@@teresa4645 well that depends. For example if the dirt is mixed with water, the oil on your hair will reject the dirty water. Basic chemistry. Now I don't know every kind of dirt people come across but if it's just basic dust, it'll come right off with warm water. Believe me. I've been doing nopoo for 3 years and my hair is the prettiest it has ever been.
@@teresa4645 ... Good question ! Body oils are not grease. Everyday heavy oils, vegtable or petrol based are but a few of the many. Nature has all kinds of oils with all kinds of properties, such as the odd sounding "drying oil". Sebum is not only an oil that lubricates but also protects the hair folicule. By combing it through and coating the shaft it then oxidises and semi soloidifies to protect the hair. (of course, i'm talking about a natural balanced healthy scalp.) This is why you'll read in history the women with the most beautiful hair comb their locks a hundred times. It's cleaning and conditioning all at once...and they didn't have shampoo back then.
@JessikaEmerald i wash it with warm water. I don't use any styling products. If I want my curls to be better I just scrunch it with water. I wash my hair like 2 times a week. I also only detangle it wet but that's just because I have curly hair. And thank you ♥️
When i was a child i only used bar soap and coconut milk and make my hair shine and healthy but when shampoo came out my hair came frizzy and dry😔😢 i will surely try this no poo hair.
Have a look at Green Beauty channel. I am having a go at washing my hair with Rhassoul and Kaolin clay. The video on it explains the science of how clean hair and scalp, by removing toxins and balances the positive and negative charge energy from the hair and scalp.
@@mia_ash baking soda made my hair very weak and it started falling off big time after 2 years, so be careful. baking soda is actually too alkaline for the scalp.
I'm six years in to the no poo lifestyle - water only, no baking soda, ACV, etc. First 2 weeks was rough... I just wore my hair up. One of the best things I've ever done.
ror ror Cant say without knowing your routine. I mean, its never going to smell good like shampoo was put through it, because shampoo is scented. You do have the scrub you scalp though. When the water runs over it in the shower it needs to been massaged and scratched (with finger nails) to get off the dead skin cells. If not they goop together with the natural hair oil, build up, and cause an odor odor.
I’ve gotta say, this is the first video on this topic that I’ve seen, where the girls hair actually looks nice and healthy and not greasy. This method truly does work for you.
As someone who lives in the ocean and always had salty and wet hair I couldn’t keep shampooing. It was drying out my hair. The only thing I put is oils or conditioners before I go in the beach. Then I rinse it out and that’s it. My hair is long healthy and strong. No issues and never oily.
I only wash my hair with water now and used to have an extremely greasy scalp. I find when showering, its best to section the hair and use the shower nozzle to spray warm water directly on all the areas of the scalp and to use your hands to spread the grease to the tips of the hair. If I wake up with a greasy head and wash my hair this way, literally all of the grease goes away and it doesn't smell at all. It takes a bit longer to rinse through every section but its so worth it.
I went no poo at the beginning of covid and through months of lock down. Once i got passed the first 3 months it was smooth sailing. I love how my hair feels now and how managble it is
Try mustard powder for growing your hair. It’s a 100 y.o method that was used by my grandma and probably by her grandma too. Dilute a dry mustard powder with a little water to create a paste. Put it in your roots and wait. Very soon you will feel a warmth and then intense warmth:) Try to wait as long as it’s bearable. Then rinse it with cool water and apple cider vinegar diluted in water. By the way it’s a super method for greasy hair because mustard powder has been used for years to clean greasy pans and pots so it’s super powerful against grease. The only downside it’s can dry out your hair so use only on your roots. But it’s amazing for stimulating your hair to grow.
Since I've done the whole nopoo process my hair has gotten curlier! I'm loving it! I just got to the stage where the ends of my hair aren't oily anymore. This has been the best decision I've made in a long time. I've notice less falling out as well. No flakes!!! 🙌 All I do is wet my hair down with water in the shower and work the water into my hair like shampoo is there. Oh and I too have PCOS! IT SUCKS SOOO BAD!!!! Losing weight is so freaking hard!!! But anyways loving my new nopoo hair!!! 😜 Good luck with everything chick!
