All these years, I never knew there was video footage of this performance. I stayed up waiting for this performance to broadcast on the radio when I was a young teen. I'm almost 40 now. Man this brings back memories...
I was a sophomore I stayed up recorded everything on tape. I’m sure I have the tape somewhere. I also wrote down Eddie & Beth’s number, by the time I had the nerve to call it was disconnected, miss those days 🖤
"Ten" dropped when I was 14yrs old. "Vs" dropped when I was 16yrs old. "Vitalogy" dropped when I was 17yrs old. "No Code" dropped when I was 18yrs old. (In sports? That's called a "F'ing DYNASTY!")
The waiting drove me mad You're finally here and I'm a mess I take your entrance back Can't let you roam inside my head I don't want to take what you can give I would rather starve than eat your bread I would rather run but I can't walk Guess I'll lay alone just like before I'll take the varmint's path Oh, and I must refuse your test A-push me and I will resist This behavior's not unique I don't want to hear from those who know They can buy but can't put on my clothes I don't want to limp for them to walk Never would have known of me before I don't want to be held in your debt I'll pay it off in blood let I be wed I'm already cut up and half dead I'll end up alone like I began Everything has chains, absolutely nothing's changed Take my hand, not my picture, spilled my tincture I don't want to take what you can give I would rather starve than eat your breast All the things that others want for me Can't buy what I want because it's free Can't buy what I want because it's free Can't be what you want because I Why ain't it supposed to be just fun? Oh, to live and die, let it be done I figure I'll be damned all alone like I began
You know music my friend. Irons was a classically trained percussionist and my favorite PJ drummer! People wouldn't shut up about Dave A. He was a great ROCK DRUMMER.. I will take the percussionist any day..
That's Kelly Curtis. PJ's manager. Krist was clean shaven at the time and wearing a suit when he was there. (Footage of that is in the documentary "HYPE!"
I never liked Jack Irons and the people who constantly praise him. Matt is better but both play too much, they accelerate live shows and destroy the flow. Yeah, kill me...
Has anybody said anything about that too cool for school dude just sitting there while they’re playing? So annoying. Two feet from PJ playing and he’s lifeless. Haha
Maybe he's a family member, friend or roadie of the band. He's probably heard enough Pearl Jam. Also, It looks to me like he's tired and had a bad day, he's only human. That doesn't necessarily make him "too cool for school"
@@davidbattaglene6873 He's still playing in Mudhoney. He's also on Nirvana single "Sliver" which was recorded after Chad Channing left and before Dave Grohl was hired.
Boys were on verge of rock royalty at this time. Both financially and in world rock. Eddie was struggling taking that next and final step. They deserved it. Yup!! Same . 40 here.
Where is this footage from? I don’t remember seeing it on PJ20?
Same...January 1995..I was 17yrs old.
Basement apartment bedroom at parents house my Sr yr HS.
Listened to this entire broadcast out Kansas City
I've seen footage on "HYPE!" Doc 1996

