My mother owns a 2009 Honda Fit Sport. It has been very reliable. The only problem we had is when the A/C ran out of refrigerant. The only recall this car has had was for the Takata airbags. Consumer Reports had called it a best value
My 2008 Honda Fit also had the A/C go out. $90 for a new A/C Condenser (had a hole in it) and $50 for a new A/C clutch for the compressor (electromagnet quit working) and a new can of refrigerant ($12) and I was back on the road.
The most recent car I saw roll down windows in was a 2010 Toyota Corolla base model, 5 speed. Easy to roll down too. Two turns and the window was all the way down. Not like those old ones where you had to roll and roll and roll to get the window down. They do have a few advantages. You can crack the window when the engine is off. If you drive into water (I don't intend to) the window will still roll down. The electric windows won't. They trap people in the car. The perfect setup would be roll down on the driver's side and electric on the passenger side. I doubt anyone will every make that though.
Just came back from California in my 2009 Highlander. I live in Portland. Needed nothing but gas and my windows wiped clean 😎. This thing takes my family everywhere in comfort and style.
That "truck" that you're testing out Scotty. That's basically what we here in South Africa know as the Toyota Hilux. And here you can get them with diesel engines that run forever 😁👍🏻👍🏻
My 2012 Honda Civic was made in Japan. Probably one of the very last USDM Civics made there. It just rolled 133,000 this very morning. I just bought a '97 Honda Prelude. It sits at 251,850 miles right now. It still starts up each and every time you turn the key, no fuss. You can still rev out the engine, but I'm not planning to do that kind of thing regularly. Not to a car that's nearly 30 years old.
I have owned my 2008 Hond Fit for 1 year now and that car does amazing in 4" of snow around town with snow tires on it! It's such a zippy car around town, but also loves sitting at 80 mph on long trips across the state. Make sure you get the automatic transmission, since they run at lower RPMs than the manual transmission.
I've got a Honda Jazz/Fit 2009 made in China. Fantastic car, 13 years without any problems. Last year I discovered, the airconditioner have a small leak after 13 years :) . The second problem is a rust. Couple points of rust on my car, it's not a big problem for now. I love his reability.
Definitely gotta agree with you on this. These are all excellent vehicles. Toyota and Honda are the best of the best. Mazda is really good too from my personal experience.
I bought my wife a 2013 Fit new. We call it a “go cart”, but like Scotty says it’s an awesome little car that’s actually fun to drive. And being a Honda it’s very dependable. 10 years later and not one problem. She will probably never buy another car or need to. Couldn’t be happier.
I screwed up and tail ended a Honda fit a decade ago. Just a gentle tap, my vehicle no damage, nobody was hurt but the fit fell to bits, was a write off. These tiny vehicles aren’t safe, at least size up and get a civic (which gets great fuel economy too).
I love my 2015 Fit EC--getting 40plus MPG drove it from Nashville to Liberal KS in 14 hours and filled up 4 times. Small tank but mileage that trip was 46mpg!
I have that same year, model and color. I've got 175,000 miles on it and so far the only thing that broke was the ac blower (knock on wood). I bought it new 13 years ago.
Honda perfected the ICE in terms of balancing reliability/durability/power/price regardless if its for a car, bike, boat, powertool. I'm speaking more from the motorcycle perspective but my next car will be a Honda. Also I respect how Soichiro Honda started off.
I admire some of the things that simply wouldn't exist if not for Honda. They really took things in different directions at times. I believe most Honda products might be collectable because of brittle plastic though. And all those pesky 😅 3 wheelers.
I have pretty much the exact same Honda Fit except 2011. It’s has been more reliable then other cars iv owned. My only problems are the a/c no longer blows cold air and the spark plug in one of the cylinders blew out of the socket 3 times and is now installed with a healicoil. Have put a few thousand miles on since and still working well. Last thing the sway bar links are currently loose due to terrible roads where I live. The car has 170,000 miles. Spark plug first blew out around 65,000 miles then around 165,000 then again like a hundred miles after or little less and now healicoiled. My average gas mileage in town is around 36mpg.
I love my 2017 Honda Fit. These cars are just fun to drive. I got a manual transmission and it is like driving sports car, but hauls enough junk to be a truck, The Gen 3 Fits has a better ride then the Gen 2 and still retains the handling. 2017 was the last year that they made them in Japan. I great choice but you can't go wrong with any generation Fit if it is in good shape.
