Actually the Deinosuchus IS closer to a crocodile. The Sarco is more akin to a Gharial/Gavial (however you want to call it). Anyway id name it Steve after, obviously, Steve Irwin. RIP
Here are some fun facts about these creatures. Sarosuchus and Deinonychus were in reality very similar in length. The Deinosuchus was a lot bulkier tho. BUT there was one crocodile bigger than both. The Purussaurus, which was almost 2 meters larger than both of them.
Being someone who absolutely loves Alligators and Crocodiles, I can say this creature is fantastic. The black dots on the head of the alligator and Caiman and the body of the croc are called DPRs, the can detect the change in water pressure that can be caused by prey. Gators have the wider upper jaw allowing it to hide the smaller bottom jaw while crocs have the same size jaws showing off its teeth. Gators have the wide U shaded heads while crocs have the V shape. The teeth on a croc are also more pointed compared to the more round ones on a alligator, doesn't make the gator any less deadly though 😂 The crocodile you where talking about is Gustave a Nile croc who was estimated to have killed 300 people from the Ruzizi River and the shores of Lake Tanganyika. He was known as the serial killer crocodile :3
For a name, i think Lockjaw! Since these creatures latch on with an insane bite force, they ain't gonna be letting go. I do hope they get added officially one day, we needore crocodilian creatures in the game because i enjoy using the Sarco despite its flaws
James Burgess yeah it is the same person who created the brachie. He also created the deinonychus which was added to the game so it could possibly be added. I hope it does. I am on console so I can’t get any mods.
"They have a death animation" except the Archelon, the Acro, the Domination Rex, and the Xihphactinus. Actually I'm pretty sure its only the Brachi and the Deino but I cannot deny it looks good.
A crocodiles lower jaw is attached to it skull while the upper jaw moves. And alligators upper jaw is attached to it skull while the lower jaw moves. Like a person. Our upper jaw is attached to the scull and our lower jaw moves. That’s the difference between crocodiles and alligators.
This is my entire gameplay experience taming absolutely anything in Genesis, especially the Arctic Biome. It's miserable losing potential tames and new tames through the ground tens of times.... I got anxious watching that part of the video lol.

2:00 Btw syntac, you are right, that is an aligator type dino for ark. the main distinction between gators and crocs is the shape of their Jaw/snout area. Aligators have u-shaped snouts (what you see here) and crocs have a v shaped one, or a more narrow one. This is due to types of animals they usually devour. Crocs have the narrow shaped head for aerodynamics in water and to eat fish easily, where as aligators need raw bite power, and surface area for devouring larger animals like deer or other mammals.
Toast the Carnotaurus you know that the average deinosuchus was actually just 10m ? And that sarco was actually 9m average? Ye they both got a huge downsize
That croc is called Gustave, that would be an epic name for the Deinosuchus. Also Gustave was a crocodile not an alligator, they are way more terrifying and grow alot bigger, Gustave was supposedly more than 900 kgs
Rn I’m writing exams and u have motivated me to do ark videos, I like to have your vids playing in the background while I study, you and axeman have taught me a lot about ark and I’ve loved playing it ver since axeman’s Jurassic Ark series and this cluster series, after my exams I’m going to be doing a whole lot of ark videos and my own series, thanks syntac🙏🏾I love ur vids ur truly an inspiration🔥🔥❤️(btw I’m re-watching this series it was so good that I had to)
I just love hearing all the talk about croc's and gator's. The models look great in game. As an Aussie, bring it on. Love these survival games. Bring it home. Spiders, Snakes, Croc's. Ark needs a drop bear.
7:56 the dots are used for detecting water pressure under their eyes Alligators can't see down and that's why they have those dots so they know if something is underneath them
okay so for those of you who don't know the way to tell an alligator from a crocodile you can tell which is which by the snout if it has a round bulbous snout its an aligator if it has a more square snout its a croc, love your videos syn !

A quick websearch says: yes, on the same crocodilian branch as alligators; yes, had that underbite; no, size compared to the sarco is probably wrong.
Gustav the crocodile in real life is thought to have over 300 kills. He's incredibly massive for a crocodile of his age. Crocodiles continuosly grow throughout their lives, but Gustav is huge, and shows no sign of tooth loss, meaning he's relatively young and will get even larger with age. He has a few bullet scars on one of his shoulders, which is beyond intimidating.
Deinosuchus' initial model was 100% alligator, but the model they are now recieved TLC and the jaw is actually inspired by a creature from dragon's dogma. I usually name Deinosuchus i tame either Mary (female), Agro or Charlie(males) after Steve Irwin's crocodiles. Could also name it "Snapmaw" after the crocodile robots from Horizon Zero Dawn.
In actuality the deinosuchus would be dwarfed compared to a sarco. Sarcos grew to be over 8000 kilos, while the deinosuchus grew to the largest of almost 5000 kilos.
~Most of the *common* methods for distinguishing an alligator from a crocodile have at least a couple exceptions. The most reliable form of identification is actually checking the creature's pressure sensory organs (those dots in the middle of their scales on their bellies and sides.) Alligators have pressure sensors only on their lower jaw, while crocodiles have pressure sensors going down their entire body, if I recall correctly.~ EDIT: WELL I GUESS I SHOULD'VE WAITED TO COMMENT BECAUSE YOU COVER THAT EXACT THING. I thought they were pressure sensors, not electro receptors, though.
That Doedic that u hit with the fully mutated deinosuchus, the reason it disappeared is because it had basically just spawned, test it out, spawn something in or hatch something and automatically hit it, the dino will dissapear
Syntac , Fun Fact! : Deinosuchus was one of the largest species in the crocodilians species, larger than sarcosuchus and slightly larger than purrasuchus
I believe that the sarchosuchus the longest crocodilian, deinosuchus was the widest and purrusaurus was the heaviest. And I think that purrusaurus lived way earlier but the sarcosuchus and deinosuchus lived at similar times.
Just got a new PC, and you've inspired me to start my own ARK UA-cam channel. You've basically taught me everything I know about ARK, and hopefully one day we'll get to play together. Keep up the amazing work, Syndaddy!
Deinosuchus is an extinct genus of crocodilian related to the modern alligator. Sarcosuchus is also an extinct genus of crocodyliform and distant relative of living crocodylians. In real life Sarcosuchus was bigger than Deinosuchus but not by a whole lot
Syntac...loved that breeding video, really helped me, but if the 2 creatures that have the perfect stats have babies with hugely different levels( not the mutation), what is going wrong?
Ack... Syntac, can you be showing the mutation process? I love it when I get to see the mutations are first gotten. And I kinda like the mutations more than the testing. Also, I like the sarco more because it’s a vanilla creature, an original creature, and all around looks better.
In my opinion, the Deinosuchus not only looks better, and more accurate to real life than the Sarco, but also is actually usable in combat, instead of the Sarco who's only superior to the Deino in terms of speed.

Acrocanthosaurus