I started it today. Thursday, 16 April 2020. Hopefully, this will be the last time I use shampoo. 🤞🏼 *Latest edit July 28* *About me :* I am an asian and people says that my hair is thick. But I've seen others with *real thick* hair and my hair is far from it. Let's say it's a decent amount 😅. My hair falls down to my waist. Some parts of me thought that maybe this length would not be a good time, but we need to start somewhere, right? If I keep on waiting until I cut off my hair, I'll just keep on procastinating. • *Edit April 20 :* I did my first water only wash on April 18 because I'm trying to follow my usual schedule which is a wash every 2 days. And then I'm planning to move on to wash once every 3 days after 2 week or so. The first water wash went well and somehow my scalp felt cold. I usually get very warm and sweating whenever I took a shower, but instead I felt cool and wasn't sweating at all! I took the second water only wash today April 20 and the same thing happen. I like it so far. No sign of over grease so far 😄 • *Edit April 30 :* It's been two weeks already! Had my water only wash today. Two days ago I started noticing the build up in my comb. It was like a wax and its grey. I remember someone talking about that on water wash only videos. So it was expected. I also read and watched that wooden brush can help to spread the natural oil, so I ordered wooden brush yesterday. Hopefully I'll have it tomorrow. 😊 • *Edit May 11 :* I washed my hair with baking soda and water yesterday. It reduced a lot of the grease. But I read that using baking soda for a long period of time might harm the scalp because the difference in the pH level. So I'm planning to wash my hair with baking soda and water maybe once in 3 weeks or once in a month. • *Edit June 3 :* I almost washed my hair with shampoo because of a certain condition. But thankfully I decided not to. I finally able to wash my hair after 1 week now! I washed my hair on May 30 after washing it in June 22 and it wasn't oily at all! I just thought not to push it further and instead try to expand the days in between washes slowly. It's been 4 days already since the last wash and my hair feels great and not oily. 😊 • *Edit July 28:* It's been a while, huh? Maybe because I just got used to the routine by now. So far I have only wash my hair with water once a week and water plus baking soda solution twice so far. I'm planning to do it every one month. Earlier this month I was able to not wash my hair for 15 days! And it felt normal. No excess amount of oil or and discomfort. I just decided to wash it because I might eventually forget to do it lol 😅. My hair has been growing normally. I usually brush my hair with wood brush once every two days or so. And I wash my hair once a week. So far, this schedule works great for me. When I just got started, my hair would be damp even on the 3rd day. Now, my hair dries up very quick; maybe not more than 3 hours. But if it's raining, it might takes up to a day. I'm currently trying to get a natural shampoo bar for my hair. I feel like my hair is ready for it. 😊
I am 68 ( I haven't washed my hair in 4 yrs)and put nothing on my hair but the occasional Cetaphyl body wash...like once a month or if I am pretty dirty from gardening. It is not greasy as it was ail the years I washed it with shampoo. I do brush in all directions two or three times a day. It is very shiny and smooth and I have few split ends and no dandruff. My hair is fine and therefore when I did wash often it was really greasy very fast. In older days ( like MY grandmother) women kept their combings in a little china box with a hole in the middle to make a 'rat' that provided the poof for Gibson girl dos or french roles etc. My hair has always grown 'like a dogs" in that I would get a crew cut of new hair under the older hair and as the new stuff got longer, the old stuff fell out. this happens less noticeably as I have gotten older, but I never have thiner or thicker hair. I do not have curls or waves from this as many have said. It is still straight as a poker. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN COMMENTS OF IT SMELLING BAD ( AND BELIEVE ME, MY KIDS ARE BLUNT AND WOULD SAY SO) I only get comments about how shiny it is and soft. this is not for every one, but it works for me.
Brushing your hair 100 strokes every night does wonders for your hair and scalp. At my age, I have more scalp than hair. But I have a very healthy scalp.
James Poule actually that's something that is more common from a historical p.o.v. and when combined with modern chemical cleansers, it is not too good to brush that much. But.......... this may not help you. :/
Haven't washed my hair with shampoo in over two months. My scalp problem cleared up for the most part, but my hair is super oily. When I run my hands through my hair, I can feel the oil on my fingers. Besides that, people have been complimenting me on my hair.
I seen someone say that if you wash it too soon it gets oily. So like if you’re washing it twice a week it has a higher chance of being oily than once a week. Everyone is different.
I learned this in high school biology. My teacher got so many faces when he was like « people just shower to smell good, not because they actually need to » since that day which was my FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL in California.. in 2014, and since then I feel like I progressively cut out the use of shampoos, but then conditioner was hard to let go because it was the main product that made. My hair feel not as thick.. But it does seem more natural just using water. I completely agree with the dirty claims, my sister was going so in on how I was behaving dirty, and I’m gross, and I was just like 😭 how do you even explain something that doesn’t need to be wash. I love this video tbh I am so glad I randomly stumbled onto it lol . I never thought people would actually do this ❤️🤟🏻 I feel like you and me are so alike with hair 😭😭😭😭 wish i would have seen this earlier in life. Except for the growth my hair grows like crazy 🙃
No people do not shower just to smell good. You should shower for sanitary purposes and products such as soap help clean areas. If this wasn't the case medical professionals wouldn't even bother washing their hands which is basically the same thing as showering but for your whole body. Your skin collects alot due your oils and dried up dead cells, so your biology teacher is wrong in that sense. If it makes you feel better I had a biology teacher say a cow has four stomachs and... They do not. Biology teachers are very generic and only have bits of info, I had a science teacher incorrectly tell the class that fans do not change the temperature which was false, just food for thought.
You’ve made a well-articulated presentation of your no-poo experience. You have lustrous, photogenic hair, and I suggest you worry about something else. As a black woman with Dry, kinky curls and oily dandruff, no poo has kept my scalp clear and my hair happy and manageable for almost 15 years. I use vinegar differently: I take a half-empty bottle of silicone-free conditioner and fill it with vinegar. I shake it up and this 50-50 mixture is what I massage into my scalp and comb through my hair each morning instead of shampoo. I rinse it well, then condition and go. I’ve had issues with anxiety affecting my hair. What worked is exercise. Even just walking every day. Anxiety is a species of fear, and that’s just your fight or flight impulse Running riot. The only thing for it is physical activity. Any sort of exertion burns up that fuel. Lastly, have you ever tried Viviscal? I’ve always wondered…
Based on your hair. The shampoo companies should really take a page out of your book and prepare their models for shampoo commercials by telling them to stop using shampoo.
