- Bleaching Pitch Black hair and giving it the transformation it needs!
Dark black hair is the most difficult to lift, especially if its previously dyed, which is why taking these next steps are best to ensure a good result.
1. Managing expectations. If you're doing your hair at home, platinum blonde shouldn't be your goal. Aim for 3-5 shades lights for a gentle yet effective result.
2. Work with small sections. Doing a whole head of 20 inch black hair will take you 10+ hours and can be a challenge. Doing a smaller section like a money piece or hairline is an effective way to transform without effecting more than 10% of your hair.
3. Use a good bleach. I went in with Schwarzkopf BlondeMe 9+ lightener but Amazon, Sally's or you nearest beauty supply store have just as good bleaches.
4. Use 20 volume developer. This is the safest way to bleach the hair thoroughly without damaging it to a point of no return.
5. Saturate the hair well. Once you pass over a section, pass over it again. The hair has to be soaking in bleach to ensure an even, uniform lift.
6. Always tone the hair. Even if the hair color looks okay, a gentle toner or gloss will help smooth the color and give it a shinier finish. I went in with Igora 6-491 for a chocolate finish.
7. Hydrate the hair. After any chemical change, but especially after bleach, always moisturise the hair and use leave ins and serums for a health boost and added shine.

Very stunning. It reminds me of back in the day when I had pitch black hair and wanted to slowly get back to blonde. I did highlights all over and the resulting color was pretty similar. I did that process like every three months from that point on and eventually got to a level 8 copper blonde which I kept for several years before I finally went back to actual blonde. I would not recommend going straight from black to blonde though, unless one doesn't care about insane damage and taking off quite a lot of length. I did it slow and controlled back then because I worked in front of a camera during that time and could not risk messing with my hair (but on screen the black looked so bad on me, I really didn't wanna keep it).
I like how the brush promotion was less intense this time. Felt less like the video was a whole ad for the brush, but still

Hi Stella, as someone with virgin black hair, I have always struggled to understand my options when it comes to hair colour. I do NOT want to bleach my hair because I already experience hairfall and I don't want to damage my hair any further. What would you recommend?
If you want lighter you have to lighten I have a client that does a high lift color. We use double 30 vol to lift to honey Blonde on her medium brown hair. If your want a few shades lighter and highlights not all over lighter that's a great option. But if you want more than 2 levels of lift or all over lighter you're going to have to use a bleach lighter. Most of my clients with black hair actually lift easily with ease and minimal time. Depending on how light you're wanting you could probably use a low and slow method to limit damage immensely.
@@jadennichole so basically i could go for highlights and choose a very light colour with a 30 vol- which would lift my hair up 2-3 shades... did I get it right? And this is also the least damaging option available?

Wish I would have known about this 10 years ago when I had black box dye in my hair and no hairdresser would remove it, I just wanted to be lifted to a brown any brown would have been ok but I was too scared to do it myself because I thought my waist length hair would break off, so I had to grow it out and then I finally met a guy who did hair on side and he told me I should just go ahead and bleach it, I had to give in and do it what a nightmare that was 😮but my hair is ok now 😁
I think it's accurate to what she predicted in the beginning, it wasn't gonna be blonde. Also toning hair that dark is kind of difficult to get the warmth out

I miss the old Stella. I don’t like these wigs and ugly dye jobs. I used to watch because it was so pretty and I wanted your hair (in pretend world lol) but these wigs and hair styles just don’t look good. Can’t wait until your hair starts growing back so you can do it on your real hair. Or maybe get better wigs (which can probably be expensive so idk). Sorry!