I have an 01 Tacoma manual base model with 265k very hard pothole city miles on it. The thing has been neglected and beaten and it still runs perfectly. It has served me very well for 15 years. I wanted a new truck in 17 and went with the frontier since the Tacoma had grown in stature and price. Now I have 110 on the frontier. Zero issues. The Tacoma I test drove in 17 felt awful. So did the frontier but at least I got a good deal. I feel it was the right choice. I hope my next truck can be a compact Toyota.
My daughter whose at university has a Honda 2005 FIT that she inherited from her grandfather in that time i have only replaced 1 set of tyres and a battery and to be honest it has missed a few due date or mileage services but it still drives fine as the day her grandfather bought it new!
Nice job Scotty. Another video worth the time of all us nickle rubbers who treasure cars that will run a longtime and don't look or sound like a rust bucket. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you, Sir. I have a 2016 HFit. The only issue is there is a gasket leaking, meaning the motor has to be removed so change the gasket. It is a smooth ride. I am just getting tired of a low ride.
Ive got an 02 Toyota camry LE that ive been driving for about a year now, put an after market radio in it and put a new compressor and condenser in it. Runs like a champ and has an amazing sound system in it.
I would gladly drive my 1998 Sienna for you to review. Aside from the lids needing paint, still NO RUST and one interior arm rest, I have restored my old van to near perfection.170k It's my GUMP car. Now that I went this far, upgrade it again!. I just sealed the top gaskets. I would love to meet you. I love your sense of humor. You are hysterically honest. I can't stop laughing when I watch you in action. Long Island isn't far from Rhode Island, especially if I take the Orient Point Ferry across. 2.5hrs and I"ll be in your driveway.
2010 Infiniti g37 best reliable sports car. I have 260000km and only have done oil and fluid changes still have 330hp like when I bought it dyne tested still runs great
My first new car was a 2008 Honda Fit Sport, I should have never sold it. I could put two living room recliners in that with all the doors and windows closed and still room for front passenger and driver. With winter specific tires that car would just blow the doors off the other vehicles in the snow
I bought a new 2005 Camry. Now has 130,000 miles. Never did anything but change oil, tires, and battery. Had to replace my rear bumper because I and another driver backed into each other in a parking lot. Still runs very good. I offered to buy my wife a new car, but she refused. I hope to get another 130,000 miles on it. Has no rust and paint hasn't faded. I figure I save $12,000 every year I postpone buying a new car. I also have to consider that iit might be illegal to own a car in 10 years.
I didnt4 really like our soul untill i went to Tennessee. I was getting 32 in the mountains! It handled great and the only thing we did aside from normal maint. Was an electric power steering thing. Batteries every 3 years, oil changes once a year with Amsoil signature in it. Bought it in 13 and 4 months ago put her first set of replacement tires on it! J1 set of front brakes, she good to go!
I’ve got a 1998 Tacoma, been waiting for 5 years for Toyo to come out with something that’s a little better on gas. So I hope the Stout will be the truck I’ve been waiting for.
Was going to get a Honda fit but all had a lot of miles and got a Nissan versa instead with 73k miles for 7k and 5 speed manual and average 30mpg not bad drives good
Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, many Toyota's including Camry and Corolla had problems with their hubcaps falling off. Maybe it is was a design defect
Got myself my first Toyota back in 2021 and I really enjoy my car. My car is a 2017 Toyota Camry XLE 2.5L and when purchased had only 27,000 miles. I only drive 6,000 miles and usually under per year. I like the Honda car body styles but an equivalent to the Camry only comes with turbos on their engines.....I personally like naturally aspirated vehicles...less moving parts imo.
I got one of these same Models Honda Fit for my Daughter Its a 2108 bought it used only 18,000 miles I got it for $16,000 and she has put close to 50,000 miles on in 2 years but it's a wonderful little car, more room then you can imagine e I have hauled washes Dryers I put a full size fridge in it.. still looks brand new hopefully she gets a lot more milage out it.
My wife has an orange 09 hinda fit 5 spd sport exellent car ,she only sold It to get something bigger, she had well over 200k miles and ran like new. I maintain our cars well.
