As a professional garbage truck driver, I've speculated in my mind a similar scenario very often. Actually, there's very little we can do, if something catches fire in cargo, especially lithium batteries. (They shouldn't be there, but...) If all else (self-help and FD response time) fails, I'll dump the load on an open field/parking lot with enough space around. I figure a fully loaded rear loader garbage truck would be very, very difficult to put out of fire, if it was burning with some intense.
Wouldn't the fire eventually starve or significantly slow down if you closed off the containment with the compactor? Assuming it's kind of tightly fit around the perimeter ...
I think the problem is that the fire was deep inside the truck, as we can see they pull some trash to see further inside the container, at which point they restart to spray inside the truck. The problem is that its also very likely that the truck was getting really hot and that pulling the trasg wothout proper equipment could have been dangerous. Another point is also that the crew of the trcuk might not have been sure about how bad the fire was, as they couldn't see far inside. I know this comment is 3years old but so on haha
Toffe video weer mannen!
English translations for the topic would be nice. Adding english subtitles (for relevant spoken stuff) could increase likes a lot too. Video and sound is good, adding those with some interesting intro with suitable music could do wonders if you want more subscribers.
The driver should be made to undergo extra training for the casual and dangerous way he is holding the steering wheel. Unbelievable that a professional emergency driver should do that! Must be stoned. He's only got to clip a kerb with a front wheel and he'd break a thumb. Or crash. I'm shocked.
Roy Hoeksema..... it's actually quite simple. Especially in The Netherlands! First, you take a cigarette paper and then add rolling tobacco. Then you sprinkle marijuana onto it. To enable the bit that goes between your eager lips to remain open and not stuck shut with spit, you can roll a small strip of cardboard up into a small cylindrical make-shift filter called a 'roach'. Stick that in. If you're really sensible you'll add a filter instead. Then you roll the thing up, lick the glue and seal it. Voila! If the naughty cigarette is uniformly cylindrical its called a joint; if it's conical it's called a spliff. Then you light the end and smoke it, nice and slowly. Big deep breaths. The active compound in the marijuana is called THC. When it acts on the brain, the owner of said brain tends to become stoned. Like I say, it's very simple really. Especially in The Netherlands!!!
JH19631.... Yes VERY popular, thank you. Also a very good driver with knowledge of how treble 9 drivers are taught in the UK, that's all. Not like this, I can tell you! A simple observation with no malice intended. And you? I'm guessing, aren't very popular?
I largely agree with YelpBullhorn. The driver is also allowing himself to be distracted by his colleagues, he shouldn't be turning his head away from a forward view when driving at speed through traffic. What mitigates his behaviour is the co-operative attitude of other road users (very noticeable in the Netherlands and Germany!).

calculus77 its pretty easily done if its in an open space. But its of course good to dump your load because then you dont waste your truck

Inderdaad..
