His first year in college was not good, so he needed at least 1 more year in College. Earn a starting spot and win some awards at that level. Its a real environment for playing competitive games. In the G League the talent is higher but the basketball is not great because the teams are focused on giving max reps to their 2 ways and draft picks and prioritize that over winning. Its not about merit its about who the team is invested in. With his style of play, he isn't gonna look better in that kind of environment.