I've just started to use Ghassoul clay instead of shampoo, just once a week, and so far I quite like it. Apple Cider Vinegar is also a good rinse, as you mentioned yourself. I have not tried this one myself yet, but if you want your hair to grow quicker and thicker, I've heard that Amla Powder (either as a hair mask or 1-2 spoons in your drinks/meals) really helps with hair growth :) Your hair looks absolutely stunning and you really inspired me to keep my no poo routine going :) Thanks a lot!! ♥
I started washing my hair with ghasoul too, but it feels like my scalp isn't quite clean from the clay though I washed and brushed it very well. My hair is curly and very dry that's why I decided to drop shampoo. Can u tell me about ur experience with ghasoul.
Recipes for the 'no-poos' at 3:30. About 1/4 cup of baking powder and a gallon of water & shake it up. Or about 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and a gallon of water. (Adjust according to time of year, hormones etc)
Nothing affects hair growth other than hormones and physical morphing to the actual holes in your scalp. I can accept the idea that something like rice water affects hair, but not actual hair growth.
Omg. Lol. The opening of your video, every word you said I was thinking "OMG me too!" I'm actually about 6 years since i stopped using shampoo. Also, i was thinking "her hair is the same color as mine, I wonder if--YES! It's Henna!" (Which I've been using for about the same length of time since ibstopped using shampoo.) My hair has never been healthier. My hair is longer than I have ever been able to grow it before. Like a full foot longer, and before if itvwas too my collar bones, it was a stringy tangled mess. Now it's healthy and I get complimented all the time. (I need a trim though. Lol...its been way too long) Thank youbfir this video. Your hair is beautiful. Shampoo is a lie.
First, you're gorgeous! Second, a great natural hair growth product is msm, which is sulphur. Our bodies need sulphur and we don't often get enough. You can take it internally and you can add it to hair oils or creams you use and massage it in to stimulate growth as well. Embrace your curls girl! That's who you are
I also have PCOS, things that I recommend for increasing hair growth and reducing breakage: 1. Take very high quality daily vitamins not cheap brands like Centrum and grocery store brands. I used those for years and when I switched after a doctor recommendation, I noticed a big difference in both hair and nails in about a month's time. I use Pure encapsulations O.N.E. multivitamin brand, you can order on amazon. 2. Use Grow Gorgeous Hair Density Serum Intense also available on amazon. They aren't cheap but much better for you than artificial stuff and you will notice a difference. I usually start out using 20 drops a day (recommended amount on box) daily, then reduce to 10 drops a day for maintenance.
Baking soda is probably the most useful practical product. So many uses. Effective. Natural. If you happen to drink it, use bob red mills over arm and hammer (it’s still inexpensive)
See I’m like three weeks in and I think I’m just gonna stick with water cause like you use baking soda on pots and pans so it’s really heavy duty plus I don’t want to be reliant on baking soda like I was with shampoo
You can probably use Jamaican Black Castor Oil to help your hair grow alittle. Only if the ACV rinse or baking soda solution is strong enough to wash it away.
Mix the castor oil with a little coconut oil. My hair grew down to my waist in a very short time. I'm 43 and this is the longest my hair has ever been. I have cut my hair only every 6 months or even longer all of my life, and until a few years ago when I started using oil, it never grew much past my shoulders. I don't do the whole wet your hair with oil and leave it overnight wrap, I just put a very small amount of oil through my hair and wear it that way. I also use this same combination of oil on my face. It is really amazing!
Started and will keep updating 🌸 2/23/22 didn’t wash my hair, and on the sixth day I washed it. It was oily but it wasn’t as bad looking as I thought it would be.🤭 I kept brushing my hair, so the oils from my scalp went down. - I washed it today with water, and at the end I put fenugreek water (methi seeds in Hindi) and washed it out. Its supposed to help grow out hair. I noticed as I was washing with water my hair felt very sticky😳Its not used to me washing without shampoo #SCAMPOO!! I am noticing tho that a lot of my dandruff can be seen though.. My hair looks kind of stringy, and oily no matter how much I brush it. The volume isn’t really there.. but I’ll keep going 🥹 Next wash will be a Apple Cider Vinegar rinse 🚿
I’m totally going to try and ween off of the poo. My hair stylist tells me to wash my hair as minimum as possible, once a week or less if I can. She’s the opposite of what you say most will tell you.
And my hair stylist told me to shampoo my hair twice a day, use conditioner on my sensitive scalp, told me to switch to her shampoo which contains All of the chemicals & alcohol when i told her my scalp is itchy & sensitive..
@@nurulabdullah90 that is way too much. You will make your scalp dry and itchy because you are washing all the needed oils off. You will cause. Too much build up on the roots using conditioner on your scalp.
i wish u can teach her that. she's not listening to me even when i told her i got sensitive scalp. she told me nope, my scalp just oily & got some dandruff & promote me to use the full chemicals shampoo she sold..
now i'm trying no poo but just on 22 days. but feels like my hair lost the volume (or is it thinning?) & scalp still itchy. should i keep on going or back to shampoo? hair also just feels the same when i used shampoo, bit rough. i don't know what to do now..
As a person struggling with the hair issues of pcos It’s nice to hear from someone else who has similar issues. My hair has been falling out really really badly. I just got this book by Dr Felice Gersh called pcos sos. So far it’s very informative! I also want to try soap nuts\berries.
