great cage set up .....eventually .lol. i'm the same setting up the cage then totally moving everything around again until i'm happy .now i take photos of any setups i do that i really like so i know how to do them again .
Adorable hamster and awesome bin set up!!! One suggestion, if I may, best to use sand instead of Chinchilla powder. Powder/dust is too fine and can cause respiratory issues. Awesome job, that is one lucky little hamster 🐹 💕
The ones they sell here in the Netherlands are safe to use. Here they actually recommend using chinchilla sand instead of any other type of sand. Here they say that other types of sand is too coarse and therefore cause skin irritation. But thank you for sharing your concern, I appreciate it 😊
@@supremehammy Ok, good to know. I think I have heard in different regions Chinchilla sand is different than what is available here in the the States. 😁
European chinchilla sand isn't produced the same as American chinchilla sand, and is recommended in Europe. But in America reptile sand is preferred and chinchilla sand should be avoided. Things are not the same worldwide...
I actually don't know. I've read that the ones you find in nature can contain wax which can be toxic to animals. The ones you can buy in pet shops are free of this wax. Not sure how they do that tho..
'Depends where the darling hamster pees. if the darling decides to use the sand bath that you shift and clean daily, the bedding may last half a year, maybe longer for a deep cleaning. I also clean the wheel daily as mine pees there too, which means I spot clean the bedding under the wheel weekly. If the darling chooses to pee in a corner, the corner bedding gets a weekly clean. I don't worry so much about the poop as it doesn't smell like the pee. But when I do a deep clean, I scoop up as much poop as possible, but leave half of the bedding behind. A hamster is less stressed of their scent in the bedding, so reuse a third of it after a deep clean... On the other hand if you have a tiny toy pet store cage with practically no bedding, you will have to deep clean weekly to control the smell of ammonia, the pee... More bedding makes a huge difference... You really don't save the costs of bedding using a little at a time, better to use a lot at a time so it lasts longer...
I only spot clean the cage, just like Ron described. But Saartje has a secret toilet haha, I can't find her pee or poop spot so I just leave it the way it is. Sometimes she digs up the dirty bedding and I can throw it away but I'm never gonna mess up the setup and her tunnelsystem just for spot cleaning. Usually hamsters are clean animals that hate a dirty nest so.. But whenever its time to change the setup, I'll search for her toilet area. But most of the time she cleans her tunnelsystems by digging up the pee and poop. And whenever a hamster dies, got very sick, has parisites or when the bedding is just super dirty, I will change all of the bedding. But if not, than I'm not gonna change it because you will remove all of their scent and that will cause unnecessary stress.
I have a decent sized cage for my hamster its got a few floors but not room to burrow or anything and i really want to give her a bin cage but i dont wanna ask my mother as the cage was 50 pounds
You can also make a cage made from ikea furniture or hamster safe wood, it doesn't have to cost much. You can also add more space to dig in your current cage by adding plexiglass to the sides of the cage, a hamster needs a lot of floorspace so if your cage is big enough, this can be a great option.
Yes they absolutely need lids all hamsters are escape artist if you look into more bin cage videos theyll teach you how to make a lid so the hamster can breathe

They are ceramic and that is safe to use, but I'm not sure if the paint is safe. But my hamsters do not chew on them so I'm not too worried about that 😁
The one I use is actually a bit soft, there are no sharp edges. Most of the bedding they sell in the Netherlands are safe to use, but not all of them so thanks for sharing this, I will keep this in mind if I want/need to switch between brands.
This one is actually a little bit bigger than the minimum cage size in the Netherlands, but I agree its small even when its a bit bigger than the minimum. I'm planning on giving her a bigger cage in the near future.
The ones in the Netherlands are completely fine to use. They actually say that sand is to rough for their skin and fur.. I guess it depends on which country you get your sand/dust from.
Love this! The natural vibe is so nice and really shows u can make a really enriching and pretty cage even with a bin cage. 💛Xx
Thank you so much! 🥰

It doesn't have to cost a lot of money to give ur hammy a big cage, sometimes you just need to be a little bit creative 😁

… a bin cage is cheaper then an actual cage what😂you shouldn’t of gotten a hamster if you can’t give it the right enclosure….

so good for normal cage

Such a beautiful setup 😍
Your hamster must love her new enclosure great job 👍
Thank you! She loved it so much that she destroyed the whole setup 😂 So it's time for a new setup..
So cute🐹 🥹 it’s a great setup bin cage
Thank you 🥰
god bless you for changing this hamsters life!!!!
❤
Very nice! Lovely hamster! ❤️
thank you!!
She looks so tiny in the wheel LOL, very cute!
Omg indeed 🥺
Great vid! What bin do you use and where did you get those adorable mushrooms?
Thanks! It's from a Dutch store called Action
@@supremehammy how big is the bin :) im also dutch haha! hoi
Oh hallo! 😁 De kooi is 76 x 57 x 42 cm. De oppervlakte is net iets groter dan de minimum. Prima voor een dwergje dus!
Hey I wouldn't recommend using chinchilla bath powder as it can be dusty and cause respatory problems retile sand will work great

@@ronclark9724 ok well I didn't know chinchilla sand can be really dusty
Some of them can be very dusty but most of them are fine 😁
I personally don’t like bin cages idk I had one for a a short while for my Syrian but this looks really nice
hello! love this video ❤️ you are very creative! i want to ask where you got most of the products put in the bin from ?!
Aww thank you 🥰 I got it from Dutch webshops, but they don't sell word wide so I'm not sure if I can help you with this.. 🙁
Would it be safe to find pinecones outside and put them in her cage? (After boiling)

Bro that massive curly branch across the cage is GORGEOUS, do you know what type it is? Id love to use some in my cage :D
I think it's hazel. :) Twisted corkscrew hazel to be precise.
Its a grapewood branch. I looove using these branches, they fill up the space so well. But they are very heavy so they need support.
I have some twisted corkscrew hazel branches as well! They look so lovely in a nature themed setup 😊
How often do you change the bedding on a bin enclosure like this?

Where did you get the branch? What type of wood is it?
A *bit* late but it's from a willow. The type with curly branches. Not sure what it's called in English
You can give the link of the cork where you bought it
? please?
I bought them from Dutch webshops, they don't sell world wide. I'm sorry..
How big is your bin cage?

Hey. What types of bedding did you use?
A mix of hemp bedding and undusted wood shavings 😊
the plate and the decorative stone is for reptiles, I think they are made of resin, are these are safe for hamsters?
They are ceramic and that is safe to use, but I'm not sure if the paint is safe. But my hamsters do not chew on them so I'm not too worried about that 😁
Please please don’t use cedar bedding if that’s cedar bedding because it can cut or really hurt any small animal you have

Looks nice but the Cage is in my opinion way to small 😕
100x50x50xm would be way better!

The Cage is too smalllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This cage is actually the minimum size for dwarfhamsters, but she wasn't in here for long because I think bigger cages are better!
