Yup I was once a full Disneyland Addict. Now I try my best not to give them even a dime of my money. Such a loss. Feels similar to the loss of my grandpa. But I can't deny it. Disneyland is dead. There is no reason to ever go back.
*sigh* I lived for years across from a prairie dog town. We had kids too. Every so often, the birds would fly down, and fly off with a 'lunch sack'. Blind kids to the possibility of these things and they'll be shocked when the same birds fly down and make a lunch of their puppy (which yes, was also possible - the birds don't discriminate between dog breeds, prairie or otherwise).
2005 was the apex of Disneyland. I went on a semi weekly basis from 2009-2019. So many times in fact I stopped caring to count. Anyways, nothing even comes close to 2005-2008 Disneyland.
I actually like the bride change. Their "moral" reason for change is ridiculous. Story wise, I like it. Plus it looks good. Not a fan of them switching out the peppers ghost hitchhikers for projections at all.
The Iger Comp. Will ONLY blame the public. It’s always. “Our’ fault, “WE “ don’t understand. I have the opinion that 2 Showers Bobby will seek to have a deal like in Tokyo. Disney will be the “IP LICENSE” to make money while others RUN the parks.
So they take one of the few things that still works, and are going to "upgrade it for the modern audience" ... This is truly like seeing your drunk uncle decide to drive back home after the family feast HE WAS NOT INVITED TOO!
Someone should produce a plush Bluebird that clips to one's shoulder and people should wear them en masse to Disney Parks. Just to P.O. Iger the Terrible.
They really missed the ball with that one. Had they had the same type of imagination that Epic has now, they would have kept Splash the same and had those out YEARS ago. They would have made a mint.
I wouldn’t call this being “woke.” I call this “dumbing down.” Woke specifically suggests correcting oppression of a marginalized group. Axe murderers aren’t a marginalized group. I agree that I hate this dumbing down, but let’s be precise in what this is.
What’s really funny is how in the 70s, Disney was disparaged by young people for being too safe and cutesy. For a long time, it was such a joke how tame Disney was/is and now for the sake of progressivism, they’re leaning INTO that. It’s so odd.
Disney needs to stick with the vision of their founder, Walt Disney. Leaving rides as historic as possible has always been the way to go imo. I am not happy that someone's sensitivity is being made to be my issue. We all have things we don't like, but it's NOT the worlds job to make things easier. As an entertainment business, they have 1 job. They need to keep focus.
It was still pretty great in 2008 the last time I went. We got to ride everything and see everything at the end of the fast pass. I can't say how fast it went down after that but 2008 was great.
People are NOT the sensitive snowflakes that the media overlords think they are. We can take, and even prefer, the edge that is present in the older media.
One thing I'm not big on, was replacing the Hitch hiking ghosts with the new digital version. The original was a practical effect, and little went wrong with it. The new digital HHGs, may show that Disney is making the classic more high tech, but as we've seen with a lot of digital effects, is that they seem to malfunction a lot. All that high tech "razzle dazzle", has played a big part in why so much of that ride, isn't working.
Disney is like a candle. 🕯️ You light it and it illuminates the magic. ✨ In time, the wax will run down and overwhelm that magic until it dies out. Disney is but a cherished memory and since then…my wallet has been fat. Progression is change, but change isn’t always progression.
Zeppetty doo dah. I love that song. I even sing it when I'm like, meditating or when I'm cooking, or when I'm even creating toys. But yeah, this is. definitely a dramatic change for everyone. It was a part of our generation. And if my mother's favorite. we all love the song and I enjoyed it. I'd rather sing Seeing it, then small world.
There used to be a day when Disney could do no wrong when adding a new attraction - unfortunately DIsney has made most of their moves as "Minusing" and under the guise of Stories Matter. Tiana's has be come the pinnacle of the lack luster collection of achievements. Perhaps reopening the Polynesian Terrace as a bar was Disney's greatest achievement on the westside of Disneyland since the addition of Indiana Jones.
Sooo. Mickey's not so scary haunted mansion? It's a haunted mansion, not a safe space! It was already "Disney" haunted, to begin with. If you're too sensitive to see stuff in an attraction, don't go on it. It's almost as if these people WANT to be offended. Lest they find another way to justify their jobs. Story, apparently, DOESN'T matter.
This is why the “culture war” language is so necessary, as much as people are turned off by the term. The people making these changes to the parks come from a culture, and are trying to get all of us to adjust, accept, or adopt a culture, that tells them that these ARE some of the most important changes the can make to the parks. To them, these are IMPROVEMENTS. We say, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it (especially if it cost so much money you could be spending on more important things).” But to them these ARE very broken things desperately in need of fixing. “In accord with ‘modern sensibilities’” doesn’t mean “according to a new fad” it means “in accord with the new moral standards were trying to impose upon your culture to replace your old, outdated, racist, sexist, bigoted ‘morality’.”