Do! Try the ancient Indian hair washing using three herbs/fruits....Reetha (soapnuts), amla (gooseberry) and shikakai (acacia). Buy them as pods or else the powder. I got them here in Ireland from an Indian friend who brought them back for me, made a paste and left it in the hair for an hour. It's the softest and shiniest it's ever been in 15 years.
@@janinedear-barlow3803 Not everyone had access to it and it wasn't ideal for hair wash. Ancient soap was a mixture of animal fat/vegetable oil and ashes.
@@janinedear-barlow3803 It wasn't so freely available like today and it was a tedious process to mass produce such soaps. But we are talking about shampoos here for hairwash.
I tried no poo and my hair looked voluminous…., but then I had someone run their hand through my hair and say it feels oily :( it made me feel insecure even though I know my natural oils are evenly spreaded out throughout my strands…. So I stopped and used regular shampoo….. and regular shampoo makes my hair so so flat, dry and ugly :///// so I’m going back to no poo again, my hair felt soft and had a lot of volume and bounce

When my hair gets greasy it starts to fall. So i'd rather use a bio shampoo. Also,if i wouldn't use good conditioner and leave in conditioner my hair would tangle.
I use macadamia oil, baobab oil and almond oil mixed together and put it on the lengths and ends and leave it on. It is light and soaks in well. Better than conditioner.
Use amla, reetha and shikakai powder to wash ur haie.. its NO POO, and it is really good for hair growth I hv been using it since 10 days or less may be.. and I am enjoying this process too :)
All of those peoples who want healthier hair here is my experience- I train my hair to shampoo once a month and two days now. I was shampooing my hair every day.... then I wanted to save money and I just stopt using shampoo this much. it's been 1 and half year. just train your hair dont go from nothing to shampoo once a year😆. now I rince my hair only with water once a week, and then shampoo one a month. now my hair is so shiny ✨ and healthy. I love it, please try it, try to avoid shampoo.
It sounds great but I have so many questions: What do you do if you go to the hairdresser, do you just tell them not to use shampoo? Are you not supposed to use any type of hair products once you've started this? (e.g. hair oil, hairspray, etc.) What about if you colour your hair with non-natural hair dyes, does this influence it?
The past few times I've been to the hairdressers I've asked them not to wash my hair, just cut it. Or spray water on it and cut if that's easier for them! It's usually cheaper for me and I don't have to be there for as long. I read this article before finding this vid - waleandme.com/water-only-hair-washing/ - might be helpful if people are thinking of only using water to wash their hair :) I found it very insightful! I think when you've gone without shampoo long enough, you won't need to use hair oil on your hair because the natural oils will condition your hair for you. Although in the article I've linked she mentions putting hair oil on her ends only (at least I think she did...).
As I Am cowash has been brilliant on my low porosity 2b hair. Washing it onve a week, I use it once scrubbing it in like a shampoo, then rinse it out, then put more on my hair again & leave it in whilst I shower, like a conditioner. I don't use any other hair products at all, just a cotton tea-shirt to dry it, then shake me head & let it air dry & that's it. Gives me lovely wavey curls. Sometimes if my ends get dry, I'll brush it with a boar bristle brush before I go to bed. And I use a satin pillow case to stop my hair getting roughed up & broken.
I went several months without shampoo and it was wonderful! For some reason, I used shampoo on a whim and it reset everything. Trying again starting today.
I will say, vinegar is acidic and baking soda is alkaline, and shampoos tend to be acidic while soap tends to be slightly more alkaline. so it's probably generally better for your scalp and hair chemistry to use acv over baking soda.
What if I work out everyday? Is it okay to rinse my head with water everyday? Or just towel dry my head after gym? I wash my hair (with herbal hair rinse) twice a week but on other days I'm confused in whether to rinse my head with water or not.
When I used to dye my hair crazy colours I decided to wash my hair less frequently so the dye wouldn’t wash out as fast. I managed to work it to about once a fortnight. I then went back to my “normal” colour. And continued with the process of washing my hair less frequently. Working my way to approx once a month to 6 weeks. I usually trim my hair every 3 months to get rid of the bleached left overs. I’ve noticed in that time I have far less hair loss both when brushing or washing, less split ends, less greasy (some days a bit oilier than others but it often clears after a day or so) and it’s growing much quicker. I also upped my omega 3’s and cut out seed oils which helps with psoriasis and perspiration. Sadly the shampoo I was using was still store bought. My last hair wash was 10 weeks ago, and my hair has become even stronger still. Brushing takes less than a minute (I have waist length very thick hair) and it looks super shiny. I still have some split ends to trim out. I’d say that introducing egg yolks and increasing butter and fish has been a huge help. The psoriasis is still there as there are some plant foods I still eat that trigger it, but it is no longer problematic like it used to be. Good luck with your hair and pcos journey. Your hair looks fab here.
Someone may have already mentioned this… 2 things can cause the “weird cowlick” in the back - 1. The way you sleep and 2. Whether or not your head touches the headrest in your car. The 2nd one gets a friend of mine all the time… I now fluff up that spot every time she gets out of the car.
I’ve recently extended the time I shampoo my hair and my hair doesn’t get as greasy as fast anymore and will continue to extend the time until the shampoo is gone because I have been interested in doing the no poo method
Mh...I'm in hairdressing school and I've worked in a hair salon..No one tells so you have to shampoo or that if you don use it your hair is gonna fall out...We use shampoo to prepare the hair to style it...If you want to perm your hair, there's a specific shampoo etc...You don't need shampoo, warm water is enough to cleanse tour hair...Shampoo it's just an extra, not essential
Use cinnamon water :) boil a cup a water with a table spoon of pepper. Then pour the water through a strainer in witch a table spoon of cinnamon is :) massage this water on scalp everyday.
