I guess it wouldn't be a comment board if everyone wasn't trash talking the guy who was nice enough to post a great video. I can't get enough of them Brookies and I can only hope to catch so many monsters EVER. Thanks for taking my mind off of my hectic day and getting me looking forward to my next day on the water.
What is most impressive here, besides the exceptional skill and incredible trout, is that the angler places the rod butt in his chest, and uses right hand crank on the reel. I would fish with this skilled angler any time. Great video!
Bravo. The season is almost upon us. its been a long hard winter. I am an Adirondack brook trout Fisher man only family, friends and my dog mean more to me. Good luck to all in this 2019 fishing season and may the black flys be easy on us
Brookie T's are my favorite fish too. I usually use a Sage SLT 4wt but at the time, i had just purchased the rod that's in this video. It's a Sage XP 6wt with a Sage reel.
Amazing. Nicely done, these guys are real pros....nice video, no obnoxious music or stupid commentary just catching trophy fish and handling them with care. very cool.
I think the 3rd fish in this vid is my favorite. Those bright orange/black/white fins and that white tip on the dorsal fin make that fish a wall mounter in my eyes.
Nice Brookies!! Biggest I've ever caught was about 1 to 1.5lbs in AR (N. Fork of the White) Try some barbless hooks or smash the barbs down. Much easier to release the fish and about 95% of the time you never have to touch it. Also, hook-ups will improve - think about this - much easier to drive a nail into wood than a wedge! Nice video - thanks for sharing!
Haha... tough crowd. I love how all these back seat fisherman throw their 2cents in. Do this, do that, it's not this, it's not that.... who care how much they weigh?! Completely not the point! Clearly posted "?" as well as "estimated" Fish handling is FAR better than most on UA-cam and weren't bad at all. Although not sure why you didn't use your stats considering I think I see them in the shot. Unless those were snips.... anyways... I haven't hit up Maine yet but it's definitely on the list! Beauty hog Brookies!
Thanks Wish!Everybody has an opinion that's for sure. I did try to handle the fish well but I was taking video that I wanted to post online, so I may have done things a bit different if I wasn't taking video. And some of those guys need to realize this is a blood sport. I try not to harm any animal but I love fishing and do understand some fish may die from me hooking them.
Oh I know all about it. Plenty of opinionated people out there. Your fish handling wasn't bad at all. Sure you could of done a little better but definitely no need for bashing like some of these people are ranting about.
DJ just came across this video and is an awesome spectacle. Never have I landed or hooked brookies this large. As far as negative and opinionated comments are concerned this is the social media age we live in...it is why I stopped posting and cancelled my page. Don't have time for BS...thanks for posting!
I love watching your videos and I think I also fish the same waters as you. Perhaps we will share a cold one on the banks. Am I correct that this river eventually flows into "C" lake.. (speaking in code here)
that is truly amazing I live in PA and I've been fishing for native Brook trout my whole life and the biggest native fish I ever caught was 17 inches but probably under 2 lbs. ... This video is amazing...I'm going to get my waders on and grab my rig
J Wayno A 17 inch wild brookie in PA? From a mountain stream or tributary of Lake Erie? Are you sure it wasn't a holdover? That would be on my wall. I have a 13 inch wild brookie on my wall now. It's the biggest I ever seen in PA. I'd 💩 my waders if I caught a 17 inch native in PA. Peace.
The way that theses fish are stack up makes me think this is somewhere in Canada . That may big fish . I seen 27' 29 inch Brooke's in a little pond in Damiscotta me .i had a friend that in the early 90s let a fish go that would have broke the state record 9 .7 oz .they could be spawning ? At the eastern outlet on mouse head lake on the dam .when I was a kid u could look down an in every lock see Brooke's ,landlocked salmon that size 8 to 10 detween 3 lds to 10 lbs .It was a awesom time for fishing .i like this guy he put them back .nice job .it takes a long time to grow fish like thoughts .beautful trout 10 years to grow 1 minute to kill doesn't make any sense to me .i love catching big salmon an Brooke's .great video thank you.
Very nice fish. I guess these trout are getting ready to spawn this time of year. In my area of eastern Canada the season closes September 7 and reopens in first of February for fishing.
What a beautiful video. A pleasure to watch. Is a polarized lense available for the Go Pro? The shots where you are playing the fish would look awesome with a polarizer. I think that you did a fine job of handling those fish. I catch similar size Brook Trout in Canada and know exactly how difficult they are to handle. Finally, thank you for your weight estimates. I'd say that you are pretty close. Some people that I know up here would call that last fish 8 or 9 lbs. I appreciate your honesty.
If you are interested in fishing for big brook trout in Northern New England, I recommend checking out the following book, Flyfishing Northern New England’s Seasons by Lou Zambello. It shares specific tactics and flies for each season of the year. Here is the amazon link: www.amazon.com/Lou-Zambello/e/B00H15TBI4 or go to his website: www.mainelyflyfishing.com