Exactly. This is why I even bash the Indian scene censorship in Peter Pan. The only people offended by the Indians were the Iunes in the StoriesMatter office not indigenous people.
I said it on the TPP video. I am glad they swapped the bride. I *hated* Constance, and prior to the closures of 2020 was the only change I could confidently say I hated in my entire time visiting Disney Parks. (Not going to touch after 2020, that is an entirely different story.) Something I want to point out about intersectionality. The whole point is to say things such as, a lesbian has similar experiences to a racial minority and therefore may speak on their behalf. It is racism, sexism and every other ism plain and simple. But, it grants the people at Disney the power to speak on behalf of just about any group, and by extension to impose their views upon them, even if that group doesn't want them. Even worse, it grants them a scape goat to *any* criticism by putting the blame on a nonexistent group of offended people. *That* is how the story matters group operates, that is why they continue to change things as they see fit. (That is also a core point to DEI. Hire every minority and have them "speak on behalf of" all others. But, of course, they only hire the ones who think the way they do. It's only diversity until a minority is also conservative...)
If Haunted Mansion goes the way of the Dodo like Pirates and Splash, there literally is no reason to ever go back to a Disney Park. They would have killed all of their masterpiece West side attractions. It's over for good. Even with a new CEO.
I’m just waiting for Disney’s stories matter group to realize that “ it’s a small world is the most racist ride ever portraying stereotypical costumes and facial features to say “ that’s what they look like there!” And on top of it the “ dolls” are all children. Exploitation of children Disney?!?! Really?!?! This ride needs to go. If Splash had to go, so does Small World.
This bride has always been the more terrifying one for me. As a kid, I would dread the buggy stopping in front of it lol That bearing heart, man. On another note.. Disney should just sell Zip A Dee Doo Da to Universal if they’re not gonna use it… lol
6:05 LMAO Without even knowing anything about this ride, as soon as I heard "Female Villain is now Female Tragic Victim" i knew it had nothing to do with a return to form. I literally said out loud "Even when Disney returns to form, they stay on their same old woke brand"
Sorry, but no, returning the Haunted Mansion to its original story isn't going woke (whatever that means). Prior to 2006 there was no Constance Hatchaway storyline. The Imagineers at that time took liberty from the "grieving widow" stretching portrait to shoehorn in a storyline that never felt right. The current Imagineers are returning the Mansion to its origins.
Aren't you glad Disney isn't in charge of the Grand Canyon or the Rockies? Wonder what changes to change their do to these Natural Wonders. Maybe paint them 🌈?
Don't worry the lune in charge of the national parks put out an initiative to let everyone know national parks are not incIusive enough for POC, because of too many wyte visitors. I'm not kidding either.
Given how badly they've been dumping all over men and empowering women, I'm surprised they'd even want to make a change like this. Can't say I'm complaining though, since I liked it better the way it was before they made her an axe murderer. Although I would like it better if it was the original version, whose face couldn't be seen, except for her glowing eyes. Also, I really hope they don't remove the hanging corpse.
I have wanted to go back to Disneyland for some many years but the way things are being done there now I have lost all desire. They spent a year updating the exterior grounds and it is a hot mess.
I like the new bride -- the throw back to the original with the spooky heart beat is fantastic! Having the husbands die of unknown causes allows the guests to fill the stories anyway we'd like. The hanging man could be re-imagined in a better way. Right now we see the hanging figure, but then we hear an alive voice falling and hitting the floor -- kind of strange... wasn't he dead already or no? Having a figure slip (or was he pushed?!) from above and then playing the falling audio would be a beneficial change full of mystery and leaving an open story. That's a plus. In short, it depends on how it's implemented.