I have scalp eczema and most shampoos trigger it because of the amount of oils in it and fragrances, which is why I'm thinking of no-poo, however it still seems like a foreign idea to me and I've seen some people say it made their scalp way oilier, and I already have a very oily scalp and because of my scalp condition I have to regularly make sure there's no oil built up or dead skin built up on my scalp, so I'm not sure if this would work for me ;( I have tried washing my hair once a week, did that for 2+ months and it did help a LITTLE with oiliness but still the max amount I can handle it 2 days without washing my scalp because my scalp is naturally oily, however I did read that charcoal is great for scalp eczema AND the medical shampoo they gave me made my scalp irritated and the thing that actually helped my scabs on my scalp go away was a DIY flaxseed gel hair mask which my doctor was shocked about seeing how much my scalp had improved! So I might do it :) I also recently found out I had pcos and that explains my hairloss of 4 years and currently having bald spots at 19, which is why anything to do with my hair scares me, but I'll do more research and it's nice knowing you also have pcos~ thank you for the video!
This is my secret cold water and with a plastic combs I massage my scalp with one hand and the other hand I brush my hair with the comb ….and after shower I add a little bit of Castor oil , and myrrh oil my hair look super and smooth, no smell whatsoever , it’s has been 20 days since I stared this no poo journey, but the method I’m using I’m love it ….. I don’t think I ever need poo again to be honest, not even missing it one bit
I don’t wash my hair and it looks fine and I’m 80, my brother three years younger than me has a bath every night and shampoos his hair has got hardly a hair on his head of course may be hereditary, just a thought.
When people think no shampoo people will immediately think it means no washing but no poo means just no shampoo, there is still water washing and other type of soap to use better for the hair
I didn't read the other comments, but there are different Native American herbs that can be used to grow hair healthy and fast. It made this girl's hair grow 2in. a month. Good luck
I keep having a huge build up of sebum??? I feel like I was seeing a lot of hair growth, but now I feel like at least on the very top of my head it's thinner?? I feel at a lost. My hair was looking amazing. I don't know where I went wrong?? I know too much sebum and it clogs your hair follicles, causing hair loss. This made me do a scalp scrub, which is probably where I went wrong. Going to start ALL OVER AGAIN. Using this completely all natural shampoo and conditioner to get whatever might've been on the scalp scrub stuff I used (it claimed to be all natural)... Then start all over again. Still unclear on how often just water washes should be done too.
Hey, try researching rhassoul clay. It removes impurities but is not as damaging as scrubbing your hair. It also counts as no poo! So it won't set you back either ~
@@SusiQf Mine is called 'Innovative Naturopathics' but I think any are ok, mine was just the cheapest 500g bag on Amazon. Buy what you think is best, as long as it says that it's 100% clay it should be fine. Also, keep the clay wet on your head and don't let it dry because this can dry out your hair. Maybe add a little apple cider vinegar to neutralise the PH of the clay so it is closer to your hair's natural PH. Hope this helps ~
I simply massage with coconut oil and rinse it with normal water , i last washed my hair 6 days ago ..n i m up with the experiment ,it takes time to adjust and i am ready to work on it
I'm just starting with no shampoo, but I'm using acv with peppermint and rosemary essential oils to wash over my hair as I read they were good for hair growth. There are light machines to increase hair growth but haven't tried myself.
I really want to switch to a "no poo" hair care plan, but I'll probably have to wait until the summer. But one question, what do you tell the hairstylist when you get a hair cut? Like, do they just not wash your hair or do they only wet it?
They can only wet it. Usually wahing it costs more. So just by wetting it you waste less water and you'll have some extra coins for beer with a friend.
They can spray it with a spray bottle to wet it. But my mum is a hairdresser so she does mine. Never been in a hairdresser to have my hair cut. I am a hairdresser so I do the rest of my family as well.
That's the reason why I don't go to salons at all 😂 I'm growing my hair currently so I'm not cutting it but the next time I'm gonna cut it, I'll cut it myself.
The test will be me asking my 70 year old mother who went to cosmetology school when she was in her 20's ish what she thinks because I'm actually going to consider doing this. I'll come back after I go over this with her. 🤞 My doctors really did tell me that the rogaine does work but they only work for as long as you're using it.... As soon as you stop using it the growth stops.
I have curly hair, and try baking soda Ii realized that it made my hair lost the curly in a bad way so I stop using baking soda I am using now aleppo soap and it is really good for my hair but using apple cider vinegar after the soap my hair has never been in a better way!!
It depends on your genetics. Shampoo has its purpose, and it does its thing. People like myself use it among other products for a reason. Especially considering the fact that my skin and hormones are more harsh on my odor and oil production than yours probably are. For example maybe your naturally soft, my skin is not, my hide is thick, tough and rough to the touch so extra lotion is essential for me if my girl wants to hold hands with me.

@@enisetalksaboutit I cut down to washing mine once a month, now I don't get greasy hair at all. I have now started washing it every two to three weeks because of dirt build up. I have got a natural recipe for for natural soap so I am going to try that soon and see if it's better for washing hair.
