Webber and DC, two of my favorite dudes that just never had the luck to get that WDC :/ Always great to see them in videos and weekends still in love with the sport tho
If they're gonna make Top Gear what it once was, they're gonna need some middle aged men who have dirty minds, they have their unique characters, can all be offensive at random moments, and all have great chemistry. No I'm not on about Clarkson, Hammond and May as that won't happen, but at least three people similar to them. They should also bring back the old format.
Watching Mark Webber battle for championships and represent our nation on the track will always be some of my favourite past times. It has been great to watch your career up to this point. Thanks Mark 👍👍
Loved this. Mark was my all time favourite driver by a long way. So many memories of his journey. I particularly remember the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix - his first podium - and how Williams screwed him strategically to the benefit of Heidfeld. I was so angry when this happened! Turns out so was Mark!
I met Mark at the Porsche building at Le Mans in June 2019 and he was gracious enough to spend an hour with me and my friend talking about racing in Formula 1 and giving us some amazing stories and insights. It was the highlight of the weekend for me. I was lucky enough to see Mark again at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 3 months later and after filming some segment with DC, I yelled out that we had met and spoken at Le Mans. Mark was nice enough to come over and shake hands before he continue on with his TV crew. Mark is a true class act and made the year for this motorsport fan.
Great video. I've always liked Mark as a bloke and a driver. I started watching F1 in 2008 and haven't missed a single race since so I've seen a fair few of Mark's battles. Very grounded and well reasoned guy too.
Great interview. Huge fan of Mark Webber, great driver, top bloke and down to earth. The friendship between DC and Mark is awesome, don't ever change boys.
MW was a great F1 driver, he had some decent and solid results when he finally got a decent car (had to wait 7 years for that). He also had some big crashes in his career in F1 and before F1 (lucky to survive them). It's a pity he had some poor starts off the grid and that costed him quite a bit. He'll probably regret never being on the podium in the Australian Grand Prix.
For all the drama that comes with 2 drivers racing so closely so often, in the moment its so easy to forget the greatness witnessed through all the sh!t. So good to relive these great moments in racing again. Their rivalry was truly grand 💪
Hahaha yep, all the time. Once worked with a Polish guy, learning English as he went. One day he asked a group of us "Why everything is bloody?" Bloody classic.
Mark Webber ...top bloke....could imagine him talking to the car in his helmet during the race like Ken Miles in recent movie...an image I’ll always remember with his helmet off on his last F1 race heading off the the sunset... pure Webber....Cheers
Two of the finest sportsmen to grace F1's books. Always liked Mark and am glad he's still involved with the circus. His face at the end of that cool-down room multi-21 chat says it all. That's someone hugely disappointed in their teammate, and you know it's something he would never have done himself.
Coulthard and Webber having a half hour long chat? Sign me up! These guys are easily two of the most likeable drivers to have graced the grid since I started watching in '97. Only thing missing is Button to make it a threesome.
Yes, top respect for Mark Webber, to put in the performances he did and almost get the championship with the backdrop of clearly a bias towards Vettel in the team was an outstanding. Mark definitely was worthy of a WDC and more race wins.
Mark is still my favorite F1 driver. He always spoke his mind and continued to push and get the most out of the car in spite of the team clearly favoring Vettel at the time. He was so close to being a champion a few times. Just a few lucky breaks here and and few better starts there and he would have been on top.
Sorry but when did webber challenge more then 2010? Seb also had unlucky moments in 2010, he lost 2 race wins from reliability, thats 50 points. Its actually stupid that you guys keep talking that webber was treated badly. Redbull saw a bright flash at the end of the tunnel with vettel that gave them 4 titles. You can just see how badly beaten after 2010 webber was against vettel. When seb was winning titles webber was barely getting a few podiums
Ultimately though, while I'm no fan of Vettel, the right man won the 2010 title. All 4 title contenders made mistakes, but Hamilton was always punching above his weight and the car lost competitiveness at the end of the season. Alonso's win would always have been overshadowed by Germany, while Vettel got like 10 poles and while he did make many stupid mistakes (him and Webber more than the other two), he was also the most unlucky. If I'm being honest, that 2010 red bull was as dominant as 2011 red bull it was just bad luck (engine, brake failures) held Vettel very far back.
Two quite similar careers between Coulthard and Webber: both were very solid number two drivers, who fought in the top for several seasons each, but neither managed to win a championship.
I agree! And that's despite the fact they're not actually at the circuits this year, broadcasting from places like the Silverstone Experience or McLaren Technology Centre.
I'm a fan of Webber but there's always such a focus on Vettel & crashes - he won 9 Grands Prix but there was almost nothing about them. Germany 2009 worth a mention?

But Lego minifigs have round faces? Maybe they can star as a 2x4 brick
His jaw is literally a piece of Lego.
To almost become a WDC in 2010 is not bad for a number 2 driver
Then he wasn't number 2 driver
Like 40% of the newbee F1 fans didn’t experienced the Vettel vs Webber fight. It was unreal how rookie Vettel didn’t budge and became 4 time WDC.

Definitely deserved that title... top class Mark - genuine, humble, talented, great bloke. True Aussie!
