:30 I know exactly whats it like to be fearful avoidant, anxious avoidant, whatever you wanna call it.. Because i have it. Its hell. Truthfully hell. To want love, but you cant trust them enough to love you because they are gonna leave you one day.. Like johnny, i have a strong abandonment issues since i was a very young kid (im 21 rn) and i grew up with a dysfunctional family where mother played hot and cold and father let her be abusive. My mom was full of hate, expecting so much outta me as a neurodivergent. I got abused.. A lot. And it changed it. Her loved confused me, because one moment she loved me and the next she hated me. Thats where my attachment style comes from. Trust me when i say, i wouldn't wish this attachment style on anyone.
I feel for you. It’s definitely something kids should never have to go through. When a parent is always teetering between loving and hating their kids, their kids learn several detrimental things. “I need to always be in “survival mode” because I don’t know what to expect on a moment to moment basis.” “Oh she does love me, never mind she hates me, what did I do?” “She loves me, she loves me not, so now I can’t trust anyone because they’re going to betray or break me.” “I guess this is what love is supposed to be like, so abusive relationships are the norm” “Damn, got hurt again, time to rebuild this wall harder and higher”
Id say my upbringing was ambivalent. Parents always fought and used me as a net, eventually filing for divorce. Ultimately never following through after years of drama. They were and are good parents and people when they arent primarily interested in their broken dreams and life choices and clashing over insecurities.
I had decent parents, dunno what kind of attachment style they would fall into. My dad's kind of a dick, is prone to fits of rage and self-centeredness, but he's never physically hurt me and I think does care about me--we also bond over shared interests. My mom is excellent, she spent her whole life fighting to meet my needs (which, as someone with autism, were substantial), but we don't share a lot of interests. I was an only child and there were no other kids my age in the area where I grew up, so it was just me, my parents, and my grandparents. I was the center of attention all day, every day. I think this resulted in some narcissistic traits that I still struggle with (though my therapist doubts that that's the primary cause). I have a persistent need for validation, a sensitivity to rejection, and have historically predicated a lot of my identity around being "right"--being perceived as gifted only fueled this, and also left me not knowing how to manage stress and persevere because everything was so easy for me; until it wasn't. Between that, my need for intellectual stimulation, and my similarly anti-capitalist ideals, Johnny is kind of a mood. If he's anything like me, I imagine that his lack of a vision for a post-capitalist world is part of what he's afraid of. However what really turns me off to him is his blatant misogyny.
With your dad being the way he is, probably Ambivalent, then with your mom being the strong caregiver, Secure, which is almost contradicting a bit. But the fact that you bonded with your dad also could contribute to Secure. But yeah, I also don't like the misogyny!
@@BeyondHorrorGaming Wouldn't the inconsistency make it Ambivalent by default? Some additional thoughts: I think that Johnny's character might be helpful in understanding that narcissism is an illness, not just a synonym for "bad person". Because Johnny definitely struggles with these traits, but he's self-aware, and most importantly, he's RIGHT. Regardless of where his hate comes from, Arasaka totally deserves it. Pixi-gags is a channel that has also been praised for their realistic depiction of disorders like sociopathy and narcissism that don't automatically condemn the people who have them.
Hey brother, I know there’s nothing I can say. And I know vets don’t talk about their time in service much. But thanks for sharing and just know I know. 🤝🍻
I think Alt was the only woman Johnny truly loved. She could cut through his bs and show him as he is. Not even Rogue had that power over him. I am attracted to women who are honest with me. Alt loved Johnny but she wasn’t willing to settle for the Jonny manufactured bs, she was too clever for that. But when Arasaka kidnapped Alt he wouldn’t let it lie. He was going to rescue her.
Thank you! Yes, suited up, he looks killer! However, I personally dont like his haircut 😅. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts here in the comments 🤝
@ yeah that’s not really suited for him maybe it would look better on someone else. Ya know Johnny reminds me of me when I was younger. I was deeply insecure about my choices and relationships and I pushed away a lot of freinds as a result. I’m a lot like Johnny in that regard. If there’s something I regret I dig in and fight it. Eventually I realized that I had to change. If not for others then for me.
Yeah, you know what? I can see this being such a normal thing, but you know what isn’t normal? People who recognize this within themselves. A lot of people lack the self awareness or the “want” to find these issues within themselves.
