The FALL of OpTic Gaming

  • Опубліковано 7 січ 2025
  • OpTic Gaming was once a humble group of gamers that didn’t have major backing, no vast capital from venture capital firms, nor a well-equipped team of professionals running the show -
Instead, it used sponsorship money to pay its players and personalities, to fund its expansion into other titles, and to create compelling videos. It was simply a group of guys who enjoyed competing at video games and creating content.
Spearheaded by Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, #OpTicGaming found itself at the forefront of gaming content on UA-cam and a major figure in #esports through Call of Duty. Over the years, it acted as an internet celebrity factory, spawning a number of #gaming superstars such as Matthew “Nadeshot” Hague, Ian "Crimsix" Porter and Seth “Scump” Abner.
Before it received major backing, the only competition that the organisation had was in FaZe Clan and that too was because of a well-crafted blend of excelling in both content and competition. However, once Neil Leibman, Co-owner of Texas Rangers invested in November 2017, things changed drastically.
Moving away from shared houses that acted as both a living quarters and hotbed of content in Chicago, H3CZ and his army of online celebrities jumped ship to Frisco, Texas to begin the next chapter in OpTic Gaming’s story.
What transpired over the next 18 months, however, may have cut the legendary brand’s legacy short and resulted in its degradation and potential demise. But how this did all happen, and so soon?

OpTic wasn’t founded on it being a business, it folded into that. But it’s foundation was a family, people that didn’t see it as a family but a cash cow made it die.

I remember back in 2012-2015 when you would catch a tournament stream and it be like faze vs nv and it would only have 20,000 viewers but then when it was optic vs any team the views would jump to over 100,000. OG has the most incredible story to tell but the world goes fast and hecz himself has passed his limits. Young nade has created the next OG in his own manner, dodging all the bad moves OG made, the contents are now better, the company grows fast, the players win competitions, the hype is high for 100T, and it crushes even more OG i am afraid... i cannot imagine OG coming back sorry, with all the love and respect i have for OG, magic can t happend twice.

Optic should have never expanded to get a CSGO team from India, not because Forsaken got caught cheating, but just because it didn’t make much sense. Should’ve invested more into a much more stable roster than the Danish one they had and the Indian one.

When you create something organic/authentic/loved by fans, stay in touch with your demographic. AYou just took the whole family vibe, the "we stand together through tough times" and threw it out the window. Optic going international, with its teams, didn't make any sense at all. It goes against everything, what optic was build up to be.

:( they gotta win champs man. Do it for Hector, content team, gears team, halo team, and greenwall. They played so bad in this event. They just gotta redeem themselves in win the big one cause man was this year the worst in terms of OpTic. I believe in them because what they showed this event wasn't them at all. I'm pretty sure the bootcamp really decreased their play style. They just gotta grind these two weeks because I think this champs anyone has a big shot at winning it.

Woah, woah woah, slow down. During the WW2 season they didn't win a major. They won a major during the Black Ops 4 season, in December. They are going through a very rough patch right now. Despite having a team that on paper, should be destroying. Now this rough patch seems to be lasting a particularly long time. However, they are still a force to be reckoned with and in all honesty, all teams will be hit next year due to franchising, which will be interesting to see. Only then might we begin to see what could be described as a fall. But right now, it's premature. I will watch and enjoy the video nonetheless; as always it's likely that the Dexerto team will have something of interest to say, as is usually the case.
