Damn. They really ment they weren't going to help him. Sad you have to put people and institutions on blast to see results. IRS petty as hell. But let them be on the short end of not getting what they are owed. Smt
It was actually the Records Department. They entered the wrong date in their computer system when he was born in 1998. No one became aware of the discrepancy until information from different sources had to match -- and didn't.
When I was in college, someone mistyped a single digit of my SSN. The school returned my financial aid saying I wasn’t enrolled there. Took a couple months to get that fixed. Still not as bad as this guy’s mixup.
@Cian MacGana you do realize that you don’t have a social until you are born right? They have to have a birth certificate to issue you a social. I don’t know how they can let someone choose a date. Nothing against you, but 0000 is always new day like you said. Choosing 12/12 would be stating you were born 24 hours earlier. Then what’s the point of writing down times in birth certificates?

Kinda not the same, but my fiancé was in foster care and got his GED at 16. One of his temporary placements got him an ID so he can start college, which was honestly the best thing they could have done - BUT DPS messed up his birthday & put it as the expiration month & day, with his correct birth year. He couldn’t change it because he needed his official social security card, which he couldn’t get from his case worker until almost a year after turning 18. We were stopped for a tail light being out and the cop was so rude / suspicious of him because my fiancé told the cop right away that his birthday was wrong (honesty’s the best policy). It was so horrible. I know mistakes happen, but there needs to be some grace for the people the mistakes happen TO and not just who the mistakes happen from.

Social Security could have told him he needed to go to the Records Department to resolve it instead of cutting him off cold.
They simply don't care. Yes humans make mistakes, but only those who give a damn actually work to correct them. In the government however, the caring people are few and far between.
I had a friend that had similar situation, social security had her birthday year wrong. Glad the young man was able to finally get the problem solved.
How did your friend fix this issue? I have this same problem but they have me a month later than I was born.
When I was applying for my Canadian permanent residence they too "lost" my birth certificate. I legit think it was stolen. I filled a complaint and they said they would search for it and never found it. They had originally only asked for high quality copies but after paying an astronomical amount of money to send copies twice they kept complaining that it wasn't good enough some how. So we were instructed to send the real thing. I'm so mad at the Canadian government. And there's literally nothing I can do. There's no valid way to hold anyone accountable. For all I know they're using it for human trafficking or something Shady. Such bullshit.
That’s government for ya
I believe you. They missed up my name when immigranting I had to pay to get that fixed. The government has so many shady people I believe every word you said.
I needed to get my name changed after marriage and when I called the 1st time I was told I had to mail in my birth certificate and license. the only 2 things that basically proves who I am, you want me to mail and send through the SAINT LOUIS POSTAL SERVICE?!?!?!? those A Holes literally steal everything .. lol no thanks!!!!! It took me calling the SS office 4 times before someone told me I could get a Dr. Note stating my full name. DOB. And that I was a patient under their care. And didnt have to send my birth certificate, just marriage license and that dr. Note. . SS office needs to get their shit together!!!!!

It denied the correction and lost the certificate. Wtf
Only in America
Right!🤔🤔🤔
You know some ass*ole in one of those offices was like "f*ck it! I ain' see no certificate."🤔🤔🤔
Terrible.
He should be able to sue them for losing his birth certificate.
The second birthday was clearly a typo that someone made when entering his data into the computer. You'd think Social Security would acknowledge that. 😒
The people at my social security office is so lazy and unprofessional it irks me

Good Job guys the type of news I live hearing!!!
When I was in college, someone mistyped a single digit of my SSN. The school returned my financial aid saying I wasn’t enrolled there. Took a couple months to get that fixed. Still not as bad as this guy’s mixup.
This is ridiculous. Social security can’t tell anyone what day is their birthday. 🙄
Yes they can and they did silly
@Cian MacGana you do realize that you don’t have a social until you are born right? They have to have a birth certificate to issue you a social. The only documentation you can get before birth is insurance & taxes back. Instead of watching the video go read or have a child & experience this yourself.
@@JohnWickkkk what I’m saying is it isn’t legal. They know this as well that’s why the man was eager to fix the “glitch”. Someone made a mistake issuing his social.
@@bree8345 No, the Records Department entered his birthdate wrong in their system, but his birth certificate got printed with the correct date.
@@lql1094 if it was the records departments fault they wouldn’t have had to speak to social security. Records handles birth certificates not socials & his birthday on his birth certificate was correct. So wtf you talking about? 😂
*It took five years to get my only child "registered" for a social security number and mannnnnn my tax filings were a beast. When we finally went for passports .... Drumroll... Of course they held that up and said the child didn't exist at all.*