I stil debate about that ph.. I think generally baking soda no matter how diluted is still too crazy of a ph for hair.. glad it’s working for you but I know many where long term baking soda really messes up the texture and ph of your hair/scalp.. glad to find your channel though!
This philosophy works with so many beauty products. People will find all kinds of ways to convince you to use their products. It was the same with cigarettes. They had studies on how cigarettes weren't bad etc. Daily sunscreen especially seems like a risky one. It's a pretty heavy chemical cocktail and we know you absorb and pee out these chemicals but we have no clue what interactions they have in your body. Also the sun is getting demonized in general. Slowly tanning without sunburns is completely fine. You should use sunscreen to avoid sunburns but again just slowly tanning and going out of the sun in time is even better.
Coffee stimulates hair growth! You can use coffee with Hanna and you can get 2 things done at once :) also iron.. I upped my iron intake and I stopped the thinning and shedding. Thanks for this video!
I only do bakinh soda and acv once a month. Warm water and a good scrub is all your head needs. A famous hair youtuber let that slip in one of his vids. He was talking about suds in shampoo and how they dont do anythjng. He mentioned that really just water is all you need.
I stuck it out for a month a half and the quality of my hair improved drastically but it was still very oily. Due to having a busy work and social life I was really struggling and it was really knocking back my confidence so I did give up. I am hoping to go back to it soon and try some different things to try and remove the oil.
My scalp gets really irritated and painfull when i don't wash my hair for a while. My hair also gets pretty nasty. I'm glad it works for you, just not for me
You have to rinse your hair. You dont NOT wet it EVER. The water pulls the sebum down the hair strands a stimulates the scalp to eject sebum from the hair follicle.
Option A: Wash your hair with water only at the same frequency you used to shampoo it. Option B: Wean your hair off shampoo by using progressively less.
Your hair will get better. I wash my hair once a month with baby shampoo. I don't use water inbetween but it does so you scalp being sore from tying it up.
I am trying to eat a cleaner diet, way more fruit and vegetables and less meat, no dairy. Apparently it can help hair growth in addition to just being healthier. Hoping it helps calm down my 'issues ' 😆💞🌟 it does help many people so I'm optimistic lol! Good video.
Take hair vitimins that are actually filled with lots of vitamins, not the ones that have mostly biotin. And then get fish oil supplements. I did a test years ago with my hair in terms on growth based on what ibwas taking. I found that the hair vitamins by themselves didnt show much result. And i also noticed fish oil was something not included in the vitamins. So at one time i tested them with fish oil and my hair grew legitimately an inch in a week. And then of course i tested fish oil by itself and again, same normal results. So again just take hair vitamins that have lots of vitamins and dont just claim to have a shit ton of biotin, and then take fish oil with it. And viola, increased hair growth speed. Basically you just keed a balanced nutrition. Most people probably arent chowing down on fish for dinner on the regular lol
By the way, your natural oils not only aren't dirt, but also they make it easier to remove dirt from the hair.
How? It sticks to grease
And thank you ♥️
@JessikaEmerald the transition was.. horrible. But once my hair got used to it, it was SO easy to clean 😁

Have a look at Green Beauty channel. I am having a go at washing my hair with Rhassoul and Kaolin clay. The video on it explains the science of how clean hair and scalp, by removing toxins and balances the positive and negative charge energy from the hair and scalp.
I lovee coconut milk for the hair! I leave it in once a week for 20 mins inbetween using rice water 2 days a week!✨
One never seen bar soap for hair before and coconut smells musty from where i from
For self reference:
· Quarter cup of baking soda diluted in a gallon of water
· Quarter cup of apple cider vinegar diluted in a gallon of water
I have heard baking soda can really damage your hair. I would recommend just sticking to apple cider vinegar, you can also use regular vinegar too.
@@mia_ash baking soda made my hair very weak and it started falling off big time after 2 years, so be careful. baking soda is actually too alkaline for the scalp.

Try the Moroccan clay too or cidr pouder

when you massage your scalp then smell your fingers, does it smell good? sorry if this sounded rude
ror ror 😂😂 I guess it smells like hair is supposed to smell. Pretty much like nothing.
then why my hair is nasty!! even though i eat clean :( it's really disgusting
ror ror Cant say without knowing your routine.
Sarah Bee thank you for replying
I’ve gotta say, this is the first video on this topic that I’ve seen, where the girls hair actually looks nice and healthy and not greasy. This method truly does work for you.
@bruno alencar still going bud?
As someone who lives in the ocean and always had salty and wet hair I couldn’t keep shampooing. It was drying out my hair. The only thing I put is oils or conditioners before I go in the beach. Then I rinse it out and that’s it. My hair is long healthy and strong. No issues and never oily.
Why you put oils or conditioner before going to sea?
@@petrospetromixos6962because salt can be drying have you never swam in the ocean?

Me too, no regrets
Wow! Thanks 😊
Since I've done the whole nopoo process my hair has gotten curlier! I'm loving it! I just got to the stage where the ends of my hair aren't oily anymore. This has been the best decision I've made in a long time. I've notice less falling out as well. Losing weight is so freaking hard!!! But anyways loving my new nopoo hair!!! 😜 Good luck with everything chick!

*Latest edit July 28*
*About me :*
I am an asian and people says that my hair is thick.
