Hindsight is always a good learning thought to reflex on how things could be better better, at least no one got seriously injured🙏 The strong emotion to fly after waiting many hours makes it a harder decision not to fly at the end of a trip. Thanks for sharing💯
I did that flight a couple of weeks ago. Opposite problem. It was howling on takeoff. There were only a couple of us launched after the guide (Martin) said it would be OK. I think the alpine guys are understandably a lot more nervous about wind on takeoff than us. Got a slight mauling on the way of the mountain but once out over the flatter ground it was lovely. Light thermals and light wind until the sun set. It can be a precarious sport at times paragliding.
A scary situation for sure. Hope the glider is ok mate? I have landed backwards on a few occasions and it wasn’t nice but didn’t have the added stress of lava rock. Keep the videos coming buddy….Rotorflex 👍
knowing the wind direction and strength, would it have made more sense to travel further up the beach (above the wind) and land with the boys at the resort beaches? The correct answer was probably not flying, but once you made the first decision to fly, and the second decision to travel down-wind seeing the other pilots were struggling, it looks like you boxed yourself into a b-grade landing, and the pilot behind you faced even worse conditions, right?
Was this by any chance today around 1ish in the south? I saw 3 paragliders comming over as I was on the road and wondered about the weather being a bit spicey!
I was actually using weight shift to help you back toward land. Phew. Glad you're ok
Cheers for your help dude 🤪🤙

Ain't that the truth. Too many bad choices. Luck was on my side
Glad you’re ok! I was barely breathing as you were trying to land! Again, whew!
Tense for sure 🤙
Scary stuff, glad you got down eventually unscathed. Hope the glider is okay too
All good thankfully 🤙