Johnny fought for the US army in the central American war, aka Militech, not Arasaka. This captures the bitter irony at the core of cyberpunk- inevitably he was fighting the wrong people and unwittingly working for the same corporation he deserted and preached against, used like a pawn in a greater game
Militech at this time wasn't nationalized and didn't constitute the bulk of US armed forces...Johnny just fought for the US, and served in an Army outfit, not a Militech one. Even in 2077, it's likely the NUSA Armed Forces are much bigger than Militech, Militech is merely Nationalized and does a lot of "deniable" work that is ostensibly not connected to the NUSA. We just never see NUSA forces in the game, other than the defectors that are BARGHAST in Dogtown.
I recommend taking a look at Red Dead Redemption/Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar's ability to write characters with so much detail and depth is insane. Take a look at Arthur Morgan please! (RDR2) OR Dutch (RDR1 & 2). Both are fascinating characters that undergo massive character development throughout the game(s). If you ever decide to do more Cyberpunk 2077 vids, I recommend taking a look at So Mi/Songbird! Another fascinating character with layers to her story. I just yesterday finished the DLC and had to double back a number of times to explore her dialogue as well as look for any datashards on her. One more recommendation, Queen Marika the Eternal! Elden Ring's most important character imo. 3 of my favourite games ever right there. ✨
So RDR is definitely on my backlog of games to cover, I just wish I had more time lol. And I may have to give SoMi a look in the future because quite a few people have asked me for her already lol. And I may tackle Marika in the future, however it may be a while, since I have done like 3 or 4 vids on this channel I think on Elden Ring. I have to try and not tether myself to one game, otherwise I may find myself in an unfavorable situation where I become beholden to only 1 game. But these are awesome suggestions. Thank you for sharing them and for enjoying the video!
@@BeyondHorrorGamingThen some other suggestions for games you haven't covered yet: Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2 & Borderlands the Pre Sequel (idk how much he's mentioned in other the games). A legendary Villain for sure. Geralt or Ciri from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. 2 great characters with intertwined stories! And lastly, Henry from Kingdom Come Deliverance! Although KCD2 comes out next February which I think continues Henry's story further, so I'd maybe wait for that game to drop first if you're interested. Take your time and do whatever you feel like doing, your vids are great! ❤️
@@mastergroggle1825 Those are actually some awesome suggestions. I just bought Borderlands, it was on sale, so I will definitely get tot them. Geralt and Ciri have always been on my list. And thanks for putting Henry in my sights, I did not know about him. Actually, I don't know much of that game, so thank you. You can definitely expect to see videos on all the characters you suggested, even if it takes a while for me to get to.
Yea, Johnny wasn’t perfect, yea he was pretty insolent, yea he was kinda crazy, but in the end he was kinda right, the corpos were power hungry, they kept taking the peoples will to think and act and eventually their souls, thats why i agree with johnny on most of his points, his other points are mostly just crazy, but he was right and honestly i kinda understand he’s anger against greedy corpos. He’s a flawed character but he’s good character to learn important lessons from. Anyway i hope that makes sense to yall. Stay safe out there chooms.
This was great but for deeper insights I would dig into the real story of the Arasaka tower raid and the Night city holocaust outside of Silverhands memories from the table top game. As it says in 2077 Silverhands memories are not true, they are twisted versions of the truth. In reality he never led the assault or had the nuke or fought Adam Smasher in the roof and Arasaka barely even acknowledged his existence. All those things were done by the The Solo, Morgan Blackhand who led the raid, which itself was a corporate sponsored raid by Militech. Silverhand was part of a second B team and actually ‘died’ in the first encounter with smasher and was never on the roof, everything after that first encounter is either implanted memories or his fantasies and as we know the only reason Arasaka has him on engram is to lead them to Alt in cyberspace. In the table top RPG it’s always clear that Johny is a cyber psycho who is losing it as well as a narcissist. He was never this big nemesis of Arasaka, they didn’t care about him. All of this is canon and actually there are loads of hints in 2077 in his memories that allude to the true events.
😱 Wow, thanks for sharing this. I had no idea🍻💯🙌 I took it for face value and never really looked outside of Johnny’s scope and what I saw through my play throughs.
I didn't know any of that (I have no experience with the TTRPG), but it seems totally fitting that the Blue-Eyed Man would be involved (for profit) in the Arasaka Tower raid.
I’m thankful that you didn’t have a sponsorship. I’m especially thankful that the hypothetical sponsor isn’t Better Help since it is a problematic and untrustworthy company that harms the field, practitioners, and patients. If you need a therapist, please look elsewhere. Better Help is not the answer.