• *Edit April 20 :*
I did my first water only wash on April 18 because I'm trying to follow my usual schedule which is a wash every 2 days.
No sign of over grease so far 😄
• *Edit April 30 :*
It's been two weeks already! 😊
• *Edit May 11 :*
I washed my hair with baking soda and water yesterday. It reduced a lot of the grease. But I read that using baking soda for a long period of time might harm the scalp because the difference in the pH level. So I'm planning to wash my hair with baking soda and water maybe once in 3 weeks or once in a month.
• *Edit June 3 :*
I almost washed my hair with shampoo because of a certain condition.
• *Edit July 28:*
It's been a while, huh?

You're absolutely right, your hair most certainly "looks pretty good". Possibly even better than that.
That's probably the reason there is more hair than scalp. It's not good to over brush your hair. It causes damage.
Hahahahaaaa! 😂
😂😂😂 love it!
Marcia Brady did that
Haven't washed my hair with shampoo in over two months. My scalp problem cleared up for the most part, but my hair is super oily. When I run my hands through my hair, I can feel the oil on my fingers. Besides that, people have been complimenting me on my hair.
Still going strong ?
I seen someone say that if you wash it too soon it gets oily. So like if you’re washing it twice a week it has a higher chance of being oily than once a week. Everyone is different.
Your voice is so soothing it’s so authentic and lovely to watch! Also dropping some chronic illness realness and your hair is beautiful 🖤
I love your tip about the conditioner and ACV, thanks!
You are so nice to look at. You hair looks amazing.
I've started the no poo lifestyle 15 days ago and I love it💚 I think you can try the rice water method for the hair growth💚
Nothing affects hair growth other than hormones and physical morphing to the actual holes in your scalp. I can accept the idea that something like rice water affects hair, but not actual hair growth.
@@walkingcorpse1224actually a study released this year (2023) has now shown that peppermint oil applied topically increases head hair growth 😊
Omg. Lol...its been way too long)
Thank youbfir this video. Your hair is beautiful. Shampoo is a lie.

Castor oil for hair growth, applied at the scalp and massaged in. And make sure your diet is supporting healthy hair growth!
I try no shampoo about two months ago, I just wash with water everyday, my hair now become healthier, and stop falling compare to before.
Girl tell me about those PCOS struggles... I got it too.. XD PCOS makes my hair frizzy.. Along with other things.. :(
You can probably use Jamaican Black Castor Oil to help your hair grow alittle.
I might try that myself. Thank you.

I’m totally going to try and ween off of the poo. My hair stylist tells me to wash my hair as minimum as possible, once a week or less if I can. She’s the opposite of what you say most will tell you.
She is right, I would tell my clients the same.

All of those peoples who want healthier hair here is my experience-
I train my hair to shampoo once a month and two days now.
It sounds great but I have so many questions:
What do you do if you go to the hairdresser, do you just tell them not to use shampoo?
Are you not supposed to use any type of hair products once you've started this? (e.g. hair oil, hairspray, etc.)
What about if you colour your hair with non-natural hair dyes, does this influence it?

Your hair looks amazing and you're beautiful! Thanks for the informative video 💖
Would love to see the "natural" curly hair styles.
Your hair looks so beautiful
Yaay the no poo update!!! I’m so glad to see a update on this and I might try it again 👍🏼
I went several months without shampoo and it was wonderful! For some reason, I used shampoo on a whim and it reset everything. Trying again starting today.
How did it go ?
@@Clleonie I didn't last a week. Itchy, flaky, I couldn't stand it any longer.
@@mikepaquette153 I'm on day three and about to give up. I usually have to wash my hair daily 😭😭
@@mikepaquette153 p.s thanks for your reply ! I just realised your comment was a year old.
best hair on a woman i've ever seen and its genuine since you're not pushing any products
Thank you. It really helped. I spent a lot on shampoos, ordering them from other countries. Now i ll save my hair and money👍🥰.
It’s also good for the nature beacouse you don’t use palm oils and that stuff that kills the forests❤️
I add glycerin, castor or olive oil and honey to my baking soda paste.
@@popanstar What brand do you recommend? So many to choose from.
@@popanstar Helped a bunch, thanks so much for all the help and info!!
Got the same problem=hard water.............
Your hair colour and dress colour looks sensational
Please make a video on any progress on PCOS and what helped you. It's really stressful dealing with PCOS.
I simply massage with coconut oil and rinse it with normal water , i last washed my hair 6 days ago ..n i m up with the experiment ,it takes time to adjust and i am ready to work on it
Have you ever try fermented rice water or aloe vera gel? Red onion juice stimulates hair growth on your scalp.
I'm just starting with no shampoo, but I'm using acv with peppermint and rosemary essential oils to wash over my hair as I read they were good for hair growth. There are light machines to increase hair growth but haven't tried myself.
Just use water.....
If you want to really clean it use Hot water
Your hair looks amazing. Did it start to get darker and darker after each henna application?
The test will be me asking my 70 year old mother who went to cosmetology school when she was in her 20's ish what she thinks because I'm actually going to consider doing this. I'll come back after I go over this with her. 🤞
My doctors really did tell me that the rogaine does work but they only work for as long as you're using it.... As soon as you stop using it the growth stops.
What's a good henna product? My hair is about 4ft long, dirty blonde, I've never dyed it. Yours looks fantastic
i actually try to only shampoo once a week, my hair is so soft using only conditioner on the ends.
