Noobs, i sponged this place from '86-94! This place was very fickle. Tides and time made a huge difference. Hands down, i had the BEST IN AND OUT BARRELS at Mugu. Shared many solo sessions with some sea lion pups. They would swim up to me within 5 ft. Absolutely, the best spot in the 805 area code. I will defend my homebreak till i DIE! Y'all have no idea how magical this break is!!!!
This waves out in front of my house at Silver Strand were awesome and in Surfer and Surfing magazine every month at that time, but point Mugu navy base was hard to beat. Surfing there was like a dream come true with no one around. The best experience surfing has to offer in the 805 area codes.
So good good barrels were had here in the 70's ane 80's .. when my son joined the Navy i went in more frequently with him...he was raised within a few miles or Pt Mugu in TO so we always felt right at home..
Surfed this spot for ten years. So cold and Sharky vibe. Will always remember those barrels.
Clip should be called "not surfing" Pt Mugu