@@BeyondHorrorGaming When I said that I’m thankful you don’t have a sponsorship, I meant that it was refreshing to watch a video that didn’t have a sponsor shoved in it. I didn’t mean that you shouldn’t ever be sponsored; I sincerely apologize for that. Definitely get that bank where you can, just be careful of what sponsors you take. I also recommend that you look up Better Help’s poor practices and how it’s harmful. The _idea_ of Better Help is a good one, but the company itself is problematic and untrustworthy.
Johnny Silverhand was a joke character. He is the quintessential '80s "rock and roll can change the world" faux bad boy everyone made fun of. At the end of the third corporate war campaign you could bulk out your team for the assault on Arasaka tower with a variety of NPCs including Johnny who is good only as a comic relief distraction. The character we meet in 2077 has been stewing in self delusion for so long they've written major characters out of history to make their role less pathetic, but Johnny is pathetic no matter how many lies he tells, and his best moments are when he comes to terms with that in small ways.
Mmmm well, one might speculate. It’s understandable to draw the similarities, however, personally I don’t think he precisely fits into BPD diagnosis. They closely fit, like puzzle pieces that look like and almost snap into place, but they just don’t exactly fit. I think his traits are due to trauma, ptsd, narcissism, and rebelliousness.
@@matthewwarner9039 Well, how can I argue with someone who has a clinical diagnosis. 😅 I just, I don’t know, for some reason in my mind, I just don’t look at Silverhand and say “yeah BPD”. You know? But hey, I don’t know everything.
This comment will be a bit ironic. I have massive trust issues because my family could never provide a predictable response to my comments and questions. It was either an actually useful or empathic response or one of criticism. I legitimately couldn't predict which I'd get. So now I rarely open up and when I do, I almost literally sweat over it. I just can't stand the idea of trusting someone at the risk of having that trust abused. This comment is ironic because I'm opening up in a place a lot of people can see it.
Hey that’s totally fine, no judgment here, I don’t think its ironic. I want this channel and my videos to be a place where people can just say how they feel and share experiences. That’s part of why I always lay my business out there first. I’ll be honest, I can kind of know what you’re talking about. That’s how I grew up too; that constant uncertainty with how my parents might respond to something I would say always kept me on edge. Often to the point where I ended up not wanting to say anything and even saying nothing got me into hot water. I feel you man, best we can do is try to become our own men.
Morning, As I was listening to your video, I couldn't help but say to myself corporations are controlling the world and people for profit in the real world too. People are products via their personal data that is mined with our *partial* consent. As GPT put it: personal data is the new oil and thousands of corporations are pouring millions into mining it.
Morning, sorry I missed this, I don't always get notified when someone replies, but I always try to reply to everyone. And yes, you know what they say "if its free to you, you're the product!"
I'll be honest. I hate Johnny when i first started the game. He felt so edgy and avoidant and too chaotic for his own good. Then i realized, i hate people who remove me of me. I'm avoidant due to my relationship with my parents. There was love but it felt fleeting and never lasts. All my relationships were the same. Until i grew up and realizedI'm also a problem. My search for red flags never helps. Never fills the void. I look back and hate myself. And Johnny is stuck in a purgatory form of data. And i felt awful for blaming him for something he could no longer control.
I have learned that the things we are annoyed by or hate in others are the things we hate in ourselves. But you being able to see that you have problems in yourself, is a step many choose to neglect. And Johnny is a well designed character for him to incite feelings.
@BeyondHorrorGaming i couldn't agree more. Pre Therapy is was starting to do deep introspections since I could at least recognize patterns. Now I'm doing my best to help other sew what took me 23 years to begin to grasp. I just started playing Cyberpunk again and I'm any to "Get Johnny". All I could think was, " I CAN fix him" jaha
@@rseven0 Well, then just thanks for being here, thanks for letting me know you were able to relate to Johnny and that you have things to think about. I'll change my comment to remove the part about you enjoying.
@ you make me wanna watch Black Mirror with my wife again 🙀
I think one of the biggest insights into Johnny comes from V at the start of the game. "I'm on a stage. So filled with hate. So I let it all out into the mic... and I realize... it didn't help."
