That is so true! Some have insecurity that skews how they interpret others. More often than not, they misinterpret people’s words and body language. Thus conflict arises. Work on yourself first

When things were at their very worst:
2 Suns, Cross in the sky, 2 comets will collide = don`t be afraid - repent, accept Lord`s Hand of Mercy.
Scientists will say it was a global illusion.
Beaware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again.
After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the east = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time.
      Don`t trust „pope“ Francis
      - will seem to rise from the dead
      - will unite all Christian Churches and all Religions as one.
One World Religion = the seat of the Antichrist.
Benedict XVI is the last true pope - will be accused of a crime of which he is totally innocent.

Some people are sociopathic or narcissistic. It's a question of degree. I'm not interested in making myself a vessel for such people. My point is that all wisdom is conditional and contextual, it's avidya (incomplete knowledge).
That said we need to be more considered and less reactive.

I grew up in NYC & always loved speaking with people on public transportation, waiting for a light to change so that we'd be able to cross the street or waiting in lines at movies, banks or Post offices. I always found people willing to exchange ideas or share their knowledge on something. I road the the bus that took numerous people of different ethnicities to the United Nations, & I always had questions about other countries.
All I spoke with were to me, 'human' first.

Mr. Shetty does an exceptional job here. He is unusually thoughtful, cogent in both his questions and his comments, and sincerely appreciative of his guest's arguments. He both understands and furthers Mr. Gladwell's insights. I wish more of Mr. Shetty's work was in this vein, rather than the intense self-promotion which seems to color so much of what he currently does. Mr. Gladwell too, rather than than just repeating past stories as he so often does, evidences a new and deeper understanding of some of the themes of his most recent book. Congratulations to both.

External influences are multiple, and they can impact our minds into a certain direction, to copy or imitate. Most of us have weak minds, our thoughts and emotions subject to influences, and we become SECOND HAND HUMAN BEINGS. For me, what is essential to life is how to maintain a calm state of mind.

Funny story. I looked out the window one day because I heard a car pull into the driveway. The sun was in my eyes and I wasn't wearing my eye glasses. It was my cousin. He thought I gave him a mean look. He drove off. I would say hello to him and his parents (my Aunt and Uncle) and they would ignore me. Time and time again this would happen. I was confused. After a few months, I heard about what happen through another family member. That was 20 years ago, we still don't see or talk to each other.

    • @seekeroftruth5854

Time to reconcile with them, don't you think?

    • @deborahcurtis1385
      @deborahcurtis1385 Рік тому

@@seekeroftruth5854 Is m addams responsible for other people's perceptions, though? Surely 20 years is a ridiculous amount of time for that cousin and his family to be so outraged and assume they are right. How can you undo that? I think it behoves everyone to suspend judgement long enough to seek an explanation and always give someone the benefit of the doubt. The way this cousin behaves and his family behaves is just the stuff of wars. He was bewildered. Yet he didn't realise how he was coming across in the blinding sunlight.
There's a lot of misunderstanding in my family and I find when I try to do someone's work for them and unpack a situation, you won't be thanked for it. Far from it, I encounter hostility and suspicion. In other words you cannot force anyone to change. They will do so when they're open to it and not when you or I decide 'it's time to reconcile'. If you think it's so easy, you haven't been really observant have you?
I met a writer in New Zealand in a social situation and towards the end he observed to me that I was 'very self-aware'.
It took me by surprise. I didn't realise he meant it as a compliment but I think he meant that I give people space. You can try to be aware, you can work on yourself but you can't have expectations about how anyone is going to behave nor force a result. It's just now how things work.

This is among the very best of many interviews I’ve seen in years.
I can understand, Malcolm, why you went neither to Europe nor to the Caribbean. Perhaps because I share some aspects of your personal and geopolitical history. I became bicultural at an early age, at a time when it felt like being an ET because globalization was not the new norm yet - and I still am, because my migration was and still is abnormal, being from global center to periphery. I feel much like someone who exchanged hats permanently, to the poorer side. So that’s a big difference. But to me it feels obvious - maybe I’m wrong of course - that you needed to make sure you stayed in a place codified as the one where you entered in transition. I’m dying to read your literary work!

I think it would be best if all of us sees all of the evidence….ALL of it…before commenting on whether a police officer was ‘wrong’ in a particular situation. Our ( what used to be actual News but is now only opinion ) media only showed a portion of the video of Floyd, not by any means the entire video, over & over. The video never showed the angry mob of bystanders heckling the cops, yelling profanities…so angry that the cops had no idea if those people would shoot the cops themselves, nor did it show Floyd yelling he couldn’t breathe while he was inside the patrol car when no one was touching him. This like many other situations involving cops is very complex and only made much worse by media and politicians that are corrupt and a country of people who are all suffering financially and want someone to blame.

So when I hear things like you should be able to do whatever you want, This comes from somebody who is more than average in intelligence and education. When you talk to somebody who grow up very poore very UN educated and very downtrodden, They don't have the same opportunities and Positive outlook on their future. I being one of them was always believed you take whatever you can get, And try to make the best of it. You don't feel like you have options, Get the 1st construction job hopefully Union construction And live day today. I listen to people on video who are on the upside of success, And if you look at predominantly they are above average education, They either don't know or forget what it's like to be extremely poore and pessimistic. Sometimes that's where these Podcast and successful people lose people like myself.
