  • The Weave and Mumbo Box Lacrosse Offense is a simple motion offense based on the Duke Fade and Follow Offense. It's easy for players to remember and creates a ton of great shooting opportunities!

As a defender in high level box lacrosse this offensive concept has kept me awake at night hopelessly trying to figure out a reliable way to stop the shot opportunities

Love that it's continuous and involves every player on every possession.

Great offense anything that attacks the middle of the floor works for me! What are your thoughts on a 3 man pass pick away usually see it in open set in field lax. Do you think it could work for box?

Great video. I'm in the process of implementing this with our JV box team. It's different than the typical pass down, pick down offense and will help my players understand pick & roll concepts as I utilize a 2-2-2 offense in field since I don't have many players who can beat people on their own.

Awesome to hear. Let me know how it goes. Do you like to pick with your two players up top in your 2-2-2?

POWLAX yes, I feel that opens up the field and exploits that many kids on the JV level haven’t figured out how to defend a solid pick and roll. It also makes it easier for our players to pick up slides and pass behind them for easier shots. It also allows us to isolate our better players with more room to work. Hope that makes sense. Love your content 👌🏻

Hey Kevin, the weave in a field setting is coming as quickly as I can get to it. I'm currently working on a coaches certification program for a local club. The weave will be a part of the 21-12 Offense series. It works basically the same way as it would in this offense with a few exceptions. First, there won't be a player to replace the picker who slips to the net (unless you coach it into the offense and don't mind having attackman up top). For the most part, that player will slip and if he isn't open on the slip, he will pop back up top for the next pick on that side. Second, there are a bunch of ways that you can move into it. The Duke Fade and Follow offense uses the cuse motion to move into a weave up top and they have added roll backs to get to the middle. North Carolina used a single overlap last year that started with a really big sweep from the midfield. Third, there is a much bigger reliance on refusing the pick and dodging the alley in the field game. I hope that helps for now. The 21-12 series is first on my list of field videos for Spring.

Hey POWLAX. I've started using this offense for our indoor high school league in New Zealand. The only thing is that our picks in this league have to be like field-picks. We're having a lot of trouble making the pick across the top effective.
Do you have any more footage of your guys playing this offense? It would be really helpful to use in a classroom session with my players.
    Thanks

What's up Anthony, I don't have much extra footage that I'll be able to find and share quickly. Even if I did, I don't think it would help much considering the picks. Since you have to set field picks, I would watch the Duke Fade and Follow Video that this is based on as well as that complete Duke game ua-cam.com/video/hh21vI1vS0E/v-deo.html. The main difference you'll have is that you won't rotate in a cuse type fashion, you'll go right into the weave on the pass down. What kind of issues are you having? Definitely consider not setting picks and slipping prior.