My 2014 Toyota Avalon Limited out does my wife's 2016 Honda Accord EX-L V6 in everything. The Avalon still performs like the day I purchased it new. My wife's Accord on the other hand, has had the AC compressor and condenser fail. A lot of the rubber molding/seals are deteriorating. The back up camera had to be replaced due to moisture getting in it. I was always a Honda guy until I purchased the Toyota. She wants a "luxury" car and has been looking at Lexus. Other than Lexus, what are viable options for a "luxury" car?
I just finished watching a video which showed why, according to current EPA CAFE standards, small trucks (i.e. the compact size of the 90s) are basically a thing of the past because they would need to have ridiculously high MPG ratings. SO if compact trucks do make a comeback, they'll either be hybrid or EV.
So sad forcing us to buy cars we don’t want and unattainable goals that are meaningless. SUV’s are exempt from CAFE and manufacturers make a huge profit. Need some pragmatic rule makers.
@@mztokyo7630 Exactly. In fact the same video clearly illustrated your point - how the MPG qualification was a curved scale, so the smaller the vehicle, the more stringent the requirement whereas larger vehicles like SUVs can qualify much more easily. It's ridiculous - if I want to buy a small vehicle, because the EPA demands it achieve a stupid high MPG rating, no car manufacturer is going to be bothered even making one, so I have to spend tens of thousands more on a large SUV (which I wouldn't need or even want) which achieves less MPG than the small vehicle could. Tell me, EPA - an agency that's supposed to be all about the environment - how is forcing me to buy a vehicle that is more damaging to the environment, better than allowing car manufacturers make small cars that will have less impact? This clearly shows it's not about the environment at all but about money and profit.
And the 2013 and older Fits are Made in Japan with a JH VIN without a CVT and with a dipstick on the automatic transmission had 1 I had a 09 Sport bought new 09/18/2008 drove that car for 13 ½ years and put 302,000 miles on the original engine and transmission kinda wishing I wouldn't have sold that car but I bought a 2017 Fit EX-L also with a JH VIN not like the others that had a 3H VIN but it has the CVT I really wish Honda wouldn't have done away with them after the 2020 model year
As a mechanic for about 40 yrs the American vehicles rust out the German cars all leak oil but Japanese companys have not much of those Problems also I know Volvo's leak oil tooo
@steveeddy6876 sounds like you got the experience! You’ve seen enough vehicles to know. I feel like the 80’s & 90’s Volvos can be bulletproof like a Toyota for sure, but the parts cost way more than a toyota. Speaking because I’m wondering what it would be like to own a late 80’s Volvo 240. I currently have a 2006 Matrix which I’m never selling i would just use the Volvo as a backup car probably. What’s your opinion on that. They have excellent safety, but other than that, is it pleasant to own one of those cars overtime?
One huge problem with Honda Fit. It has the highest fatality recorded among small vehicles for years. Maybe because Honda fit is the most popular (most used) or could be that it's safety features are not on par with other vehicles out there.
I do DoorDash my friend who also does it drives a fit I drive and accord she gets 33mpg I get 15 mpg we both drive like maniacs they get dang good gas mileage but they’re to small for me and I would take the gas mileage penalty to be comfortable in a bigger sedan and not have all the noise on the highway
Honda/Acura is the only brand I buy now. Had a couple of Lexus RX350’s- decent cars but overpriced, few dealers around and frankly not as good as Acura. Now we have a 2023 RDX and it’s a great car! Averaging nearly 20mpg in very short city conditions and almost 30 mpg on the highway. Have to use 89 octane gas but so be it. I’d have kept our CR-V but my wife needed a more comfortable ride.
However here in Sweden at least, don't know about the rest of Europe, the part are about twice as expensive the same kind of parts from Volkswagen say.
I upgraded to a bigger battery in my 2008 Honda Fit. I went to Napa and asked for a 2005 Ford Mustang 4.0L battery and it fits perfect in there. I did remove the plastic battery tray insert and the inlet tube that connects from the fender to the air cleaner box.
I never understood how they could sell Smart cars when for 10% more money you could have a Fit with a real 4cyl engine that burns regular, not premium. A real torque converter automatic vs a direct shift automated manual. A real rear seat and a real storage area.
