The Golf still has multilink suspension in the rear, while Skoda is torsion beam. Only the vRS and limited edition has multi-link. Pretty clear market segmentation here, VW is the more upmarket brand.
Have Skoda Australia elaborated on why they used the 18" Perseus wheel the same as the Style instead of the 18" Vega alloy used elsewhere in the world? Those Perseus alloys really don't suit the 'Sportline' look.
Quite a decent car, I have the previous model in this trim, unfortunately Skoda Australia still pushing the 1.4 engine, midlife update available in Europe so I guess it's a bit of a wait for aussies....
Has a proper transmission not those CVTs which struggle and break in the hills where I work. Ive ordered a sportline sdn in blue, looks great and shed loads of tech, safety and kit. Looked at 4 other makes nothing came close for BFB.
When you think you're reviewing the NEW Octavia..... but you're in OZ..... and the real NEW Octavia that's just about to be released to Europe & the UK is a year away for you!
This is Australia, not UK. The only similarity is left hand traffic, shared with India, Japan & South Africa. Countries conquered by Napoleon (and their colonies) and those that just wanted to be different for the sake of it or create a defacto trade barrier, adopted right hand traffic. That's mimicking.
Great review, great value for money car. Looking forward to a review on a VRS wagon.
The Skoda Octavia family has successfully made the Golf family uncompetitive. At least you get a larger wagon at a price similar to the Golf Life.

@@nvnh319 That's true, but it's not worth it for everyday city use.
I went from a Golf MK8 to a 2023 Octavia Style. Better than the VW
In every way
Love my ‘23 Octavia Style!

No comment on noise intrusion or highway tyre noise?

I think this video will get outdated too fast. The facelifted Octavia was just unveiled in early 2024...
Great car