flyfish222 What type of fly were you using? and do you fish Maine at all? I fished the Magalloway River this weekend and slayed them on an Olive Wooly Bugger, do you have any tips?
As a fisheries biologist and guide for many years, might I suggest when playing the fish, move the tip of the rod from side to side instead of just holding the rod tip up. Moving the rod from side to side forces the fish to change direction each time thereby tiring the fish out faster, thus spending less time on the line which is better for the fish in a catch and release fishery.
It's because of "know it all" internet trolls, that I just eat all the fish I catch! Seriously, I watched very closely, and he didn't mishandle a single fish bad enough to upset them. I was catching trout since the 1960's and back then we didn't have snowflakes making up rules on fish handling. If you don't crush them or rip out their gills they will be just fine.
99% of Trout are eaten alive or die in some other kind of awful way, nature is brutal. Its not like they all live to old age and pass away gracefully surrounded by their families. But lay one wrong finger on one and the internet know-it-alls come down on you hard.
mrsookie You're math is very inaccurate. Firstly, there is around a 40% holdover rate, on average, in most states where trout have to be stocked. That means roughly 60% of them die. Of that 60%, more than half are taken by fishermen who never practice catch and release. These are streams that held wild trout before ' "know it all" internet trolls' decided to fish 3 quarters of all wild trout streams into extinction, and therefore must now be stocked. Before making a wildly inaccurate statement, realize that someone with more knowledge will always call you out on your b.s. I probably picked up your litter today. Thank you and goodnight.
Nice job, I love fishing for native brook trout they are getting harder to find and when you do they are very small. When you get a good sized book trout nine times out of ten it came from a fish hatchery.
Nice brookies, very colourful in the fall.. I thought it was a river in NB when I watched the video. Nice to know there are still places in the NE to hook are release big trout. Hope you've had some luck in the two years since you posted this video :)
To all fellow trout fisherman out there, if you're not already doing it flatten the barbs on your flies and use a pair of hemostats/forceps to grab the fly and give it a quick turn to remove it from the fish. You never have to touch the fish if you're doing catch-and-release. Not touching/holding a trout is much better for the fish. Just a thought.
I tend to agree. I pinch all my barbs these days. Not so much for the fishes health (I think fish are tougher than most people give them credit) but because its soooo much easier to release them
I've caught some big brook trout in the Ponds and Rivers in Maine near where I grew up in the West Forks and where my families camps are up by Abol on the West Branch and I too appreciate the honesty of your guesses. I've seen three trout over 6lbs caught in Maine but have only caught one over 5 lbs back when I was a kid where the South Branch enters Canada Falls Lake in September too. It was 24"s long and looked a lot like your last one. Back then we killed them. Nice job releasing them! :-)
Amazing fish. Would love to know what spots you enjoy fishing mid/late summer? I fish mostly forks area around Bingham but have yet to haul in anything from a river with that size. Maybe you wouldn't mind sharing a secret or two? From a fellow Maine fisherman, cheers!
What a great fish, this is what pa use to be about, last week I get only 6-9 inches but I am happy working on my photography book, I wish I can take good shoots of your trophies
Wow man they are some bad ass brookies you are hooking there great job, thanks for sharing. How is the sea run brookie fishing down there? I live just to the north of you and we have lots of speckled trout but them big boys are rare.Congrats man keep them vids coming man!
Unreal fish, man. Great job with the care as well. In my dreams I've caught brookies this big, but never in real life, and CERTAINLY not in creeks in Colorado. Nice work.
GOD DAMN!!! Nice fish man 👍 I live in York county and have never seen fish like that down here, don’t know where you are and I don’t want you to tell me but someday I hope I find ya!!! Planning a few trips north within the next couple months and early fall, can’t wait!!
Maine has lots of places to catch big brook trout. Don't be afraid to fish the small ponds. In my opinion, there are many more ponds with 3+lb brookies in them, than there are rivers. Good luck!
Wow what a beatiful river. love the rootbeer color. does it have other trout species? can I book a trip there? what time of year or are the brookies always that brilliantly colored?
Canadian hybrid brookies, awesome fish indeed...I do have a special place in the Adirondack mountains near the town I was born in where I do catch brookies in 4lb range
I am from NH and want to do some fishing in the backwoods of Maine...any County you would suggest fishing in? I am a spin fisherman and in upstate NH we have a lot of fly fishing only waters....
Those are beautiful brooks... I so wish I had a stream that held them that large. People around here dont know how to turn things back, hell you are lucky if you even see a brook here.
Im headed up to lambert lake maine this weekend, I was wundering if you know of any good brooks or small rivers to fish up there in that area, it will be my first time being that far in maine and I will be fishing wooly buggers, so if you know of any spots if could please let me know and thank you.?

