  • How To Critically Think In Nursing School (YOUR ULTIMATE GUIDE)
Isn't it so annoying that everyone expects you to know how to critically think, but no one tells you what that means?
In this video, I'm going to walk you through what critical thinking means, and how to do it in nursing school.
I'll also walk you through the DRC Critical Thinking Model for you to use as you study, and help you pass your exams with flying colors!
Here's a quick breakdown of the DRC Critical Thinking Model for nursing school:
    D: Definition/Description of what you're studying
    What is it?
    What's the description of it?
    R: Reason/Rationale
    Why does it happen?
    Why does it matter?
    C: Connection
How does it connect to everything else?
Example of how to use the DRC Critical Thinking Model:
    HEART ATTACK (MI):
D: There's a block of blood flow to the heart. Usually caused by a clot or plaque build up.
R: Blood vessels around the heart become blocked, and blood flow can't get to the heart (ischemia), leading to heart tissue death (necrosis).
C: (not an exhaustive list!) If the heart is injured, it can't function well: less blood going to the body, may cause pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, N/V; assess ECG, vitals, labs (troponin, CK-MB, LDH), pain, respiratory system; Give meds, oxygen, encourage rest.

Critically thinking was the hardest for me lol. Especially when all the answers seems right but you had to choose the most right one.

Thank you so much for all your vids, very helpful! I have a question and hoping u see this soon! Under description for MI, your wrote that it is usually caused by a clot or buildup of plaque. Why doesn’t that part go under R? I get really confused about what part exactly does the patho consist of 😕

    • @NursingSOS
      @NursingSOS  3 роки тому +1

Alexandra Eukers great question!!! So the D is simply the definition, so the overall what a heart attack or MI is a clot or build up of plaque is the general overview of what causes it. The R is the in depth patho, so what is caused by this build up of plaque or clot, and that is ischemia or necrosis. Hope that helps to clarify it for you a little more! Have a fantastic day! :)
