The City of Brass is sooooo gooooooodddd !!! Still waiting on my library system to get the cruel prince :( so in the meantime, currently reading ve schwab’s vicious
Honestly I wasn't sure about The City of Brass so I didn't pick that as my BOTM, but after hearing your fantastic review and also others I feel like I'm going to LOVE it and will HAVE to pick it up soon.
I've read 9 books this month. 6 of those were graphic novels. I think I did really well this month since usually I'm a slow reader and it takes me awhile to finish a book.
Your review of City of Brass is only the second review I’ve seen and Both reviews have been absolutely raving about how good it is which makes me very excited to get my hands on it because I’ve been very intrigued by it!
watching you describe these books with passion has really inspired me to articulate my words and expressions in a new way when i present in front of an audience! you're bright, knowledgable and excitable, you've been my fave youtuber for such a long time now, you give me the enthusiasm to read new books, thought you should know! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Ahhh the Poison Study books sound great, they sound perfect for when I’m in the mood for something YA, magical fun. The City of Brass also sounds FANTASTIC, I am definitely wanting to read more own voices books this year, and this book sound so rich in its insight. The setting sounds amaaazing
Aaah I've been wanting to read the Study series for so long now. I have Poison Study on my Kindle and it's been on there for like... 2 years now 😂 The City of Brass is definitely on my tbr! I keep hearing so many amazing things about it!
The best book I finished this month was Beneath the Sugar Sky but I’m currently reading Iron Gold and OH MY GOD is it amazing. These books just never ever disappoint.
hey, I'd love for you to do some spoiler reviews / book talks on previous books / favorites that you've read so we can talk about the plot and characters (basically when I finish a book I'd love to listen to you chat about the book)
This month I read 6 books! I’m so proud of myself! My favorites are Warcross, The Cruel Prince, Clockwork Angel, All the Bright Places, and City of Glass. I only had one meh read this month which was Symptoms of Being Human but overall, a great reading month!
Every time I hear someone discuss The Cruel Prince I get more intrigued. I've never read anything related to fae, so I have no idea if I'd even like it, but I want to give it a try.
Ahhh I desperately need to read the poison study books! Also dang, all the books you read are on my TBR! You're switching up my plans for february hahah
great reads! i read 7 books in january!! the raven boys, eleanor oliphant is completely fine, the handmaids tale, simon vs the homosapiens agenda, highly illogical behavior and 2 novels of an spanish autor called "la sangre de los libros" and a mexican novel "el murmullo de las abejas", overall an amazing reading month for me!
City of brass was my all time favorite read of 2017. I can't wait for kingdom of copper (I think that's what the sequel is called) I really want to get a few more character perspectives in the next one. Great wrap up
Yaayy for Marhilda, one of my three Guinea Pigs is called Mathilda too, Tildi rocks 💜💪 January was a great reading month, books and audiobooks combined I ended up with 9 books read and most of them were really great. 3 of them were the Girl of Fire and Thorns triology, I was a bit dissappointed by the first book and only continued due to your recommendations, in the end I liked book 2 and 3 much more, so thanks for raving about these books :)
I read 11 books this month, and like, four, almost five of them are Brandon Sanderson books. I finished Words of Radiance, then I read Elantris, Oathbringer and re-read the first Mistborn- book and made progress through the second one. So, hehe, I´m pretty proud of myself
froncifresh I started with Mistborn but I think you can start with whichever series you want. But read something before The way of kings, so that you get a feeling for his writing. Elantris could be a good place to start I think. It's not the best he's written, but it's not a bad book. Hope you enjoy whichever book you start with!
I really enjoyed MIRROR MIRROR By: Cara Delevingne and THE PRINCESS SAVES HERSELF IN THIS ONE By: Amanda Lovelace. Both brought me to tears for beautiful and amazing reasons! I love them!!! I also loved the graphic novel THE WITCH BOY by: Molly Knox Ostertag!
