    In this Video, we're going to have an awesome Q&A with Cessna 210 pilot, Nate. Nate started his pilot journey by becoming an aircraft owner first. And boy did he get a great deal. Searching on Craigslist one day in Hawaii he found an old Grumman Yankee for sale. Bough the plane for only $7500. He then proceeds to get his private pilot license in that plane. For those of you who say that aviation is expensive, Nate only got his license and plane for around $14,000! He later made money by flipping the plane for $1,500 more. He actually made money while getting his license and experience. Another topic we're going to cover is about the 1967 Cessna 210. Nate also got this on a great deal and has been using it for missionary work.

    The path Nate took to getting his Private Pilot Certificate is very cool! $90 an hour (his own plane + CFI) versus $300 (rented plane + CFI)? Easy decision - if you are in a position to get those stars to align, and if you put in the work.

    One thing to note is the fuel and maintenance can be expensive depending on how much you fly. Not to mention tiedown can be as low as 80 bucks a month to around 400 a month. Your area can make a hudge difference. I mean you could also buy a pipistrel for around 100k, but you also are running at 2-3 g/h compared to 14-15 g/h that that cesna 210 gets. Not to mention the pipistrel uses regular car fuel which is about half the price of aviation fuel. And thats not even talking about the anuel check which is more expensive depending on how complex the aircraft is.
    So basicly you will spend a lot more upfront, but far less over time. For most aircraft the expensive part is flying, not the initial buying price.

  • @stewartw.9151
    @stewartw.9151 3 роки тому

    One important tip. For that first aircraft the Grumman AA1A,B or C is the perfect choice - simple machine, decent performance, cheap to operate and maintain and run. I had one and flew 2000 hours with it very effectively and economically. Some buy a more complex, higher performance machine and find that costs escalate dramatically and they can no longer afford those growing costs.
    I flew my Grumman for 16 years and sold it for 10 times what I paid for it! Aircraft rarely depreciate if cared for.

    Pilot/engineer/A&P of 30+ years here. "Buying an airplane is cheap as compared to maintaining it." I wish you the best and blue sky. Bee Safe.
    BTW I have a 68 337 and love the early 210. Pay attention to the gear.

    wow what a great interview. this gentleman is fantastic. i actually know the group/non profit in Corona, CA. that he's talking about. At the time, I was staff photographer for the Press-Enterprise. We flew to Arizona and back. the pilot graciously gave me ten minutes of flying time in the 210 Cessna. what a small world.

    What a guy! I love this story... All I gotta say is he's super deserving of his first plane. He remained patient and supportive of his wife, and made sure she's taken care of before he was even able to THINK about getting that plane. That makes total sense, given what he's passionate about, and not having airspace experience... He considered the possibilities of not being there and made sure she's set up, cause you never know.
    But it made me laugh, at first, I thought jeez, never been truer words, "Happy Wife Happy Life". But that's not at all with ill intent. It's actually the most loving and selfless act a man can do for his spouse.
    Not only do I love the way he thinks, I'm happily reminded there's people out in this world, whether you believe it or not, who's compassionately driven to leave it in a much better place than when life's journey begins.
    Awesome stuff.🤙 EVERYBODY should find this inspiring, as everything he does is with love. We need MUCH more love in our world.

    Started my training in 1984. My new neighbor moved into our new housing track just two doors up from ours. We first met at a carpet store picking out carpet and realized they were buying a house in the same track. He looked military and later learned he was stationed a March AFB. I told him I was a electrician and owned my own company, he asked if I could add a few outlets for him, which I did. A few weeks later he called me up and invited me to go flying. I jumped on the opportunity and we drove down to March AFB and few out in a T-34 trainer. I'll never forget the first time I took control of the stick (only) he told me to keep my feet [off] the peddles in a way only a private could relate.. At that moment I was hooked, it was a child dream come true. I always loved planes, build models, flew u-control models, wanted to be a pilot but my mother thought it was to dangerous at the age of 9, so all I could do was look up at the sky and watch planes fly over our house on down wind to Burbank AP.
    My neighbor at the time was a captain and was a CFI-II. Finally at the age of 34 I finally started my flying instruction. I soled in 13 hours and on that day I will never forget his words of encouragement...he said, I've never had a student crash and if you crash I will kick your burnt carcass to the end of the runway. We became best friends after that.

    Congrats on your adventure. I had a similar experience. I bought half interest in a PA28-140 at the behest of my partner who was a Fed-Ex contract pilot and certified instructor who used to run a flight service. He said if I didn't haggle on the price to his current partner, he would teach me to fly for free. I jumped at the chance, put together $7500 and was half owner before I touched the throttle. We had the plane STC'd for auto gas and I quickly elf-taught ground school and accumulated 80 hours before I took my check ride. Over time, I assumed most of the cost of maintenance and became 70% owner. I logged about 350 hours in that airplane. We later sold it for 15k as I was flying commercial a lot. I would love to have it back though. Creative thinking can get you flying for much less than you might think. Thanks for your stories. They are excellent.

    This is such a great story and experience Nate is sharing. If you want to know what primary flight training looks like, you need to watch the videos posted by Nate when he was learning to fly in Hawaii. His flight training journey is incredible! You will see a young buck pulling himself up by his bootstrap, building confidence, learning how to handle the crosswinds like a boss.....very impressed at how he handled it. The first few lessons are overwhelming. You will be in sensory overload. You have to figure out everything....how to steer the airplane on the ground with your feet, how to handle power settings, mixture control and how to trim the airplane......it is a lot to handle! Add the radio/communications piece, and you really need to lean on your instructor hard those first few hours. I flew with a bunch of different instructors, and they all have a different style. I can relate to the comment where Nate said you need to “find your rhythm” with your instructor. After a few times of flying with each other, you get more comfortable and it is not as awkward. Here is the link to Nate’s video reference here: ua-cam.com/video/firojbsr7JM/v-deo.html

    To the guy in the video; you're awesome and an absolute inspiration. To Mojo: man, 13 ads in this video. I know you want to "make a million" again but stop treating your viewers like a commodity. That is too much ads!! Give us a break or you will start to lose support.