Nothing Johnny did really mattered. Started a band to get his message out. No revolution. Nuked Arasaka tower. They just got stronger and built a new one. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
This is true. Damn, I should have put that into the script here 🥲
Nothing changed based on what he did because so much of what he shows V didn’t happen the way he presents it. Johnny is an outright cyberpsycho who has reinvented a new reality where he’s the big dramatic main character. In truth, he was a useful idiot hired by a Militech operative to be a distraction while Morgan Blackhand’s team planted the actual bomb.
@ Probably also feeds into his narcissism. He could not cope with being such a side character that he let himself into the grandeur.
@@ZeroKitsunei Just as the porter in Macbeth said ‘walk the primrose way to the everlasting bonfire.’
V's and Johnny's relationship was a thing of beauty
Most definitely, from hating each other to becoming brothers.
a thing of beauty will never fade away
I know
@@BeyondHorrorGamingOr brother, sister if V is female.
Yeah that definitely checks out and makes sense.
@BeyondHorrorGaming Yeah. His personality as we know it was likely made via his copious drug and booze binges
Absolutely, no lie.
@@BeyondHorrorGaming Yeah, and he DOES say he's been doing some thinking
I hated corporates way earlier than this game came out. So when I see Silverhand and his intentions I merged with his personality very smoothly. And I look like him in real life to!
It’s like they made Silverhand after you! 💯
Damned if you do and damned if you dont.
he is literally you

@@mastergroggle1825 😭🤝 Thanks brodoski! 🍻
One of the things I wonder about Johnny is how many of his flaws are actually his, but actually simply the opinions of the people around him that he's internalised.
(And tell you a lot about the people around him) He keeps the relationships in his life on way too high a pedestal, when they themselves are extremely flawed imo.
Hm yeah, I can see that. Like when people tell someone what they are like, so they begin to act as such and even become that.

💯🍻🙌 I AM happy and thankful for that. Glad YT is giving us small fish a shot to grow.
I'd be interested in your thoughts about:

@BeyondHorrorGaming I wouldn't say it's because people dont like it, this kind of content is big. I think its a luck thing partially, but focus on making content you want.
What the f!!!!??? NO! Oh my god!
@ holy moly! Thats MASSIVE!
🤝🤌💯🔥 Brother you said it best.

@ it was a quote from a gig in cyberpunk xP
@@idonotcarekek OK! I had a feeling, but wasn't sure, so I didn't want to commit to it! XD But it makes sense!
@ gotcha💯 and appreciate you to man, cheers 🍻
Amazing video
🍻 Thank you so much!
I definitely had Anxious/Avoidant growing up.
🥲 We’re still breathing though!!!!😭💪
I just did Don't Fear The Reaper -> Temperance Ending and Johnny ended up dropping his crusade against the Corps in order to do something different. I don't necessarily agree that he didn't learn anything or didn't evolve. I don't know what decisions he will end up making, but I would like to think my boy ended up carving a new path for himself. One where he could open his heart to others and live a long and happy life.
But then again I'm starting to love Johnny like I do Eren Yeager so my thoughts may be subject to the whims of my feelings.
And there’s nothing wrong with that either. Whims of feelings in our opinions make us human lol. But I agree with you insight on Johnny.
15:30
I know exactly whats it like to be fearful avoidant, anxious avoidant, whatever you wanna call it..
“I need to always be in “survival mode” because I don’t know what to expect on a moment to moment basis.”
“Oh she does love me, never mind she hates me, what did I do?”
“She loves me, she loves me not, so now I can’t trust anyone because they’re going to betray or break me.”
“I guess this is what love is supposed to be like, so abusive relationships are the norm”
“Damn, got hurt again, time to rebuild this wall harder and higher”
Id say my upbringing was ambivalent. Parents always fought and used me as a net, eventually filing for divorce. Ultimately never following through after years of drama. They were and are good parents and people when they arent primarily interested in their broken dreams and life choices and clashing over insecurities.
I think you're the first one to provide this perspective.
15:50 - thats my situation and 5 other people i know, faily common issue to have today i think
Very common, I agree, and it really all stems from how we were raised as kids. Parents who aren’t doing better need to do better 😢
A very interesting video
Happy you found it to be so 💯
I had decent parents, dunno what kind of attachment style they would fall into.
2:45, those are Johnny's dogtags, not his fellow soldier's. That is another thing he is misremembering. Like the heist on Saka Tower in 2023
Yeah that was definitely something that went over my head lol. Ty
@BeyondHorrorGaming anytime choom!
14:06 Disorganized, the Vietnam war left its scars.