I finally read A Darker Shade Of Magic this month ! I kind of forgot about it but you raved about it pretty recently and it reminded me to pick it up... Just wish I would've read it sooner ! It was also my first V.E Shwab book and I'm having a "where have you been all my life" moment haha, I need the next two books like now. Actually I'm probably going to read all of her books soon !
Regan, you also have to read the Kingfountain series by Jeff Wheeler!!! The first book is called The Queen‘s Poisoner. It‘s about this boy Owen whose father attempts to depose the much feared king. Following this traitorous act, the father has to hand over his youngest son (Owen) as the king‘s hostage and prove his loyalty - or Owen will die. Owen has to find a way to prove his own worth to the king after the king‘s trust to Owen‘s father falters once again. With the help and support of a mysterious ally and a dear friend, Owen tries to earn the king’s trust. Over the course of this book and the whole series in general, you get to experience numerous adventures, heartbreaks, betrayals and joyful moments with the best characters EVER. I really want you to read this series so badly. It has several fantastic elements to it and it is very political, I‘m sure you will love it. I‘d looooove to see you love this series, too ❤️
I sort of feel like it’s a spoiler if you tell us that a book ends on a cliffhanger. Like, I don’t want to know that, really. What do you think, Reagen?
....am I the only one who thought The Cruel Prince was over-rated and just not that great 🤨?? It had such potential, but just didn’t deliver for me. There’s no character depth, and I didn’t end up caring about any of them really. Everyone likes Vivi because she’s the only one with any sort of relatable qualities and flaws, and her character was the only one whose actions were plausible, or in line for how their core beliefs were set up, AND she had a very small role and screen time in the entire story. *{spoiler}* Also, I truly can’t wrap my head around the whole Taryn/Locke situation as to where it was absolutely necessary to ‘prove’ she could be like them in the ways carried out, like that it could only be achieved through deceiving and humiliating her sister?? I just don’t buy that Taryn didn’t see this was another one of their sick games, THAT GETS PLAYED ON THEM CONSTANTLY, since love normally doesn’t include forcing you to take part in torturing close family members. Honesty though, I had trouble believing the actions of mostly all the characters, and the plausibility of most of the situations that occurred. The magic system wasn’t defined very well and neither was the world building in general. I also had a really hard time with the flying sea horses and riding large toads like horses- or that a human sized faerie with “thin moth wings” could actually fly.....it just seems like perhaps more childish writing. Well sorry I dumped this here, but the book just really annoyed the crap out of me for how much everyone else loves it.
Does anyone know of any fantasy books that doesn’t have romances within. Or any books that will blow your mind? I’m in a slump and really want a good action/fantasy book with politics and a great ending. IS THIS TO MUCH TO ASK 😞🙄
L _P The Kingfountain series by Jeff Wheeler!! The first book is called „The Queen‘s Poisoner“. One of my favourite series ever - and it definitely fulfills all your wishes. Lots of politics, fantastic elements, amazing storyline and characters. Of course there is some kind of romance in it, but it honestly is very incidental. ( I say this as a person who cares little about romance and a whole lot more about the actual story. :) If you read it, let me know what you thought! I know you‘ll love it. 😁
Seyma Ünal I’ve not heard of the king fountain series I’ll have to add it to my tbr, I read the synopsis and it sounds interesting. Thank you for the suggestion,
Alicia Richards Thank you!!!! I'M NOT ALONE 😂 I skimmed the last 70 pages and I normally never do that. I'm sad because it was one of my most anticipated releases for this year.... well. I'm sure there are better books to come this year :)
Am I the only one that smiled and cried "It's Matilda!" happily when Matilda walked by in the background? I can't possibly be.
I yelled "Matilda" with my dog voice

Sofia Bergström which book/series would be a good one to start from? I heard so much about sanderson and i'd like to read something of his!
froncifresh I started with Mistborn but I think you can start with whichever series you want. But read something before The way of kings, so that you get a feeling for his writing. Elantris could be a good place to start I think. It's not the best he's written, but it's not a bad book. Hope you enjoy whichever book you start with!
