- Welcome Automotive Fanatics and Tesla fans to my channel, The Automotive Fanatic. In my review and DIY today, I have the PERFECT display for Tesla owners seeking a front mounted dash display. There are several different ones on the market so which one should you chose? Hands down, the Hansshow Ultra Mini Screen Display.

Just a heads up (no pun intended). I have a MY21 Model 3 with Intel chip, but the wiring and connectors (blue clips etc) for the then upcoming AMD chip were also wired into the car. If you have one of these cars, the display works perfectly well when connected to the AMD connectors even though you have the Intel chip. It certainly makes the install much easier!

This is a great display.
I assume that's the Performance Model Y with the 2170 battery pack. That said, the wiring looks very similar to the Model Y with the 4680 structural battery pack. Word is that display is also compatible with the 4680 MY AWD.
Yes, my MYP is a Fremont built Y. I have though, installed this unit on several newer Austin plant Ys and they all have similar connections and installed without issue.

The best screen design I have seen, should be standard on the car (along with rear heated seat buttons).
I agree, simply, provides just the right amount of info.

Hello Richard and Singapore. I can't say if the installation for a RHD car is the same.

Regarding the CF dash, it's a cheap cover that I purchased from Amazon. I would HIGHLY discourage it and recommend that you reach out to TPARTS.US as they sell some outstanding CF bits.

You cannot replace it.

Great vid! BTW, do you know what CAN means in settings? Has values between 1 and 10. Also on my recent install the time is backwards. Of all the gmt options none work. The minutes are correct but hour is wrong and none of them fit for my time. Would be grateful for any insight!!
CAN pertains to the Autopilot and the following number of cars. Leave it at 1.
As far as the GMT setting, you're correct. It's completely backwards but DOES work. You have to play around with the different GMT times to determine what works. This took me about 5 mins to get correct.
Does the display sit short? I'm short and from your steering Point of View, I can just see the speedometer. Can we get a picture from the driver side without leaning over?
Hoang, yes, the screen is short. My suggestion to you, tilt the Tesla steering wheel down. If you're short, I doubt you're going to angle the steering wheel up. Does this make sense?

Does the installation of this display affects the warranty on the car?
Juraj, from what I have read and seen within the Tesla community, ANY aftermarket product you install on your Tesla, CAN void your warranty. However, it can only void the specific part that you're installing. For example...if you install this screen, it might void your "horn" because the screen is on the steering wheel. However, it cannot, and will not void your car's battery warranty, suspension, main screen, etc.

Short answer, No, it's not going to void your entire Tesla warranty.

Does it "break" every time Tesla does an update?
That's a great question Ryamole. Since installing the screen, Tesla has not sent any OTA updates. I cannot confirm if anything changes after an update.

so no need to disconnect battery ?
Not at all. Just "shut down" the power from the screen before connecting the Mini Screen.
I just installed the mini screen 4.6 in in my Model 3 2022. The installation went well. The monitor displays for the head light is not reflect the computer display monitor. The headlight symbol on the mini display shows the headlight icon (blue) no matter the head light turn on or off (should disappear or gray out), there is no headlight icon for the high beam. Does this show on your screen also? Anyone has the same problem? . The fog light is good : appear when it's on and disappears when it's off.
Vinh, may I suggest a firmware upgrade? This may resolve some of the issues.

Steps to install firmware update

Step 1: Download *.rar file from google drive
Step 2: Unzip *.rar file. If your computer is unable to open, you can do it online.
Step 3: Format usb drive 'Fat32' [drive must be usb-c or usc-a using a usb-a to usb-c adapter and must only have 1 partition]
Step 4: Copy files to usb drive [can_app.bin from from Tsl_203 folder & app.upd from tesla screen app_V1.0.221104A folder]
Step 5: Insert usb drive into usb port on right side of hansshow display
Step 6: Power off car [Safety --- Power-off]
Step 7: Press brake pedal and allow firmware install. ** Don't remove until complete [If firmware install doesn't happen, review previous instructions were followed correctly]
Step 8: Once Hansshow screen is back up and running, your setting may have reverted to default settings. I had to change language back to English [it's the 2nd setting on the right column] and reset timezone.
Step 9: Remove usb drive
How do you change to 12hr format for clock?
Great question Chris. Unfortunately, this firmware version does not have the 12hr format. I have reached out to Hansshow to discuss an updated firmware for this. Stay tuned!

I also have an issue with the headlight indicators not properly working (they always indicate headlights are on when they are not - I understand I need a firmware update for 2022.28.2 which is the software version currently on my M3P). Hopefully you will hear back from Hansshow soon. Love your channel - keep the good content coming!!
@@chrisc1866 thank you for the support. Hopefully Hansshow hears us and will put together a new firmware upgrade. If you can deal with the 24hr format for the time being, it's a really nice addition.
Hi, Hannshow send me a bunch of files regarding upgrading the mini display to be compatible with 2022.28.2 but I cannot make heads or tails of it. Please post video of this process when you upgrade yours. Thanks!

Is there any way to change the time to a 12 hour?
Justin, there is a way. Hansshow reached out to me with a firmware upgrade. I will test it and post up my results.

Really? It works fine with my sunglasses that are polarized.