2. how does either of those situations even happen
@@crappyaccount *Thank you as I said and asked the same thing.* The hospital filing the proper documents late, the social we were given was a "Placeholder," but no one ever told us and apathy from derelict workers?!? 🤷🏿♀️ No one genuinely cared and behaved as if we were making things up or trying to defraud a system by lying about a whole human being born.
Wow smh 🤦♀️...we have idiots running the government

Omg they said my youngest didn't exist as well..... im like but these bills do🤔😏😔🤣
Only wanted to correct the error once the news got involved. Just do you damn job an fix the error.
That's what I'm saying, man ego can be a bitch, just suck your pride in and do your job.
Exactly! All of that and they had a birth certificate.
As annoying as it is that he had to through such a struggle, I'm super glad there was at least a way he could publicize the issue and get help fixing it.
They should pay him with interest. Poor guy, I can only imagine how frustrating that would have been! I’m glad to see there was a happy ending!
They didn't lose the certificate they tossed the certificate
I was born in the UK and had the same error but they fixed it when I entered school, my mom didn’t even have to make a request they literally said “pick the date you like” and she picked 12/12 I was born at midnight on that date so technically it’s 12/13 lol
I don’t know how they can let someone choose a date. Nothing against you, but 0000 is always new day like you said. Choosing 12/12 would be stating you were born 24 hours earlier. Then what’s the point of writing down times in birth certificates?
@@eggnogdelicious7719 Uh, what? There’s literally one minute between 12/12 at 11:59 PM and 12/13 at 12:00AM. That’s not a 24 hr difference.

When dealing with corrections like this, it’s always best to find a worker that knows their job well and preferably not at the lower level. They do not train them well and sometimes not at all 😒
And plz be kind when speaking to them. Trust me, they are dealing with H3LL at work (that’s a whole other mess 😩). They might sound cold but, you act kind and they will help you.
The lady that helped me sounded like she forgot what happiness was 😂 it took a while to fix but, she always returned my call and stuck it out with me until I had my correction in my hand ☺️

20 years working with the Government has taught me the pain of jumping through hoops on something that takes seconds to fix!
Why did they turn Joseph into a biblical character at the end? Lol 😆
I celebrate two birthdays also. Same reason. My mom also says she was there so she should know 😁 Glad he got this help to work it out. I just go with what my birth certificate says but my friends and family know that’s my second birthday.
All it took was one nurse or doctor to press one button the the side and they set this kid up for dealing with jumping through hoops right after he became an adult. That must've sucked for the man, but I'm glad he was able to resolve it.

My grandmother has 2 birthdays too her birthday may 16th but her birthday certificate says may 17th it’s weird and they gave her her twins name that passed away at birth it’s a mess
I know shes a good lady... Thats my bday also
Kinda not the same, but my fiancé was in foster care and got his GED at 16.
Been there was born on Feb 29, celebrate March 1st
I also have two birthdays and was in a 7 year battle with Immigration and the Social Security Office to reinstate my SSC. I had to, under legal supervision, change my b-day from Nov. 28 to Dec. 8. Having two birthdays is more common than people think.
What a beautiful family, I agree with !laila, what hypocrisy!!! Thanks to the guy who fixed it.

Took for a random white guy to come in save the day when the guy has the original documents the entire time

My Lithuanian grandma escaped the Soviets and went to Germany during WWII. They had labor stipulations there and she was pregnant so she lied on her German papers and made herself 2 years younger, so she had shorter work days. 60 years later and it was really hard to have her as a cosigner on student loans because of her different birthdays.
@I win You lose I qualified for the loan by myself, with like 18% interest. Using my parents as cosigners brought it down to 11%. Having her cosign made it 4.5% interest.
Finally. Someone in the news that actually does something.
I didn't get mine at all! I went back and forth with i.r.s. and the treasury. I am married and legally changed my last name when married. I'm waiting on my taxes now! It was hell, trying to tell someone I am me. No walk-ins so I didn't know what to do. I filed taxes and now my name shows up?! Smh! This man deserves his money just like everyone else. I pray he and his Mom can get it handled.
They messed me over too. Say I was born on 8/29 instead of the right date 8/20. I had to pay them to fix what whey did wrong. Then, they also had my name spelled wrong... I just left the name because it never caused issues for me since they usually just put my middle initial...
Social Security Office: "No, WE will TELL you when your child was born, Okay?!"
They IRS hasn't processed my mothers 2019 taxes yet, so because of that she did not recieve the last 2 stimulus's either. So because of this they would not accept her 2020 taxes and we had to mail them off. Its a real govt shitshow right now.
Thank you Harry!
