  • MDOT SHA is committed to enhancing safety for pedestrians across the state. This week, we activated a High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) beacon on MD 450 (West Street) in front of the Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library. Unlike a standard traffic signal, the HAWK beacon’s lights remain off until a pedestrian activates it. This will be the second HAWK beacon on a Maryland highway and the first in Anne Arundel County. Check out how it works.