One of the most beautiful fish in the world. Congrats.
What is most impressive here, besides the exceptional skill and incredible trout, is that the angler places the rod butt in his chest, and uses right hand crank on the reel. I would fish with this skilled angler any time. Great video!
Nice bookies there!
The thing that impressed me so much is how patient and methodical you are. I'd be freaking out catching such large, beautiful brookies!
Wow those brookies are amazing. You probably have some of the best maine fly fishing videos on youtube.
fantastic fishing action speaking for itself without screaming, hollering and hero commentary, thanks.
Bravo. The season is almost upon us. its been a long hard winter. I am an Adirondack brook trout Fisher man only family, friends and my dog mean more to me. Good luck to all in this 2019 fishing season and may the black flys be easy on us
It's because of anglers like you why these big beauties still exist. You are nature's friend and a damn good fisherman!
Brookie T's are my favorite fish too.

What state this
I totally need to vacation in Maine, those brookies were absolutely awesome. Great video.
I love watching your videos and I think I also fish the same waters as you. Perhaps we will share a cold one on the banks. Am I correct that this river eventually flows into "C" lake.. (speaking in code here)
wow awesome very big brook trout . what is your favorite fly

what exactly is a Brooke trout? another name for a brown trout?
+Max “Balisong republic” Mayer no it's own species
Fastbass123 Dean how can you tell the difference?
How can you not? :} google both species, it's pretty self explanatory

Brings back lots of memories to when I was younger. I grew up in central New Brunswick where the brooks brimmed with trout like these
Wow great fish, It's to bad the audio sucks so much for the go pros. anyone know anything you can do to make that better?
You are a very lucky man and I think you are undersizing those fish right down to the first one that you say is 10 or 11 inches
Seems like he did just fine. Caught some nice fish. The way he handeld them was fine.
Wow those are great. what state are you in? I live in Oregon and catch alot of beautiful browns on the river I live on and red ban bows. great vid
Amazing fish. Would love to know what spots you enjoy fishing mid/late summer? I fish mostly forks area around Bingham but have yet to haul in anything from a river with that size. Maybe you wouldn't mind sharing a secret or two? From a fellow Maine fisherman, cheers!
Criminy! Nice fish! Where is this? East Coast somewhere?
NICE!!! Haven't fished in Maine since '95...I must come back...
What a great fish, this is what pa use to be about,

