The reason they don’t do that (I believe they used to) was to save on logistics costs and environmental impact as they have to bring enough tyres that every team can use their maximum allocation. Eg, even if no teams use the c5 they would still need to bring enough for 20 cars to have 4 sets, 20 * 4 * 4 = 320 tyres PER each different tyre.

With Karun and Brundle you have two men who know what they are talking about, being former F1 drivers, a straight and sincere Nathalie, and an excellent Matt as panel leader. Verry refreshing in this polarised world. Karun was spot on. They do not have any weak spots at this moment. Adrian Newey, Max, Marko , Horner, the mecanics and all the other people within Red Bull, they seem to inspire each other to reach for the impossible.Brundle was right. This is a verry special time in F1, and we are lucky to whitness it. It is not because I am Dutch, but as a F1 fan a driver like Max excites me race after race again. This boy is amazing.

This is just the DNA of F1:
There have ALWAYS been years certain drivers, certain teams, certain manufacturers dominated.
In the 70's Jackie Stewart with Ford.
In the 80's Mclaren, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
In the 90's Nigel Mansell, Williams Renault, Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher with Ferrari.
In the 00's Michael Schumacher with Ferrari and Fernando Alonso with Renault.
In the 10's Sebastian Vettel with Red Bull Renault and Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes.
And the past year and the last races Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez with Red Bull Honda.
So dominance was always present, some races were great and others not so great.
Because we've had an EPIC battle in 2021 Mercedes/Hamilton vs Red Bull Honda/Verstappen, because of the new fans, because of Drive to survive (Netflix) most (new) fans expect such a battle every race, every year but history begs to differ.
I just enjoy the (mostly midfield) racing and the gems every race offers.

Need to make drastic changes, so there's an opportunity for overtaking in corners like the older days, the fact there even needs to be drs zones so drivers can go quicker than another car on a straight to get past says everything about the ability to actually race imo! Whether that's big changes to the cars... or to the tracks, something needs to change because the drivers of old were able to show more racing ability/skill....having pre programmed setups, ect, at the touch of a button ruins race craft!

    • @leemartin3429

    • @Ruylopez778
      @Ruylopez778 Рік тому +1

We've seen overtakes in the corners this season. The biggest issue is the tyres, because most of the time they will manage tyres and wait for an undercut/overcut in the pits. The tyres are too sensitive and have been designed that way for years to artificially induce jeopardy. You have to go back many years to when drivers could push on the tyres. But the weight is also a big issue and nothing about that is going to change significantly because it's mostly there for safety. The obvious solution would be refuelling, but they don't want that for the cost and PR reasons, and changing aspects of the regulations to incentivise weight reduction over aero. For example, Scarbs says that the suspension could be made much lighter but it isn't because of its aero benefit. Next you need to remove all the simulation data they have at the weekend to predict when to pit, and prevent a lot of the driver coaching that helps drivers avoid problems. The cars and tracks aren't really the problem.

    • @Toon1893
      @Toon1893 Рік тому +1

@RuyLopezQB6 the drivers even say with the downforce now its harder to follow, they are bigger and heavier so difficult to take different lines, i agree with all your other points but definitely not that the cars don't need changed when thats been highlighted by the drivers themselves

The cars are too big and heavy, makes it difficult to genuinely race, take different lines and move under braking. With new sustainable fuels they should remove the hybrid element and the heavy batteries (I know engine suppliers won’t be happy, but f1 is such a strong marketing tool atm they will stick around) and make them smaller so they take up less space allowing more avenues to overtake in corners.

Usain Bolt was not told to use different shoes, of course you are fabricating the race if you're deliberately going from 1 tyre to two tyres, then 3 tyres. Your are deliberately adding jeopardy, that is manipulation, what other sport forces these sort of things (if you can still call it a true sport now)? This should be a sport of engineering, designing & driver skill (yes keep a budget cap, that forces efficiency in the design and engineering and not just a ManC situation, where you can have 2 full teams because you've got mega more money.).

So for me on the driver introductions I get it but it should be reserved for a meaningful event. Indy car does it but only for the Indy500. It would be good for the first race of the year to introduce the fans to the drivers for that season. Potentially Monaco (because of its history). I agree no we dont need to do it at every race. Also I think it isn't well received at Miami because is wasn't nor will it be (in my opinion) a race of the season or a memorable race, because of the layout of the circuit, it doesn't invite the same level of racing as other tracks. So ultimately you have a one off build up to a race which is more memorable than the race, so for me that takes away from the race itself.

60 overtakes... What's not to like? Max and Sergio only count for 9 of them.
Russel 7, Hamilton and Leclerc 6, Magnussen 5.
Was the most of this season so far, and 10 more than last years race.
If you want to watch crashes and chaos, you better watch other series.
F1 is engineering, strategy, driver skill, etc.
And Mercedes had a stronger first 5 races in 2019 (98,63%) then Red Bull now (95,32%)
Red Bull have now a 224 points out of 235.
People should stop complaining, and enjoy the marvel of engineering.
Mercedes were on it in 2014-2016, and Red Bull now in 2022 and 2023.

The unintended consequence of the budget cost cap is the constraint that is placed on the team's ability to adapt and recover from design mistakes. From an engineering perspective when teams create their respective car concepts they test and reference them in a vacuum or against 1-year-old relative data. The teams do not have insight into what their competitors do with their car concepts. The number of races will become problematic on the human side unless team sizes are increased to reduce mental or physical fatigue.

My personal take on things to shake up the racing.
    - Single practice session before qualifying. Giving effectively 6hrs of car running for teams to tweak their set up only helps maintain the performance order. More instinct on set up before the race throws in a chance of nailing it, also limits drivers learning the car with track too well. Single hour session then Quali on a Saturday.
    - Bringing back refuelling, 70% capacity tanks. But with a rule that you can’t change tyres when you refuel, so teams really have to strategically plan for both stops.
There is always a pecking order in F1, but without having restrictive regulations to the faster teams. Simply work the format so more things have to go right quicker in order to do so. And generate the odd unexpected result.

People keep on saying when Mercedes were dominating. When Mercedes were dominating Nico and Lewis were given equal treatment. Toto made sure Nico won in 2016 too. That was high drama between 2014-2016. Then Ferrari was competitive between 2017-2018, no one fault drivers get in a Ferrari and can't handle the bloody car. Lewis dominated in 2020. Then we got a fantastic competition in 2021, and then the Fia did something awful and ruined F1. Rule changes shouldn't be aggressive, they should just be made to adapt the competition not kill it off. The definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over again, and expecting a different result...aggressive rule change = one team domination. We know RB are backing Max not Perez which makes it boring. Don't ruin the Red Bull, but just do something to limit their DRS advantage and we might get a better competition for the rest of the season, or maybe drivers can defend against them a little harder.

BUT...a one stop race isn't exciting. This race Max and Checo started the race on two different compounds and they lapped pretty much at the same pace, just that the medium tyre died after 20 laps and the hard lasted much longer. When checo pitted for the hards, he was lapping at the same pace as max on the used hards.....give or take two-tenths...but it is the same pace. So basically there was no advantage and effectively no racing. Everyone else behind the bulls were lapping 1 sec off their pace.
Funny enough, RBR made a step in the winter. AMR made a step as well but, EVERYONE else made a step backward. Ferrari who was RBR's closest rival after last year are further off this year, that is crazy! Yes, the other teams haven't shown up but that race was pretty much a race between the two Red Bulls....and that isn't entertaining. We are right back to Merc's 8 years of dominance and that was boring after the first two years.
