Mourinho gave a list of players he needed, and when he didn't get them he had to start asking different things than what his players abilities and egos couldn't manage to do. After that there was no point. He couldn't bring the team to his vision.

My gut feeling tells me that ETH might be the lukiest of them all because the SJR and his football knowledge/in mind structure might just save the day and the rest for ETH. all he needs to do is to ensure UCL football which if you ask me, should not be am impossible task. Thank his stars, his key players are beginning to get closer to return. If he navigates what is left of November and gets a 55-65% score card in December, he can achieve that.
We will see the SJR structure begin to manifes itself by May/June starting from January to be Frank.

I personally think Ole was underrated. He was one of the most successful managers since SAF. Was he perfect? no but he was keeping the team in the big leagues. As this video rightly points out the problems stem from the owners and the CEO of the club. Woodward was an absolute embaracement and the glazers even more so. I think if Ole was in a better position in terms of the club he would have been way more successful.
He was working with what he had. People complain about he not having a strategy on the field. How could he have a strategy with so much deadwood in the team? Until the transfer business improves, no manager would be successful at this club. And that wouldn't happen until Glazers leave.

Ole actually did quite well with such a trash team. During his tenure, an overrated chap like Pogba played his best football, Maguire was at its best. He atleast kept the team gelled together rather than have rifts with players. Also, under his tenure Man Utd went an entire season unbeaten in away games (though there were no crowds) but still is an achievement. He even had a better record against Pep considering Pep team's weakness against counterattacking football. If only Ole was given proper signings and long term backing, he was destined to win them a trophy.
Ferguson left an indifferent team which would not have won their last premiership title without Ferguson’s management. What was needed was a complete rebuild but instead the last 10 years have seen individuals being signed creating a patchwork quilt of a team. Instead of building a new team all the focus has been on trying to avoid a few relatively bad years during a rebuild and the result has been a lack of real progress, a management merry go round and an indifferent inconsistent team which is little better than when Ferguson left.
Sacking Mourinho was the biggest mistake they made. It is no wonder that a dressing room full of people who care more about what party they will go to instead of football disliked Jose and even then he got them success. Just to remind Jose got 2nd in the league with for lack of a better word a midtable squad with the occasional individuals having purple patches. Porto , Chelsea 2x , Inter and Madrid were all filled with much more mature characters who understood Jose's tough love and thived because of him. Only at United and Spurs did Mourinho have serious problems with the dressing room , United dressing room was filled with a bunch of egotistical brats and at Spurs it was filled with parrenial losers who like to settle in mediocrety rather than "bleed to win" even though both of them had talented individuals.
Not sure you can do a video like this and not cover the fact that the squad was massively in decline before Fergie left, he over delivered in that last season. They were already going downhill

Maybe he over delivered . He surely under delivered in terms of ensuring that the great generation he had at his disposal was replaced with new great players . A manager should think not just of his career but of the club that pays him . Nobody bigger than the club but in reality Ferguson failed to have a plan in place for the future , and then just left .

The main problem was focusing on signing mainstream players like schweinsteiger ,Pogba , Antony,Depay,DiMaria,Ibrahimovic ,Onana etc these players come with massive salary demands and transfer fees . United under Fergie were masters of signing players everyone else was sleeping on and they should have stuck to that but you will need a heck of a scouting team for that. United should have upgraded the scouting department and the rest would have been history.

The rot at ManU has been allowed to fester for years. It's not like 💩 wasn't pointed out by Mourinho and later by Rangnick. But what did the club do?
They sacked them both.
The first time the club followed anything near a proper strategy was when ETH took control...they got rid of a load of deadwood players for a huge loss and then gave him all the transfer funds he wanted.
But not only is ETH not really good enough to take ManU back to the top...there is still a huge problem with the playing staff. One massive issue concerns entitled players...yes.the club got rid of players like Pogba and Lingard...but players like Rashford and Martial were retained...and other toxic players like Sancho and Anthony came in.
ManU is rightfully trying to get Sancho out...but they are doing it the wrong way...and they are still stuck with the rest.
The rot will take years to clean out now....whoever owns or manages ManU. But if this was understood when Jose was in charge, ManU would be a lot better off now.

You may argue on the tactics part yes but he wasn't that bad either. He finished 3rd and 2nd in his first three seasons until his team suffered a massive slump of form that led to his heartbreaking sack.

It is even better ths season.....I had a wreck during Moyes time, the last days of Mourihno, towards the end of Ole and almost died during Ralph Ragnicks days,.
ETH made me a man again last season. He has had a very poor start that has left us in 6th place, 7 places behind the leaders and 4 points behind 4th place after all the issues we had. Luke and AWB are back....We expect Lisandro and Casemiro next month, and if SJR spends as they say he plans to in January, we might just nick top 4 and the pain of UCL will have desisipated.
After then, we will begin to experience the much better days of a functional structure of Sir David Brailsford and the marginal gain theory, CEO blanc and the master in transfer biz Paul Mitchel do thier magic.
It will not be easy but a great departure from the dark days when Glazers and his Proteges like Ed wood ward, Richard Arnold, and John Mortough ran us down like amateaurs.
These will all rub off on ETH and his squad and our dutch tactican will have the peace of mind to do his magic again on the pitch.
IT WAS A POORLY RAN CLUB FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS.......SJR might just be our last chance to change our story from bad to good....We can only hope and pray so.

Ole was good during his time. The author seems to have an inherent bias against him. He finished 2nd once, 3rd once, made 1 final of Europa league, 2 semi final of Europa league, 1 Fa Cup semi final, 1 Fa Cup semi final, 1 Efl Cup semi final all in 2 full years in charge. Had we backed him and given him his signings like arsenal did with arteta it would have been different.

It needs to be pointed out that the current squad have the highest injury list probably ever in the clubs history. 11 first squad players are out. 5 first choice defenders out while they are trying to bed in a new keeper. Utd have not fielded a first choice full squad this season , so the manager is struggling to impose his style of play. We are only 13 games into a 40 game season and are still in the top 6 only 6 points behind the first spot. Not as bad aa people think IMO.

Another factor that contributed to the downfall of Man United is the fact that they prefer to serve the stars instead of the managers. Let's be honest, if stars like Rashford,Sancho,Martial,Antony,... were playing for teams like Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham or Arsenal. They wouldn't even last a season, too egoistic, absolutely no work ethic yet somehow still crowned as the "future" of the team. Harry Maguire was not a good player, but he put in great effort and had passion for the club, unlike these clowns.

Very well put out video but what new CEO are we talking about? If it's Richard Arnold, then he has departed the club this week. And the confirmation for a new CEO is yet to be ratified (Jean-Claude Blanc the increasingly likely candidate). Hopefully it's the dawn of a new era as you said, but unless SJR finds a pathway to gaining full ownership from the glazers in the near future, it'll be very difficult to envision significant change. Be interesting to see how it all pans out, though.

Y'know, as Barca fans who the club more or less in the same position as United (hell we were in even worse position with that debt and Messi departure) I think the one reason why Barca could win that La Liga title is simply going back to their identity.
