Salute to all the brave men & women from around the world who have given up their comfort, happiness & lives to defend their countries & the ones they love 🙏🏼❤️ 🌍 Special thanks to Drill Sergeant DePalo & his soldiers for allowing me to collaborate with them on this poignant cadence, I hope my tribute did the song justice.
More info:
Drill Sergeant DePalo leads his soldiers to Chow Hall at Fort Jackson, singing the Cadence "I Left My Home" (Originally posted 2016, but the video has recently resurfaced & has been made popular on TikTok). In the armed services, a military cadence is a traditional call-and-response work song sung by soldiers while running or marching.
The trumpet part was inspired by "The Last Post", a song that I would perform on Remembrance Day at my Highschool, Michaelhouse. The call dates back to 17th century, and was originally used made to signal that the final sentry post had been inspected, and the camp was secure for the night. It is now also used at ceremonies, like Remembrance Day (Poppy Day), to commemorate the lives lost in war.

Lyrics:
Your daddy was home when you left, you're right!
Your sister was home when you left, you're right!
Your brother was home when you left, you're right!
Your dog was home when you left, you're right!
Your cat was home when you left, you're right!
The fish was home when you left, you're right!
Your mommy and daddy, your brother, your sister, the dog, the cat, the fish
was home when you left, you're right!
And that's the reason you left, you're right!
I left my home, to join the army
I left my home, to join the army
The day I left, my momma cried
She thought that I would surely die
I left my wife, crying at the door
She knew that I would die at war
I left my son playing in the yard
Seeing daddy leave made him cry so hard
Oowie oowie, oowie oowie
Oowie oowie, oowie oowie
Left, march! We join the army

I saw the video a while back before the kifness touch. It was catchy even then. But now it's pure awesomeness 👌.
If I were to go to the army I would love drill sergeant like that.
I'm impressed by how he stays in tune without accompaniment
And seriously out of step -- but who looks at boots. 🤣
I highly agree!
My husband spent 12 years in the Army. He was medically discharged last year. He will never be the same. He left me while I was pregnant with our first son to go to basic training. I sent this to him. He said he sang this cadence in basic training. He cried as he sang along. We just celebrated 13 years together ❤️

I was an Army brat. "Leaving my son playing in the yard" made me tear up thinking about the times my dad had to leave me and my brothers. 😢
Oh, thank you for your service!!!
My brother passed away 13 years ago. He served in the Air Force. He was stationed in Alaska and 2nd in command at his base. He was a genius and went to officer school. He did over 200 life flight rescues. In July of 2010 he was founded dead in his apartment. Self-inflicted gunshot wound. His case is still open due to suspicious circumstances. The Air Force promoted him after his passing because he passed all his exams and graduated with honors. I never told my mom this, and only a few people know. I knew the day my brother died. The day it happened. I felt it in my spirit. I cried uncontrollably. I did understand why at the time. No one had to tell me. After listening to this and reading the comments, it made me cry again, and I haven't cried in a long time. I miss my brother deeply❤. Thank you and anyone else reading this. Thank you for your service.

Mannn, you too! When I was young man I had gotten myself into some trouble with the law in Los Angeles, California, same misdemeanor crime several times. The last arrest was carried over to a felony and I was facing prison time. The DA'S office offered me a booth camp program (RID) that would delete that arrest from my record and prevent me from serving a day in prison, the program was 90 days. I took the offer, It was so military like. We marched, jogged and did cadence. We went to school, group psychology meetings and church. I got alot of I'll thoughts and feelings off of my chest. I most definitely benefited from the program. I've never been arrested again, that was over 30 years ago. I wish I had gone to the military right after high school. It would have been my career for sure.

@Gustavo Figueiredo The fact of the point is, David Scott is innovative and he is amusing people with it. That's the whole point of his music. He is an artist. When others would do something better, they would deserve to be appreciated too. The important thing is, now many people are more responsive to the animal voices.
For making things more interesting here, we are bringing a prediction of someone whom we and many many others respect alot.
IN NEXT 7 TO 10 yrs. WE WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ANIMALS
How interesting it would be. The era of advance technology is already on the sprung.