Need Help! My 92 4Runner won’t go past 30mph at 4,000 rpm, Only got 3 ideas. MAF Sensor, Transmission malfunction (idk), or the low battery could be influencing the alternator? I need a new battery now
Found the guy financing 100k suv or truck because “muh family life” They will live for sure, and put you in the medicare nursing home because you have no savings 😂
Most Honda's are the most dangerous vehicles on the road, they are built so cheap and lightweight. Up here in Minnesota they rust out so quickly and become a road hazard!
I saw a 2013 fit sport selling for over 12k with 120k miles on it.😢 I love the fit. I really do. But with that kind of money, I went for a used 2013 CT200h with a luxury package . I still like to have a fit, but they are seriously marking these car up.

Wow shocking I'm sure you're still upset they stopped using carbonators decades ago, seatbelts, airbags, crumple zones, high deck brake light. SMH
I’ve got a 1998 Tacoma, been waiting for 5 years for Toyo to come out with something that’s a little better on gas. So I hope the Stout will be the truck I’ve been waiting for.
Was going to get a Honda fit but all had a lot of miles and got a Nissan versa instead with 73k miles for 7k and 5 speed manual and average 30mpg not bad drives good
You were wise to get the manual.

Love my Fit, gonna drive it till the doors fall off. I did put an Optima battery in it, but thats about it.
You can always duct tape the door.. 😅😅😅
My daughter has a 2010 fit, having electrical issues. Power went out in the ac and radio
So she's having a fit?? 😅😅
I wanted a small truck in the US. Couldn't find one. So, I got a 2010 VW Beetle and converted it into a pickup truck. Manual trans, of course.
Or you could have gotten a harbor freight trailer for $500 that has an 8 ft. bed.. 😂😂😂
@@Gangsta1168 I did put a custom made 2" trailer hitch on it :-)
@@Docinaplane a VW bug with a truck bed and towing a trailer.. You should bring it to Scotty.. 💯💯
@@Gangsta1168 He's welcome to visit anytime. I'm in North Centra; Florida.
The sport also has a real spoiler. The media center is optional which my mom's car doesn't have
Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, many Toyota's including Camry and Corolla had problems with their hubcaps falling off.
I have the 15 SE
I got one of these same Models Honda Fit for my Daughter Its a 2108 bought it used only 18,000 miles I got it for $16,000 and she has put close to 50,000 miles on in 2 years but it's a wonderful little car, more room then you can imagine e I have hauled washes Dryers I put a full size fridge in it.. still looks brand new hopefully she gets a lot more milage out it.
My wife has an orange 09 hinda fit 5 spd sport exellent car ,she only sold It to get something bigger, she had well over 200k miles and ran like new. I maintain our cars well.
My son’s girlfriend has a Honda Jazz (Fit) here in Australia. Great little vehicle!!
bruh, you just passed up that stop sign without stopping
Actually Scotty looked for a sheep dog and didn't see one.. 😂😂
Now do pickups. My f150 has over 250k on it and running strong!
Yup mine was 150k then blown busted
My 2014 Toyota Avalon Limited out does my wife's 2016 Honda Accord EX-L V6 in everything. The Avalon still performs like the day I purchased it new. My wife's Accord on the other hand, has had the AC compressor and condenser fail. A lot of the rubber molding/seals are deteriorating. The back up camera had to be replaced due to moisture getting in it. I was always a Honda guy until I purchased the Toyota. She wants a "luxury" car and has been looking at Lexus. Other than Lexus, what are viable options for a "luxury" car?
Where did he get a 2010 fit with less than 120k for under 3k....ugh, I've been looking for a solid deal for a couple months.
I’m surprised Scotty can talk while driving with his hands on the wheel.
Nice plate on the '04 Camry.
Mazda is good too? I like to think that Toyota, Honda and Mazda are the three ultimate car brands
Freekin love this guy
They used to get 30 mpg back in the 80's. Little Datsuns and vw trucks.
Blame the safety crap. Nothing under 2200 lbs even exists....
Just buy the lightest vehicle on the market.
Where are they buying Honda fits for 3k the used car market is crazy high right now.
I had a 1990 Honda. 350k miles and I crushed it because it rusted so bad NJ winter salt roads. Wish I could find another.
For me pick up and van suv with a gasoline engine it's unusual. It's very rare in my country.
We love you Scotty!
You are our man!