Wow man they are some bad ass brookies you are hooking there great job, thanks for sharing. How is the sea run brookie fishing down there? I live just to the north of you and we have lots of speckled trout but them big boys are rare.Congrats man keep them vids coming man!
This is a lifetime of brookie trophies in one afternoon. Nice rod and reel. You should list your tackle.
Wow, I wish I could find some of those in PA! Unreal, Congrats
Try Penns Creek browns
Beautiful fish. I wish there were brookies around here of that size. The largest one i caught was about 16 inches!! Yours are like 26inches!!
Unreal fish, man. Great job with the care as well. In my dreams I've caught brookies this big, but never in real life, and CERTAINLY not in creeks in Colorado. Nice work.
Are these wild? Beautiful fish.
Beautiful fish! Brookies are my favorite, right up there with Grayling and Lakers:-)
GOD DAMN!!! Nice fish man 👍 I live in York county and have never seen fish like that down here, don’t know where you are and I don’t want you to tell me but someday I hope I find ya!!! Planning a few trips north within the next couple months and early fall, can’t wait!!

Those are some sweet fish man, any of those brooks would be trophies where I usually fish. Keep posting vids and tight lines!

Id love to catch brookies like that. Beautiful fish!
in awe of this video, red letter day or just another day? either way, beautiful fish.
Wow! Beautiful fish. Loved watching the fight.
Those are beautiful brooks... I so wish I had a stream that held them that large. People around here dont know how to turn things back, hell you are lucky if you even see a brook here.
Do you have issues with the fish and hook getting all tangled in it?
Is this the Rapid River section? In Wisconsin we have the Brule river, comparable.
Can’t b rapid river all catch release
Wow, where on earth is this? Are you fishing the Nipigon river?
Yep gorgeous brookies! Nice video....
Beautiful fish. Glad to see them being released.
UNREAL! Those are some awesome fish!
Years ago I used to catch brookies ike this in the upper Saint John River in Maine .. the're all gone now.
Where is this? What fly you are using? Nymphs? Streamers?
WHERE IS THAT RIVER ? I wanna fish there :)
Just came across this video; what a fantastic outing! Will subscribe to the channel! Great Stuff!
Must be northern ontario, quebec or Labrador. Nice nice fish and amazing colors
Im headed up to lambert lake maine this weekend, I was wundering if you know of any good brooks or small rivers to fish up there in that area, it will be my first time being that far in maine and I will be fishing wooly buggers, so if you know of any spots if could please let me know and thank you.?
Hey just wondering how long ur pole in this video is
Great video , nice Brookies !
Do you live in Canada?
Not sure about polarized lenses for the Go Pro. I think the fish eye view from the Go Pro's make the video's a little weird looking...
8-9lbs? haha - well i certainly wish they were that big!
I've been suscribed to your videos for a while and you have the best footage of big Native brook trout I've seen on you tube, I swear I saw you up north last may near loon lake near Caucmgomoc ?
Thanks!I fish all over the state of Maine but have not been in the Caucomgomoc area yet.
Good God...it's like this video should be on that show, "River Monsters". I've never seen Brook trout that big!
also what are you using for line 4x? 5x?
Whered you get your net from?
sweet I was thinking it looked heavier than a 4wt
Thanks guys
I fish all over Maine, so perhaps a cold one on the banks will evenually happen. We can talk about where those big ole brookie t's live. :-)
Where'd you get that net?
wild brook trout are hard to beat
Positively beautiful surroundings and fishing.
Amazing! I love brook trout to eat. Yum. Love to fish but love to eat them too.
What kind of fly are you using
just found the video, Nice fish mate!!!!! i've landed some nice 5lbers before, but its been years..... very jelly, but got a nice 24" landlock this year on a 4 wt. hope you're still crushing it!
There are places in New Hampshire you can catch Brookies that size too, but the biggest I ever seen were up in Cobscook area, Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, I saw 7-8 lbers being nailed one after the other by flycasters in those beaver dam ponds.
I read this comment and searched for this spot last season but no luck! gonna try again this year if your willing to shed some direction lol
Absolutely massive Brookies... well done!
What flies were u using??