What a powerful and moving tribute to our servicemen and women this turned out to be. I'm emotional thinking of all who have sacrificed so much....
He has the smoothest walk ever
Most “men” these days just mince around.
Marching is part of D&C or drill and ceremony. You don't march like you would be walking back on the Block. Your movements are very deliberate, back straight eyes front (no rubbernecking), a slight armswing and shortened gait. The shortened gate allows for Joe's that are in your formation that are height disadvantaged to actually keep up without running.
I retired from the US Army back in 1992. Best Cadence I've Ever Heard!

The trumpet is the instrument which brought the goosebumps
Yesss
In the Bhagavad Gita, the conch shell is blown just before the war- its reverberation can place you in that 'dichotomy' if you know the meaning of the finality of 'laying down your life'. be a soldier... its like to be a pawn in game of greedy hands, they are not fighting as said to protect beloved one if so then they will be defending their homes not an oil rigs or mines in Africa Middle East ect. most of the conflicts it not about race, religion, democracy or like USA call it "We are fighting for Peace" they are cuz of $$
I’m always wondering why veterans are so close to the army, do you guys take care of wounded animals?
@@Peter-nj5mv clever
Was a soldier of Russian Army for 2 years, can say it's very exciting to sing a song with whole company, very uniting feeling
@@firefighter9207 i belive but i just dont like the people join the army like in USA after that they get sent somewhere outside homeland and propaganda wash they mind so they belive they are doing something good for family ect... as i said its easy to manipulate young man full of energy and testosteron to go and kill people with difrent uniforms there is no such a thing as we FIGHT FOR GOOD..
Man, you have a talent for making not just music, but really great music out of just about anything that is the least bit rhythmic. This is a rare and wonderful thing, and I'm so grateful to you for sharing it here with us. Your name is going to be known by every family throughout the world in no time. Thank you, and please keep sharing with us. I love it! ❤
I've been out of the Army for almost 30 years. This brought me back and put a huge smile on my face!
Thank you for your service to us...
You can hear that the Sergeant is pretty much on time with his vocals, perfect precision.
Beat is timed with the left foot, same as command orders (watch as he commands the platoon to turn left. Preemptive command, then execute command, both given on the left foot). Always
Im ex British Army and the US marching songs always intrigued me! This was an amazing mix! thanks from an Vet!

Thank You For Your Service Sir 🇬🇧🏴
Better than the army songs you Brits have "I`m a lumberjack and I`m ok" ;-)
@@smuller8988 never heard that one buddy but ok!🤣