🤌💯 You said it perfectly
I found Johnny kind of annoying at first, but now my character in game is his friend

Oh my god wow lol. That's just my "morning coffee" voice.
Avoidant.........shut in that takes care of responsibilities
Getting responsibilities done is still a big thing
Awesome video I have to say though Johnny looks really good wearing a suit.
💯 it definitely underscores the bitter irony, you said it well!
@RingworldTyrant I was actually wrong about this, yeah.
@@BeyondHorrorGamingThen some other suggestions for games you haven't covered yet:
Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2 & Borderlands the Pre Sequel (idk how much he's mentioned in other the games).
Gonna enjoy this 😊❤
Thank you bro! 🍻
@BeyondHorrorGaming really love your work!
@ That means a lot. It takes a lot to produce these, but I really enjoy making these videos. 🤝
@@BeyondHorrorGaming I understood all the Psychology theories and explanations!

I hate johnny but I also have so much love for johnny. That’s a testament to how good his character is I think.
Yeah I think so as well, very well crafted character
Im the biggest johnny fan in the world
Nice! Hope you enjoy this one!
Hi! Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t you do a psychoanalysis of Aiden Pierce or was that someone else? I couldn’t find the video
Hi, that has to have been someone else, I do not know who Aiden Pierce is. 😬
Gotta feed the algorithm gods with the comment.
Man, you are doing me such a huge favor, thanks for enjoying the videos, but going even further with the comments. Seriously, it does wonders.
It makes sense for sure. He's just as human as the rest of us, flaws and all.
Yea, that’s why I like him a lot, I even have his sunglasses irl, but yea he’s a good complex flawed character to reflect on what it means to be human
Pretty sure my attachment style is and was avoidant
Thanks for sharing, that's another person for avoidant.
This guy kinda sounds like Johnny ngl
😅
I didn't know any of that (I have no experience with the TTRPG), but it seems totally fitting that the Blue-Eyed Man would be involved (for profit) in the Arasaka Tower raid.
background song names?
I actually dont know because its my editor who puts it. But I think he gets it from one of those online music subscriptions.
Johnny is in Fortnite now be cool we get David and Rebecca as skins
Oh wow! Nice! And yeah, it would be amazing if they did. Especially Rebecca!
One day I hope to get sponsored. It would help because I would be able to make more videos.
And I didn’t know that about Better Help.
@ I understand how you mean, no worries 🙂. But I will look for a video on them, thank you.
Huh. He kinda sounds like me.
All you need is a mic to scream into and a big corporation to send that rage towards
@@BeyondHorrorGaming Nah you gotta do more than that.
This is perfect, I love this comment.
3/4... well..
😅
Hmm so jonny has borderline personality disorder then
Mmmm well, one might speculate.
Being someone with BD i agree with Sassy@BeyondHorrorGaming
@@matthewwarner9039 Well, how can I argue with someone who has a clinical diagnosis. 😅
I just, I don’t know, for some reason in my mind, I just don’t look at Silverhand and say “yeah BPD”. You know? But hey, I don’t know everything.
You love yourwife because Alt emotionally challenged Johnny? xD
🤣 No I am drawing a reference lol. 😂
I love my wife because she challenges me and doesn’t just always agree with me like so many women before her had.
But BRO 🤣 That made me laugh for real. “I love my wife because Alt challenged Johnny” 😭
@@BeyondHorrorGaming I mean romantic doesn’t have to sound reasonable 😂
@ 😭🤣 Love doesn’t always make sense. So that tracks!
@@BeyondHorrorGaming still absence of love is what also feels strange 🙂↕️ so there’s a part insanity in all of us seeking its counterpart.
Wow I have a lot in common with Johny 😬
🤪 Rockstar Anti Establishment!
Morning,
As I was listening to your video, I couldn't help but say to myself corporations are controlling the world and people for profit in the real world too.
@ 👏🙌💯🍻😂 “I can fix him” 🤣
@BeyondHorrorGaming i look forward to binging your videos after I get home. Hopefully the download helps
Thank you, hopefully too!
Johnny kind of freaked me out because I identified with him too much. This breakdown explained in detail why
Must have been a bit spooky.
@BeyondHorrorGaming Wouldn't say I enjoyed it but you did a good job on the detail. I think I have some stuff to figure out though
@@rseven0 Well, then just thanks for being here, thanks for letting me know you were able to relate to Johnny and that you have things to think about. I'll change my comment to remove the part about you enjoying.