I have such a scratchy head, and I wash my hair every other day, I’m so sick of it, so I’m going to give this a try. Again.
I have curly hair, and try baking soda Ii realized that it made my hair lost the curly in a bad way so I stop using baking soda I am using now aleppo soap and it is really good for my hair but using apple cider vinegar after the soap my hair has never been in a better way!!
Baking soda is bad for hair as it strips it
It depends on your genetics.
Me: I haven't shampooed my pubic hair since birth.
Ew do you even clean down there
breanna kay they may shave it frequently for health reasons
oui wee
sounds like they have pubic hair Bc they said they haven’t cleaned their hair which means they have hair to begin with

I don't wash mine that often either.. One thing I love 2 do is collect rainwater 2 wash my hair N
Acid rain
all the polution in the air goes up to the clouds and ish thats nasty .... i would test it wi a water tester first before i do that ... i prefer washing my hair with a very light shampoo with no parabens and Sulphates only along my hairline by my face with a small drop off shampoo and another small drop on my middle path ...once a week and i wash for about 20 seconds i really count then i rinse it out and the shampoo that is rinsed out can take a very little amout of the oils on the rest of my strands away ... I have curly slash wavy hair so it is super dry ... before i new anything about anything about hair i used to wash it every 2nd day and it distroyed my hair ... i had to trim it so often that my hair never got a chance to grow...and ontop of it i did alot of high light and bleaching and i knew nothing about coconut home treatment ...thanks to youtube iknow soooooo much about my hair and it looks so amazing right now ..i cut short last year to give myself a fresh start to get ride of all that dead hair ... so my hair can grow healthy and stong from the start i cut off about 6 inches :( but my hair is just hanging over my shoulders today... It will grow back with time ... i will be patient ... in a few months it will be about bra length :) then end of the year back to where it was before i made two pony tales and i copped it off infront of my mirror lol ...no regrets .. its soooo helathy ..healthier than its ever been ...disclaimer ... moms a hair dresser so she obviously cut it start for me ..poor mom drove 3 hours to come fix me hairs ...what a mom wouldnt do for you _♡ such love ... so now i do hair masks as in self naturally made not that stuff uyou buy at the market which we dont really know what is inside ... ? i love love love coconut oil and castor oil and olive oil and tea tree oil _♡ ... love watching your videos _♡♡ mwa

@@enisetalksaboutit I cut down to washing mine once a month, now I don't get greasy hair at all. I have now started washing it every two to three weeks because of dirt build up. I have got a natural recipe for for natural soap so I am going to try that soon and see if it's better for washing hair.
@@enisetalksaboutit bicarb is bad for hair as it is damaging and also the wrong pH level. Cider vinegar does not clean hair.
I stil debate about that ph.. I think generally baking soda no matter how diluted is still too crazy of a ph for hair.. glad it’s working for you but I know many where long term baking soda really messes up the texture and ph of your hair/scalp.. glad to find your channel though!
"pretty good" is a understatement.
Yes but doesn’t tanning make you age faster?
Maybe I should get my rasta back and never ever wash again. I'm confused :D
Your hair looks gorgeous and so healthy. Thank you for sharing. :)
Ever since quarantine started I’ve washed my hair less and less
Coffee stimulates hair growth! You can use coffee with Hanna and you can get 2 things done at once :) also iron.. I upped my iron intake and I stopped the thinning and shedding. Thanks for this video!
Maggie May yup you definitely can ! In fact where I come from it’s a regular/recommended to mix the two together :)
I only do bakinh soda and acv once a month. Warm water and a good scrub is all your head needs. A famous hair youtuber let that slip in one of his vids. He was talking about suds in shampoo and how they dont do anythjng. He mentioned that really just water is all you need.
Just started no poo. I'm 5 days in and I'm really struggling my hair is all stuck together with oil. But I guess it's all a ought persistence.
I'm right there with you!! Yuk! Haha!! :)))
Kezia Perry good luck guys 🙌🏽
Four days into it.
It's been a few months, would you mind updating?
I stuck it out for a month a half and the quality of my hair improved drastically but it was still very oily. Due to having a busy work and social life I was really struggling and it was really knocking back my confidence so I did give up. I am hoping to go back to it soon and try some different things to try and remove the oil.
Try a few drops of rosemary oil in your vinegar rinse, it will help your hair grow
Rosemary infused olive oil and rosemary essential oil or peppermint stimulates hair growth
My scalp gets really irritated and painfull when i don't wash my hair for a while. My hair also gets pretty nasty. I'm glad it works for you, just not for me
》Tessa 《 does it get sensitive after being in a ponytail?
the increased sebum will make your hair follicles hurt badly at first, but it does go away.
Good video.
I love your videos! I also henna regularly and just started no-poo based on how easy you made it sound! Love the update, thank you!
Crunchy Mama do you still use conditioner??? Or just no shampoo??? I wanna try it as well...
Crunchy Mama also my hair it really curly so I use gel. Will the no poo still work well as shampoo replacement?
I don't but I do a deep condition about once a month. So far I'm loving it - my hair is so healthy!
I'm not sure, I have poker straight hair, sorry!
I have wavy to curly hair. I do not use gel - don't need to. I've been no-poo for five to six years.
Thank you for this I'm getting on the henna and shampoo free train. Also I've heard a lot that a keto diet helps a lot with PCOS.
