Great video! Thank you for taking the time to post. I am rebuilding my board utilizing the Gig Rig G3. I have The "Big 3" pedals also. This video is a big help.
Dude thank you very much I am right in the middle of programming I got a new G3 and H90 a timeline and this really helps me out between you and Dan I got it covered now
Glad to hear man! It’s a deeeeeeep crazy midi world but I’m glad this helped! Make sure to join the Facebook group for the GigRig! Dan is in there with a bunch of other owners who troubleshoot problems or routing things all the time! Thanks for watching and commenting!
will soon build a fully equipped G3S Board. did a similar thing back with my Boss ES-8 but your workflow seems a tad more organized, will implement some of it! great video!
Hey man! I;m glad the layout has helped and good luck on the board build! Just wanted to share what i've implemented lately and its made a HUGEEEE difference in the flexibility and number of patches. Here is a video of Andy Woods (ispiration from Andy Timmons) on using an expression pedal for the delays! ua-cam.com/video/jcfi9zP0Phw/v-deo.html It means you can keep your delay always on and on the same patch so you can have it available anytime you want by rolling your foot forward on the expression pedal. This will save you a ton of patches especially on your new ATOM coming in! I've been using it for the past month like this and its INCREDIBLE. Let me know how your board build goes and send me a picture once its done!!!
Great video, thank you! Wondering if you can help me... I'm using my pedalboard as an FX outboard, sending audio signals from Ableton. I have a combination of MIDI and non-MIDI pedals on the board. I see here you can set MIDI pedals to turn on/off using PC changes from the G3, but could I send PC changes from Ableton to the G3 to turn banks on/off? i.e. can I connect non-MIDI pedals to the G3 but then engage/disengage them by sending PC changes from Ableton to the G3? Hope this makes sense! I can't find any info on this in the manual/online so hoping for some advice from a user
I’m sure you can! At the very least you can send those midi PC and CC changes starting at Ableton THRU to the GigRig or individual midi pedals. Let me do some research and find out if you can control specific banks/patches with an outside midi source!
Hi Ricky Hope your well, just come across your video regarding the GIGRIG and the 3 Strymon pedals which i have the same setup, I seen on the Mobius you set the patch bank A Chanel to 00 on the GIGRIG and A1 on the B switch to 2 on the GIGRIG, my question is Patch B as a 00 patch how do you get over that one ?, or have i got it wrong ?, i have a print out of the strymon patches, Bank 1 00A, bank 00B confusing. Great Video this Midi stuff is confusing though lol.
Hey man! I hope my video helped a bit! It’s weird why they did that and didn’t just start the programming at bank 1 😭 instead they chose to start at 00 for the first bank, but I hope that makes sense! Here’s a small guide if it’s still confusing. The first bank (00) is PC+ 0 (A footswitch) and 1 (B footswitch) The second bank (01) is PC+ 2 and 3 The third bank (02) is PC+ 4 and 5 Etc… 4th (03) is pc+ 6 and 7 5th (04) is pc+ 8 and 9 …big skip… 10th (09) is PC+ 20 and 21 …big skip… 20th (19) is PC+ 38 and 39 Let me know if you get stuck!
Great explanations on the MIDI. not so many clear global midi videos other than yours. The tap Flash stomp stuff I never understood befor this. Do you know if it can be used for seting up the midi clock via tap? Or is midi always a "read only" setting?
So this video shows how to set global tap tempo ... so when you modify the global tempo, is there a way to get back to the original bpm of the preset you are on?
Sort of! So depending on the patch that you make you can set it to “global” or “preset” tempo. If it’s “global” that means that everything will retain the same bpm switching through every patch. (I prefer to run this way for extreme flexibility in patches, or I’d have to make a ton of presets at different bpms) If you choose “global” tempo make sure that your strymon pedals are setup in the same way with “global” instead of “preset”. Both can be accomplished in the same way! Let me know if that helps or if you have any more questions, thanks for leaving a comment!

Thanks for watching man! Hit me up with any questions/problems you run into. Happy to help!
Great advice! Would love to see a pedalboard video about your first to last pedalboard
@@GeoversePR Great idea! I’ll see if I can dig up some old pedalboard photos. Thanks!
Nice one Ricky. Really clear guide. I'm glad you covered more than just preset switching as MIDI is enormously powerful. Subscribed
Thank ya man! Agreed, midi has so much capability it’s insane!

Just figured listening to the end your method makes MIDI clock not needed :) So cool thanks for the tip!

I cant get my express pedal to work i have a LEhle dual exp
What are you trying to control with it? Also are you using a TRS cable? (Most of the time they need that instead of a normal instrument cable!)
@@rickyrayreid yes using a TRS cable.... when i go to the calibration menu the numbers dont move
Great video The G3 looks much easier to set up than the G2
I didn’t have the G2, but the lack of screen on there definitely feels like it would’ve been a challenge!