I'm guessing the reason the Imagineers are not up to the level of quality they once were is DEI (Didn't Earn It). I would guess that for some years they have been hiring individuals not for their abilities but to fill percentages in their list of what type of individual needs to be hired to fill quotas. I don't mind the change in the haunted mansion, but the last attic scene and theme didn't bother me because it's a Haunted Mansion and they should have weird, eerie, scary, and a "bit" gruesome (even if only in the sense of a head in a photo disappearing) things in it. This bride looks much better. I always thought the last bride looked very cheap, something a second rate amusement park would have. Oh wait, Disney is right that at that level now. The changes to attractions and parts of the park, so they don't offend a couple individuals, is ridiculous because they will never ever have 100% agreement with every guest that something is not offensive. That's how life is. You can NEVER make all of the people happy all of the time. I guess those running Disney have never heard or learned that. I'm offended that they got rid of the Bride Auction and the men chasing the women in the following scene and watered down those scenes on Pirates. Now we have Red promoting drinking rather than auctioning brides. I guess that's an even change so then why did they get rid of that other scene? There are several attractions that I could rip apart and point out things that could be considered offensive in Disneyland. I have one in the Haunted Mansion that I just noticed in the last ten years. After riding that ride multiple times each trip since the late 70's and multiple trips each year since the mid 80's it took me that long to see it. My guess is it was done intentionally but done in a way that it is not obvious. If I pointed it out, you would not unsee it. Maybe Disney needs to start making every ride with nothing but blank white walls and absolutely no scenery in them. That way they are completely sterile and have zero chance of offending anyone...
You have to be sensible...you can't trigger anyone...I'am so sick of that. I grow up in the 90s we had much more fun then, it was a rougher but also more honest time. Locks like fun or critique is not allowed today, anything that could be exciting have to be censored. Sure they won't stop, if they stop their job is no longer needed, i can't wait for that to happen.
I don't think violence should be normalized as entertainment, especially for children, so I agree with the HM bridge change. But I agree with all the other comments from the Pro panel.
To be honest, I don’t think these people actually understand what there job is. Sure changes are definitely necessary to help influence more people to come so they can buy merchandise and the company can build more attractions. However, their job isn’t to change stuff because a small percentage will not ride it because even if the change comes that small percentage won’t change and still not ride it, their job is to appeal to the majority of the people that can bring in money that can make investors happy. They are going down the Budlight controversy route and there’s nobody there that can turn it around. Changes are not supposed to be made with sensitivity in mind, changes are made to help make the guests have a better experience whether it’s adding something to an attraction, replacing or retheming an attraction, demolition a land to make a new one, and/or adding a land without destroying anything important. If those changes are done right it will plus up the experiences so they can bring in money and they can say to the investors that the people are enjoying the changes, but if the changes are done wrong it could end up like the Disneyland peoplemover or other changes in Disney parks that the companies think that the changes they make are better for the audience but in reality it’s better for themselves not the audience. Anyone of us can actually make a better story telling for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure than the woke DEI agenda people. One day at Tiana’s Palace a worker found a book that belongs to the shadow man which whoever touches it becomes partially possessed. According to the book the way to fix it is music otherwise if not cured by the most important day then they will be fully possessed. Tiana saw the book but then notices unusual things after she threw it out. So, she ask Louis to find a band to cure her but then goes into the forest to help him. However, the shadow man still wants to stop the adventure so they conjure up a vision of Mama Oddie but turn the people into frogs themselves. Then when mama oddie notices the frogs they change them back so they can take out the shadow man. Thats the story I think would better fit Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and also explains the awkward pauses.
Y’all…the change is good. While the agenda itself is a little cuckoo, the new bride is LIGHT YEARS better than the piece of crap we’ve had for the last decade. Constance Hatchway is NOT OG Haunted Mansion-and even if Disney wanted to go in that direction for a more “slasher/horror” atmosphere, it was GARBAGE. They stuck a blank mannequin body in there, threw a dress on, and used an elementary school projector to create an illusion with HORRID dialogue that made even the 999 cringe. You wanna make her scary? Use “The Nun” as inspiration for a murderous bride-or how about you try and replicate the creepy, blind-eyed, bloodthirsty bride that’s sold on your merchandise? I stand with you all, I think the REASON for the changes are bonkers-but if you are an OG fan, you gotta stop with all the Constance Hatchaway love. She was just straight awful.
If it ain’t broke….dont DEI it
If it ain’t broke….dont Retheme it

Yup I was once a full Disneyland Addict. Now I try my best not to give them even a dime of my money. Such a loss. Feels similar to the loss of my grandpa. But I can't deny it. Disneyland is dead. There is no reason to ever go back.
They will have to change the DL exterior since its mirrors a pIantation style mansion in the S0uth. It makes Iight of injustices or something.
Constance Hatchaway is a popular merchandise seller. She is prominently featured in the most recent movie. Mistakes were made.
I love the Peppers Ghost effect. Projections are quite lame.
@@andyp4770 imo, both can work on their own when it looks great, but yeah I like the Pepper's ghost effect hitch hiking ghosts
I will say I’m glad they went back to beating heart bride but I would’ve much preferred it to be a modern animatronic over a projection
Here's any idea for a DL reverb at haunted mansion, run screens of Skid Row LA and Kenningston Phila on backgroubd screens. Cheap and effective. Fact?