And the 2013 and older Fits are Made in Japan with a JH VIN without a CVT and with a dipstick on the automatic transmission had 1 I had a 09 Sport bought new 09/18/2008 drove that car for 13 ½ years and put 302,000 miles on the original engine and transmission kinda wishing I wouldn't have sold that car but I bought a 2017 Fit EX-L also with a JH VIN not like the others that had a 3H VIN but it has the CVT I really wish Honda wouldn't have done away with them after the 2020 model year
My Honda CR-Z has that same 1.5 liter engine it's one of the best
Scotty I love the Honda u left the keys in ignition BEEP! My 94 HONDA Accord has the exact same BEEP Ha Ha 😆
I have my Honda Jazz 1.2 l(i-Idsi motor) since 2004 and i dont want other for now
Some people selling fits for more than they bought them for. Hell has a spl place for them.
Have. 2020 mdx. Honda ftw
However here in Sweden at least, don't know about the rest of Europe, the part are about twice as expensive the same kind of parts from Volkswagen say.
My girlfriend has a honda fit. amazing little car. not the best riding car but it's reliable and cheap.
2:47 That med student science project in the back was funny, like the Deniro movie where he notes enough room for a body back there.
Mini Mafia Trunk!!!🤣😂😆
I have a 2008 Honda fit sport replacing that little battery isn't cheap. Lol
@@MyLifeThai371 I'll probably be going that route for the next battery lol.
After watching forensic shows I am pretty sure there was a body under that blue tarp in the Honda.
Good to see there's enough space in the Fit's hatchback area to transport a decent size dead body.
I never understood how they could sell Smart cars when for 10% more money you could have a Fit with a real 4cyl engine that burns regular, not premium. A real torque converter automatic vs a direct shift automated manual. A real rear seat and a real storage area.
Don't you like to look smart?? 😅😅
Need Help! My 92 4Runner won’t go past 30mph at 4,000 rpm,
Only got 3 ideas. MAF Sensor, Transmission malfunction (idk), or the low battery could be influencing the alternator?
I need a new battery now
Too much coffee, my friend. Meditate and slow down. Info is spot on tho.
Makes me feel good about my 05 Camry with 222k miles on it
I have an 08 fit sport and you can actually put a 51R battery from Walmart. At least it fitted in mine. You just have to take the battery cover off.
07 Honda Fit sport, I did the same. Wayyyy better.
I'd rather have steel rims over alloy wheels
Scotty, tell Honda to bring back the FIT in the US
Those fits rust bad on the rear fenders a rockers
Even though they r pretty good cars over all
In previous videos you have warned us of the Toyota 2.4L oiling issues but now they're great?
So you didn't get dizzy watching Scotty?? 😂😂
They call jazz in Australia very reliable
The downside of the Honda Fit is safety. Life is priceless.
Omg.....it's no more unsafe than a corolla

They will live for sure, and put you in the medicare nursing home because you have no savings 😂

Unfortunately, Honda has chosen to discontinue the Fit in the United States
Most Honda's are the most dangerous vehicles on the road, they are built so cheap and lightweight. Up here in Minnesota they rust out so quickly and become a road hazard!
I saw a 2013 fit sport selling for over 12k with 120k miles on it.😢
I love the fit. I really do. But with that kind of money, I went for a used 2013 CT200h with a luxury package . I still like to have a fit, but they are seriously marking these car up.
I just saw one with 90,000 miles at a car lot for 9,800$
Mazda 3 is a damn fine car to scotty...made in Japan too
I got the Mazda 3 hatchback with the 2.5, decided on less practicality for better looks and more power (over the Fit)
You won't be disappointed. I have the old 2.0 in my 2006 Mazda 3 and it still purrs like new.
Notice DRL is blinking on the dash. Is that Daytime Running Light
I think he said it was a tire pressure warning
My 92 4Runner is kinda rusting at the bottom side steps. I stepped on it and broke it lol
The 2nd owner would take it to the water for off roading
@ashybone5 most 30+ year old vehicles have some type of rust, it really depends how bad it is.
Scotty! What’s your thoughts on using semi synthetic oil on my 2011 Toyota SE Camry???
120,000miles going strong
would you buy a Fit or a Yaris? All things equal.
I swear I have seen him talk about that exact bench seat and crank window in like 3 separate videos, now.
