I was raised on weekend black & white horror flicks. They may seem "boring" by todays CGI standards but, I just love the nostalgia they bring. This one was pretty good. Dr. Lorenzo played by George Zucco made a wonderful antagonist. Worth the watch if you enjoy old B & W horror movies.

I don't think such old films should be classified as horror but scary films and this should be a separate genre. Those films were not shocking, disgusting, or atrociously violent like modern horror films that seem as if these are trying to be like ISIS videos. Such old films were sometimes a bit scary and often beautiful or creative.
I too was raised on the saturday afternoon horror movies. Like Bela Lugosi of Dracula. There was not one scene showing Dracula actually biting anyone. Right up to that point though. Oldies but goodies !!!!
Zucco is so incredibly underrated. I put him right up there with Price, Lee and Cushing. Never a bad performance, never mails it in, always nails his role, outstanding horror icon
Neat estimation, but I'm sure plenty of folk on UA-cam have also said that Price, Lee and Cushing are terribly underrated, even the "most underrated". Even Bob Dylan is an underrated songwriter, and Bowie is an underrated singer, and Buckingham is an underrated guitarist, on UA-cam. Sorry, just my beef whenever I see that term, because it seems like an insult, as well. But I get your point. Trust you get mine
"I grow old, I grow old. I shall wear my trousers rolled." (T.S. Eliot.) My friend, what's truly sad is those of us who are old enough to have seen these films when they were first released won't be around for much longer. When we're gone, our favorite actors and actresses will only be remembered by those who study film. I'm sorry, but "The Blair Witch Project" can't hold a candle to Tod Brownings "Dracula" or the classic "Nosferatu."
PRC created this little gem of a creature feature. Some people refer to such fare as Poverty Row but "Mad Monster" is rich in good storytelling and atmosphere. Best of all, it has George Zucco, a plus in any horror film. Thanks for the viewing.
Michael RedCrow Indeed. Hammer could take their small budgets and make a film that looks expensive. The studio made many entertaining films in that manner. Many of them starred Peter Cushing and/or Christopher Lee.
Michael RedCrow You are absolutely correct in summing up the qualities that make Hammer great. They also had their own unique style that is recognizable right from the opening credits. Hammer, gone but never forgotten.
I share the same sentiment with others. Grew up in the 60s watching these little B rated gems, usually on Friday or Saturday nights. Brings back great, nostalgic memories. Zucco was a favorite to watch. Tnx for uploading
Wow! This is absolutely the best quality print I've ever had the splendid luck to see of this film. It's amazing what a huge difference it makes not to have scratched celluloid or washed-out picture quality getting in the way of one's viewing pleasure. Very enjoyable. Thanks so much.
For whatever reason, the local stations in my area didn't air the old PRC and Republic horror flicks, though they did run the Universal and American International movies faithfully. For instance, I didn't have an opportunity to see the terrific "Strangler of the Swamp" with Rosemary LaPlanche until I rented a bedraggled transfer on vhs tape back in the nineties. Thanks for this !
Great atmosphere. The fact That you can,t make movies this way anymore makes them all the more precious. I prefer this over those empty heartless cgi flops Any day

I remember Saturday matinees when I was young. Cartoon, newsreel, travel log, and a serial. I can't be sure of the name, think it was The Black Claw. But I can't find it anywhere so... It was a spy serial and may have been silent. 1956ish
SHOCK Theatre Friday Nights 1030 pm on WPTA Channel 21 Fort Wayne, Indiana had these old horror movies when I was a kid. I loved them. I'm 72 now and I still love the old black and white horror movies
Man, the cage for the wolf is tiny. I'm reminded of the time I agreed to bring the housemates' cat over to the vet for a checkup and discovered they hadn't bought a new cat carrier since he was a kitten. He technically fit in the thing, but his fur was poking out the air holes once we got him in and he really couldn't move around at all. I thought the cat fanciers in the waiting room were going to kill me when I brought him in, and the vet gave me a note to bring the actual owners telling them not to use that carrier ever again. And like a dope I tried leaving him loose in the car while I was driving there and back, only for him to panic and try to jam himself under my brake pedal repeatedly. That was the last time I did that errand for them.
I really like these old horror movies. Used to watch them with my buddies on Saturday rainy fall afternoons just before Halloween. What a " howl" !!! Thanx. 😱👀v
In an age of cg, it's nice to see the movies that brought us this far.. if it wasn't for these classics, we would not be watching the movies of today!!!
It wouldn't surprise me if the great Anthony Hopkins took a few notes from the acting of the doctor in this film. I can see so many similarities in their acting methods.
Classic Saturday night sleepover B-movie on the late show. Gotta feel sorry for poor Pedro. Fun film-thanks for posting. Very glad I subscribed to your channel!
Yes, and no humans were harmed during the filming of this movie. Human rights activists were always monorating on the film sets at the movie studios during the 30's throughout the 70's. Animals during those decades didn't have any humanitarian rights in the movie industry.

This one is definitely worth watching the entire film. George Zucco is just a beast of a performer in horror and never got the credit he deserved I believe.
Even if the body of work in the horror field is small compared to the more well known actors like lugosi or price or lee, George Zooco ( and Lionel Atwill ) must be reremember and recognize also as all time great horror stars. Both are always worth watching.
I absolutely agree. I can't remember how many films I have seen with Zucco and Atwill where they just give the greatest performances and outshine the leads in the film.

Surprisingly good film for it's time, has cadence that many "B" flicks from this period seem to lack.

Glenn Strange played Sam the bartender in Gunsmoke for years.
This is one “ Wolf-man” movie I’ve never seen til now.
Great quality for this movie good old scary b/w I subscribed ty
Petro seems to be modeled on Lennie in Of Mice and Men.
Until he transforms into Roddy McDowall's character Cornelius in the Planet of the Apes!
good movie, I remember this as a kid, it was old back then
Scary B movies were great and black and white made them even better. To this day, I still prefer B&W TV
Poor Glenn Strange~ bet he liked life way better as "Sam the Bartender" on Gunsmoke!
Glenn also played Frankenstein in several movies.
This was a well produced production. I love mad men, especially if they are scientists.
That's a coyote in the cage, not a wolf. lol
Either way, the cage is MUCH too small ..
Point: very astute observation, thank you

Yup! Down to the costume.

This movie scared me to death when I was a kid! Now I think it's funny!
The not so super overlapping of the film is fantastic considering the year it was done.
GOOD TRAINING FOR GLENN STRANGE TO PLAY THE FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER.
Thx for the upload. 🤗
Pedro seems 2 clicks dumber than Lon Chaney,Jr in " Of Mice and Men" as Lenny.
Tell me about the rabbits, George Zucco!
Just the title gives me chills! Not just a monster, but a mad one to shoe! Yikes!

coyote, not a wolf

The monster was Glenn Strange. The bartender Sam in Gunsmoke !
Also played "The Monster" in 3 of the Universal Frankenstein movies after Karloff!

An army of wolfmen! Yeah, we'll take 500,000of them please. What a madman 🤣.