I listened to this entire broadcast, 17yrs old in January 1995.
In Kansas City on 105.9 The Lazer
Jan 1995. When radio stations in Kansas City was fantastic. Listened to this entire broadcast on 105.9 the lazer. I was 17 and knew this was important
May be the only live version of this where it doesn’t sound like they’re rushing through it. Never thought I’d hear it. Awesome.
Stone Gossard is a gorgeous man
Jeff, too!
Very true. He is very sexy in his demeanour.
Hey, he's an old man now!!!
Not gay, but Jeff Ament better looking
2:33 - gives me chills!!
"Okay kiddies"
Eddies voice! Dying!!
First PJ song I learned to play on guitar. Such a kick ass song.
"Ten" dropped when I was 14yrs old.
"Vs" dropped when I was 16yrs old.
"Vitalogy" dropped when I was 17yrs old.
"No Code" dropped when I was 18yrs old.
(In sports? That's called a "F'ing DYNASTY!")
Based on that, you are born in 1977, just like my brother and my sister 😊 and thanks to them, i love PJ
@@Ranotheonevery good brotha
"Vitalogy," dropped my Sr yr.
17yrs old.
It's ridiculously A MASTERPIECE
Great version of Corduroy!🎸
Stone Gossard is a heart of Pearl Jam!
Would love to be “the guy on the couch”
Dan Peters, drummer extraordinaire from Mudhoney and a great guy.
Vitalogy is 30yrs old soon.
MASTERPIECE
the best grunge song. period.
Mmmmmm I would say that... ok you're right.
These guys are so talented... No other band can play like this while changing wardrobe every few seconds....
You guys need to upload the whole performance! The quality of this is insane
A Sunday night. Late 1994. I tuned in for the PJ sets, but heard as-of-yet unreleased Mad Season and the debut of a new band featuring Dave Grohl
The waiting drove me mad
You're finally here and I'm a mess
I take your entrance back
Can't let you roam inside my head
I don't want to take what you can give
I would rather starve than eat your bread
I would rather run but I can't walk
Guess I'll lay alone just like before
I'll take the varmint's path
Oh, and I must refuse your test
A-push me and I will resist
This behavior's not unique
I don't want to hear from those who know
They can buy but can't put on my clothes
I don't want to limp for them to walk
Never would have known of me before
I don't want to be held in your debt
I'll pay it off in blood let I be wed
I'm already cut up and half dead
I'll end up alone like I began
Everything has chains, absolutely nothing's changed
Take my hand, not my picture, spilled my tincture
I don't want to take what you can give
I would rather starve than eat your breast
All the things that others want for me
Can't buy what I want because it's free
Can't buy what I want because it's free
Can't be what you want because I
Why ain't it supposed to be just fun?
Oh, to live and die, let it be done
I figure I'll be damned
all alone like I began
We'll end up alone like we began
Deeper than Mel's Hole

Jeff Ament, the #1 "quiet" badass of early-mid 1990s
Jack Irons really rocks this song. I loved his playing. So underrated

A very close up of Krist@ 4:08 from Nirvana, I could be wrong but it looks like the gentle giant!! 😊💓🤘✌️
That's Kelly Curtis. PJ's manager. Krist was clean shaven at the time and wearing a suit when he was there. (Footage of that is in the documentary "HYPE!"

I think this footage is the documentary Hype!
Sick
How many takes of this song were done for the radio broadcast? You can see that Mike and Jeff changed outfits at least once.
me vuelvo loco
How mad
Wasnt Layne at the house too?
Yes
Layne, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Mad Season, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney were all there.
jack's drums...
u2norton Nothing against the Daves or Matt, but Jack Irons was their best drummer. His sound was like thunder.
Very hard song to sing
Is that SG drummer Matt Cameron at the 2:00 mark?

That's your house Eddie? Get a better job man.
Not a big fan of Jack Irons.
G. Lawrence
The feeling is mutual
G.C. Lawrence he doesn't have my favorite style of PJs drummers but PJ wouldn't even exist if it weren't for him
Better than Matt for sure
Because worst drummer pj
@@muhsintoksoy3523 - Yeah, you can really hear how terrible he is on songs like "In My Tree"

Now I think bout it?
Good choice.
U2 prob closest thing.
I got the double-album..
"Rattle & Hum", Xmas 1988.
I was 11yrs old.
STP is def up there...
Nirvana...if u add everything.
Throw in "Unplugged"
(Which arguably is greatest album ever made.)
McCready? Boy he BARELY made it out alive of 1995.
He was "hanging with Staley too much."
They made a beautiful album tho. "Above."/Mad Season
it's nice to see the great dedication to the music
Best version EVER!!!!
Has Jack Irons written a memoir yet?
Where is this footage from?
Oh cool thanks
Thanks y’all! Pearl Jam fans are the best! We’re like a family. Always helping each other out!
Wondering what the song was about

Damn Jack Irons really sucked, funny the others just looked the other way and ignored his drumming
