Kerala, India - Another special food day in Kerala, India! Ebbin ( / @foodntravel ) invited us to his family friend’s home. We also met up with OMKV Fishing (ua-cam.com/channels/-Aq.html.... We started the meal by making a local Kerala style of biryani - and not with rice. This is the first time I’ve ever had biryani with something other than rice, cassava. The cassava was cooked separately at first, then combined with beef ribs, and a host of Kerala spices, and made into a mash of cassava, meat, and spices. It was incredibly delicious. #IndianFood #Kerala #India
Additionally, the amazing Aunties and Grandma cooked a stunning Kerala fish curry from the fish that we bought at the market. The expertise of the cooking, and the amount of spices used in the cooking, always excites me.
For lunch, we enjoyed a couple of local stews, followed by the incredible cassava biryani and fish curry. What a lunch, with an incredible group of people, family, and friends.

Since 3 days my Breakfast is Kappa boiled with fish and prawns fry, jackfruit i use as staple food during the season. Rice we eat also different from most, we eat Red rice most times.

Yes casava or tapioca as it is commonly known in India was actually introduced to Kerala by Portuguese from Brazil during colonial times. I know Casava is a native plant from Brazil. In malayalam language of Kerala we call it Kappa. Kappa is now a traditional national food of Kerala. The best combination with Kappa is hot Kerala fish curry. I love sardine curry with Kappa. The other different combination with Kappa are all the different types of fish curries, fried fish, dry salted fish, chilli chutnies, different types of beef like beef curry, beef fry, beef roast and beef ribs Kappa biriyani. It is damn yummy man. Now actually we do have various seasons for planting Kappa. Kappa planted in between March and April is actually so delicious. The difficulty during the cultivation of Kappa is how to protect it from wild boars. These animals are a real pain in the A@#$.
