23:50 not every fly has to be a fast ty, especially if you like fly tying like me.....classic!!!!! I always try to make them fast. You here these guys in these videos 'you can make this fly under 3 minutes. I always butch it when I thinik you're not suppose to take longer than that. I'm going salt water fishin next month!! And I'm gonna get your material list and take my time. beautiful pattern fella. thanks for sharing.
Ernie Walker i always take my time.. But i know someone Will rather tie super fast.. But i enjoy the tying just as Much as the fishing so i dont mind sitting a few hours behind the vise.. Others watch a movie or read a book.. same same..
In response to the start of the video, when you mention the appeal of pink to sea trout, I would suggest the colour triggers a feed response to Krill. Just a suggestion.
A great tying as usual Morten,, and your videos are getting this almost cinematic look end feeling to them,,,, maybe it's the hat you are wearing ;) Awsome dude !! Greetings from Sweden !!
Amazing! I fish a lot of shrimp patterns here in Canada for our searun trout and now I HAVE to try this one. Definitely interested in seeing a cheaper version though because those Whiting Capes are eeeeeexpensive
you probably have your cheaper version, but for others who might wonder, follow the steps, only switch out the spey hackle with dubbing Loop and craft fur :)
I often wonder about the boiled shrimp colors as well. Maybe we should fish them in a 2 or 3 fly rig; the trailing flys being a lemon and a cocktail sauce imitation. I guess it would be hard to keep everything from tangling up in the currents and tide. But you're right in the winter, pink and orange is a great combo. In spring, summer and fall I also fish a black and oliveish body; either I keep the pink legs, or switch to orange. Good tip on the shell attachment, thanks.
Claus Eriksen has tried every color combination of this fly and as he says the pink is the winner both in winter, spring, summer, and fall but but when there is some UV in the "org. pattegris color" the fish will take the UV one 85% of the time no matter what other colors the trailing fly is ;-)
Great shrimp pattern. I like the way you are a little messy. Have you ever tried flashabou for that last body wrap, to give it a little glimmer? These colors and pattern types work great on the Gulf Coast here in Texas. I use a lot of synthetic fibers like SF and EP but I have been wanting to add more marabou to my saltwater flies. This has been a great tutorial for me to incorporate them. Thanks and keep them coming.
Thanks! No i usually dont use a lot of flash in my flies because it seems to have the opposite effect on seatrouts here.. Also this fly is super Fluorescent so no need to give it more bells or whistles.. 😅 Thanks for tuning in!
@@Coastfly Thanks for the response. On the part of the coast I am on the water here is a bit tainted with sand so a little flash helps but in skinny water, same here with timid fish.
@@Coastfly For us clear water is about 2 foot of visibility so the flash will work good for that but I will start out with dark colors in really murky waters and flies that will create more of a pressure wave (thicker or blunt near the eye) when retrieved through the water.
Keep up the good work Morten ;-) It would be nice if you tried to tie all of the different patterns You know of this fly and then in the last video you compare them all and give of a lesson on them :-)
Superb! Yes, cheaper option too, please!
Noted!

Probably Skunked hereby noted.. Ill drop a cheaper version video soon!
@@Coastfly amazing! Thank you!
Just use a substitute hackle for spey hackles or a big normal hackle. Will be slightly shorter but works fine too :)
you probably have your cheaper version, but for others who might wonder, follow the steps, only switch out the spey hackle with dubbing Loop and craft fur :)
It’s just such a good pattern
Mike Kuczynski sure is !
Really excellent tying and explaining!
Andreas Haase thank you! Glad you like it!
Excellent tie as always. Keep up the great videos. A cheaper option would be great!
Andy Jasonowicz comin’ up soon! 💯

Maybe dip the flies in cocktail sauce? I would probably eat Them myself then.. 🤷🏼♂️😅
Crazy cool 😎 thanks
Would a whiting hen spey cape work the same way as the rooster spey cape?
Yes! The hen feathers are a bit smaller though so you might not get as many size 4’s out of a hen Cape.. 😊👍🏻
Thanks it works, but I think I will try to get my hands on a rooster cape
Just awesome
Michael J McKinnon Thanks! 😊
it will be nice whit a cheaper version thanks fore all these great videos love them

Lance Schreckenbach i actually switch to Black flies in murky water... Works Wonders around here! 😊

Lance Schreckenbach makes sense! 😊
Great job
Top pattegris I've ever seen 👏
crazy trout attacks pink shrimp with crazy stripes mouth swimming reverslelly
Really how ? 🤭
Good video!! A video of a cheaper alternative would be great
This fly has been everywhere on Instagram!
Addison Lackey everywhere around the World as Well..
Nice, well done
Carl Eklind Thanks! This is a musthave fly! 💯
Coastfly Yepp, always a bunch in the box. Also deadly in tan.
Carl Eklind i mix tan with a bit of fluo. Yellow dubbing.. Killer..
Keep up the good work Morten ;-)

Biohaxar That’s not a bad idea actually.. I guess i Could do that.. 😊👍🏻
Is that a roster or hen spey feather?
That’s a rooster. Hen Will work too! Allthough the fibers Will be a bit shorter and there are not as many good feathers on the hen capes. 😊
@@Coastfly I called a guy selling some capes. He said the barnules on hen hackle are around an inch
What are the cheaper alternatives for the spey? 😀
Look at my latest upload from last week... ;-)
@@Coastfly thanks 😀
Perfect ...!!!!!!!!! :-)
where can you buy the materials to tie this fly
Bryan Ion Depends on where you live.. I would suggest googling it.. Hardest to get would be the whiting spey Cape in salmon pink..
@@Coastfly yep, i can see that cannot find one anywhere here in the UK.
Bryan Ion try nordicanglers.com 😊
@@Coastfly many thanks for the reply, do you have a list of what the top patterns are for Denmark. For the next time i get over to visit.
Bryan Ion Grey fred, brenda, pattegrisen, flatwings and a few kobberbassen.. that Will get you a fish no doubt with that setup!
The Birdfur version would be finde
@@lololooo5041 craft fur also Works very Well!
You don't tie in lead? But really nice tie otherwise!
horst no i dont.. I fish intermediate lines so i have no problems getting the fly down.. Plus i like to fish very shallow water as Well.. 😊
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
You would send me a pair of such flies for trial and specimen. I was very grateful to you.
You look like I feel.....
Very Nice 👍🏻 or should I say. Bra jobbat, du är nästan lika bra som vi är. Du är varmt välkommen till Mörrumsån. ;)
