Anton Bruckner : Landler WAB 122 for Guitar

- I have just finished my transcription of the Adagio from Bruckner's 8th Symphony, but I wanted to record this Ländler first.😁 Just kidding!

I didn't know this composition for guitar by Anton Bruckner, a composer of great artistic and cultural importance.
This Ländler WAB 122 is delightful and is written with great skill.
You play with excellent technique, excellent sound control and exquisite elegance.
You gave me a few pleasant and poetic minutes that go perfectly with the images of a festive nature.

Thank you very much for your kind comments, dear Antonio! They are always very encouraging! The Ländler (unfortunately I didn't mention it) was of course originally composed for piano by Bruckner.
Unfortunately, his great symphonies cannot be transcribed for the guitar. 😄But it was a wonderful experience for me many years ago to be able to attend some Bruckner performances by the Munich Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sergio Celebidache.

Nicely played, Stefan! You live in the right place to get the scenery needed for this video too. I've done some of Giuliani's Landler before, but I've not heard this Bruckner piece. I'll check out your transcription.

Folk music is a great source of inspiration for musicians like Schubert, Mahler or Bruckner. Very nice transcription and interpretation dear Stefan. Looking forward your arrangement of the Adagio. As Berlioz said, the guitar is like a little orchestra 👏👏👏👏
Thank you Herve! 🙂🙏But transcribing the Adagio from the 8th Symphony was just a joke: yes, the guitar is a small orchestra, but this symphony by Bruckner is considered the Mount Everrest of symphonic music: the Adagio alone lasts 30 minutes.
There are transcriptions of a Haydn symphony for 2 guitars.
For guitar solo, I only know the transcription by Yamashita of Dvorak's 9th Symphony, which Jorge Caballero plays here

Ich wußte gar nicht, dass es von Bruckner so schöne Landler gibt und schon gar nicht, dass sie auf der Gitarre spielbar sind. Das muss man erst einmal so hinbringen..und dann geht es nur so durch die Tonarten...

Der Ländler oder Steiermärker hingegen ( das Orginal ein Klavierstück ) war gar nicht so schwer auf die Gitarre zu übertragen. Die richtige Tonart und dann ein bischen ausdünnen.
Aber ich hab auch nur den einen Ländler von ihm gefunden, von Schubert gibt es ja über Hundert davon.

Auf das Adagio bin ich schon neugierig. Aber auch so ein Landler kann wunderschön sein, wenn du ihn spielst. Hat etwas tröstliches. 👏🎸🎶🙂
Das mit dem Adagio war nur ein Scherz!😁 In der Version dirigiert von Celibidache hat es eine Länge von 32 Minuten und ist auch nicht wirklich für Gitarre geeignet. Es gibt so Verrückte , die spielen Dvoraks 9te Symphonie auf der Gitarre:

@@StefanNiggl Ah, alles klar. Ich muss gestehen, dass ich das Adagio nicht kenne. Sonst hätte ich es auch als Scherz erkannt. Bin in dieser Epoche ziemlich daneben. Aber neugierig war ich auf ein Adagio trotzdem.
