Hey Sam, quick question: as a real estate agent, do you handle rentals?

Hi Sam! I’m a big fan of your videos. Maybe a future video can address taxes? What are property taxes like and do they vary by areas? Do cities include trash pickup or does a homeowner need to pay for private trash service? What about recycling? Are there strange ordinances in particular cities in Hampton Roads? Just some ideas…

You can find the property tax, sales tax, etc, for each municipality on their respective city websites. There is no out of pocket fee for trash/recycling pickup. Those city services come out of the money that each city collects in taxes.
If you own a home, you will pay for water/sanitation as a monthly bill.
If you rent an apartment, normally you pay the apartment company a fee for water/sanitation at the same time that you pay your monthly rent. It usually comes to $50 to 100 or so dollars.