I once saw the original and now this with the music added…goosebumps the whole time both times. Thank you all for your service…we are forever indebted to you.
Damn, I’d march all day with cadence like this
Ladies and gentleman, this is what it looks like when you are a MASTER of your craft. ❤️
You have nice 🐈
@@Judosaper thank you 👍🏻
that trumpet is the icing in this wonderful cake
This hits so hard. I listen to a lot of your stuff, but youtube auto played this while I was at work and immediately the memory came flooding back of leaving for my second deployment leaving my wife and 7 month old son and all the emotions I felt as the ship pulled away from the pier.
This kind of exercise was a thing that my dad loved about his time in service (Korean war)
That's what I said too. He taught me the beginning of this cadence when I was a kid, and I taught it to my kid. I never served, but I love a good cadence and I wish I could share this with my Pop.
I love this track so much. Really great work. But I still have to cry everytime I listen to it. I served for 8 years in the german army and lost a friend in afganistan war. War kills, nothing else guys.
Sorry for your loss brother. My cousin Patrick was killed on his 5th combat deployment to Afghanistan for the US Army as a Army Ranger. They had been out on a combat patrol and heading back to their very very remote COP when the lead vehicle hit an IED and immediately came under heavy small arms fire and RPG fire and they said my cousin was on his 2nd or 3rd run to try and get his buddies out of the lead vehicle that had been completely destroyed from the blast before he was hit and killed before reaching his injured buddy and a ANA Soldier who both survived except for my cousin. His wife just gave birth to his first born child a little girl the day before he made the ultimate sacrifice. He was the 2nd or 3rd person in my family and bloodline that have been killed in the service of our country. But the one thing that my cousin always told us is that “if in-fact I do make the ultimate sacrifice while on a deployment I will die doing what I love and I will die with my boots on and will go out surrounded by the greatest group of the most badass American Warfighters on the planet. So don’t cry for me because I gave my life doing what I loved.” He was the epitome of what a Army Ranger was 110%. His older brother my other cousin who was also a Ranger with multiple combat deployments all over the world. He was a Ranger first and then he kept climbing the SF Ladder. But again man I’m sorry for the loss of your brother who made the ultimate sacrifice for the people of y’all’s country! Thank You for your service and thank you for your friends service and may he forever Rest In Peace. 🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸🇩🇪
Im sorry
Mein Beileid! Alles Gute aus Lübeck!
Thank you for your service sir.
Ach nicht Weinen, dein Kamerad ist gefallen damit dort Frieden einkehrt Terror bekämpft wird und Demokratie ja sogar Frauenrechte solls da nun geben.
Only a top musician can take a sample as sensitive as this and give it the greatness it deserves. I love this channel.
And consider this, the drill sergeant sang that in tune without any accompaniment, while calling commands and marching.
No need whatsoever for Kiffness to add lyrics like he does for cats.
Not sensitive at all
@@billybob01234567 I think that leaving your family behind to risk your life for an ideal is as sensitive as it can get.
@@sarahbasto6520 I know what you mean. We all came to this channel for the cats, and watching a video where the sample is the opposite in terms of seriousness, rings some alarm. But he's up to the challenge, and did it with mastery and respect. That's precisely the reason for my comment.
That drill sergeant who would give his life to protect anyone in his charge and country.
"War is the game played by old men with the lives of the young"
It takes a special kind of people to sing those lyrics with that fervor. Mad respect.
I didn't expect it to take a dark turn. Respect to those soldiers.
The Drill Sgt could carry a tune, and the producer just took it to another level
This song is beautiful and like a punch in the gut to me at the same time. My youngest brother enlisted 5 weeks after turning 17 (with our mom's signature). I don't even think he was fully through puberty yet. I'm ashamed to admit that me and my other brothers used to bully him and it was a large part of why he couldn't wait to leave. He did multiple combat tours, was stop-lossed, and almost blown up twice. We still see him around every couple of months. The guilt is unreal.
The line I find most amusing is "and that's the reason I left". As the hero of the song leaves both to defend them and to get rid of them".
As a Military Veteran I can honestly say." Well done " Thank You
Hooah!
Sir yessir oorah
The trumpet was so haunting. It brought me chills and a profound understanding of what sacrifice these warriors give.
The trumpet plays the minor chord version of the South African assembly call
Sacrifice? Warriors? You mean war criminals? They’ve been doing nothing but committing war crimes since the dawn of existence
Why is this a legit banger
The way you mixed the second pass thru the under pass, drenched in reverb and then the drum break.... Masterful my dude 👏🏻
for those who don't know, that was some very high end trumpet playing.. a clear tone takes years of practice, especially at lower volumes
maybe he autotuned it 😆
post processing helps a ton too, ;-)
14 year player here and you are TOTALLY CORRECT!
@@GIGroundNPound who is totally correct?
Apologies for not tagging @350 Zoomin. I just wanted to highlight how much I agreed with his post noting the "Kiffs" high quality playing and talent. If you read this, I hope you and yours are well and staying safe!
To all those who lay down their lives to protect us each day, thank you
Protect from what?
Amen ♥
The beauty in the untrained choir of voices is soul touching because you can feel their emotions not something they are trying to be
Thank you Kiffness! Made me cry!
