@@ben_angel as and when is required I switch from brush to pencil to brush. Even sometime I use pen tool if needed. I focus on creating art, not on tools.

In Adobe Illustrator, you can change the stroke profile of a path using the "Stroke" panel. Here's how you can do it: 1. Open Adobe Illustrator and create or open a document. 2. Not to worry. there are hundreds of tutorial that used pen tool and mouse for portrait illustration that you can follow. I did this tutorial exclusively on graphic tablet because that was not available on UA-cam, at least step by step.

It is a default brush in brush panel. Looks like a spot brush, but if you hover over on it, the tool tip will state it's nature

why doesn't my pencil thickness look the same as yours? no matter what i change the stroke to, it never changes. What am i doing wrong?
Pencil doesn't act as pressure sensitive. It is brush who has that characteristic.