Modem audiences: Wait so the Haunted Mansion is a ride about scary ghosts?🤯
I know, Disney could remove all guns and swords from Pirates of the Caribbean and the pirates could talk people into giving up their treasure.
So they take one of the few things that still works, and are going to "upgrade it for the modern audience"
...
This is truly like seeing your drunk uncle decide to drive back home after the family feast HE WAS NOT INVITED TOO!
If I said once I’ve said it a million times…
BRING ON EPIC UNIVERSE!!
Take notes Universal and remember. Thanks for the video.
No pun intended, but it frightens me to think of what they’re gonna try to do to the ghost host and that’s my favorite part.
This is wild man. They might as well turn the entire park woke. Splash Mountain was just the beginning. RIP to one of the greatest rides ever made.
Somebody, ...not me because the Pervy Mouse gets none of my Cheddar, should play Ray Charles version on Trash Mountain and video it for a YT post.😂
What’s really funny is how in the 70s, Disney was disparaged by young people for being too safe and cutesy. For a long time, it was such a joke how tame Disney was/is and now for the sake of progressivism, they’re leaning INTO that. It’s so odd.
Excellent vlog. So tired of tip toeing through life, afraid of upsetting someone. Disney has totally lost their magic
They better not! This is how the park is losing money!
VashSky: It's "We cover the gamut," not "We cover the gambit". Just for future reference.
Not exactly. It depends on the context. Gambit is identified as sacrificing something for short term gain. Which all of this video seems to be.
Woke is a Joke and DEI is DE-AD
You light it and it illuminates the magic.
I long for the good old days. So many great memories and now unable to create more because I refuse to give them my money now.
HOW MUCH MONEY ARE YOU SPENDING CHANGING GHOSTS AND HANGING NOOSES, WHEN YOU SHOULD BE FIXING AND MAINTAINING THE PARKS ?
(Not going to touch after 2020, that is an entirely different story.)
Something I want to point out about intersectionality.
Why do people think something is going to change when the same people are there.
If Haunted Mansion goes the way of the Dodo like Pirates and Splash, there literally is no reason to ever go back to a Disney Park. They would have killed all of their masterpiece West side attractions. It's over for good. Even with a new CEO.
I wouldn’t mind an original bride concept if they made her a damn physical animatronic like the original bride WAS
I'm surprised they haven't changed the Ghost Host, because he's a white Plantation owner
And like everything has been doing, this sounds like dog 💩
Haunted Mansion was one of the few attractions I still wanted to see.
This bride has always been the more terrifying one for me. As a kid, I would dread the buggy stopping in front of it lol That bearing heart, man.
On another note.. Disney should just sell Zip A Dee Doo Da to Universal if they’re not gonna use it… lol
Once again Bob Iger is changing a Disney classic that modern Disney could never have created
6:05 LMAO Without even knowing anything about this ride, as soon as I heard "Female Villain is now Female Tragic Victim" i knew it had nothing to do with a return to form. I literally said out loud "Even when Disney returns to form, they stay on their same old woke brand"
Woke Iger Company Motto : "Less for More, More Twisted.
A De-Disney'd Disney.
If it triggers you don’t go on the ride!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sorry, but no, returning the Haunted Mansion to its original story isn't going woke (whatever that means). Prior to 2006 there was no Constance Hatchaway storyline. The Imagineers at that time took liberty from the "grieving widow" stretching portrait to shoehorn in a storyline that never felt right. The current Imagineers are returning the Mansion to its origins.
Kim Irvine does good work. She also worked on the Snow White Enchanted Wish attraction.
Always said if they screw with Haunted I’m done. Guess I’m done with Disneyland.
How would you rate the new bride
@@animezilla4486 8/10 from videos only -- I have yet to see it in person. I took away 2 points because she seems further back than normal.
The carriage house is mindboggling
The PMRC was the start. Now this. All the same people.
I don't think violence should be normalized as entertainment, especially for children, so I agree with the HM bridge change. But I agree with all the other comments from the Pro panel.
Ridiculous opinion. Turning everything into Mickey Mouse Club House is asinine. Are we getting rid of Pirates and Star Wars too? Not cool...
I have given up on my beloved Disney. I went to Disneyworld last year to say goodbye like visiting a dying relative. My heart is broken.😢
It's not looking good for Villains Land. How are they going to portray villains if they are scared of upsetting people?
I don’t care if they locked up the door of haunted mansion and threw away the key. Disney is dead.
Best time to visit a Disney park was in the 70s.
And the 90s !
80s were pretty dang good too. Early 90s weren't half bad either. But it's been going down hill since then...
They just need to raise their prices another 40%, that will fix everything.
