Kinda sorta. Theater lighting techs would tell you that Gobo is short for "Goes Before Optics" and refers to the positioning of the disc between the light source and the lens, or optical system, as opposed to placing it after the lens, which would result in a blurrier image. Even so, another great video, Brian. See you at MBLV21.
Great explanation Brian. There are more projector options out there than ever before, so it's easy to get confused. On a side note, something I discovered the other day, that the new #IKonIR (80W LED) is more powerful than the older identical brother #IkonLED (60W LED).
I’m late in commenting here, but I have the ADJ Focus Spot 3Z. Can I make custom GOBOs using clear film? I’ve seen videos where people made them for the ADJ Ikon Profile, as well as for the ADJ Ikon IR. My question is, will the LED lamp on the Focus Spot melt them, or are the only GOBOs they accept metal or glass based?
Brian i have a question regarding chauvet par quad 4 freedom. Im using the flare con is there a way to make them switch colors on their own like set it up so i don't have to do it manually
I haven't heard about any positive results with that. People do it, but every time I ask anyone in-the-know about it, they say there are ink bleeding problems that aren't real visible on the print, but very visible on the projected image. Someone else may chime in & tell you different, but that's the feedback I've gotten
Finally, after ages of trying to find out what GOBO means, you actually solve the riddle, bless you my son :D

Any thoughts on printing your known gobo's via transparencies?

I'm seeing articles that say just use an old projector on eBay that can be had for under $100. Your thoughts?
DJ Barr uses an Epson projector I think...
thanks for the info B man. really helpful.
What is your opinion about the End of Vossis UA-cam Channel?
Are you familiar with the pricing of the gobos?
Don't want to sign up if I end up not liking the prices.
$320 and up for the ones listed here, there's got to be a more economical way to display a gobo.
You should get one that says Rcf
I haven't used RCF in probably about 2 years
