    That's pretty cool, I remember similar iron laying around here when we was kids in the 70s. I believe Heil was based in Seattle back in the day, and continued making fuel tankers, dump boxes etc... and later doing custom paint. Cheers!

    Even if it’s only given a spot blasting and prime + paint job , to save as much as possible for the future that would be awesome

      I bought the GMC 20 years ago, we've had the tanker for almost as long. Both were in Anchorage: Thanks for watching!

    How the Trailer is Bracked ? whit Airbrackes ?

    • @AlaskaTrucker
      @AlaskaTrucker  7 місяців тому +1

      That's a good question: Some of the large WWII Mack and Autocar truck tractors had an onboard air compressor and airbrakes like any modern truck which would also activate the trailer brakes. The smaller trucks such as the CCKW had no air compressor, these smaller truck tractors would use the engine vacuum to apply the trailer brakes, via an air hose and glad-hand connected to the trailer. Those specific trailers had to be set up with vacuum brakes though. Vacuum brakes on trailers this large were used clear up into the 1950s - with marginal success. Vacuum trailer brakes were never as good as air brakes. Thanks for watching!

    What scale is the kit, please?

    • @AlaskaTrucker

      The Mack AC is 3/4 size but its not a kit. I created the truck from a 1976 Chevy half ton. Thanks for watching!
