G82 M4 has a wide shoulder like a muscle car whereas G80 M3 has a wider fenders with no shoulder, like the traditional M cars. If you’re a long time BMW owner/enthusiast, you will naturally gravitate towards M3 than M4 for its reason. Beside BMW designworks and munich under hooydonk really ruined the M4 look making that long dash to axle a proper RWD proportion look like a FWD altima coupe. M3 still retains that BMWness a tutonic look even with a vertical grille. A manual S58 was also on my list of cars to get, a last ICE manual m car. With BRZ and Type R in order, i have to settle for upcoming M2 instead. Nice video and looking forward to an update on the G80
Exactly! You put into words so well what I’ve been thinking for a long time. Even though the M3 and M4 have a similar front-end, there’s no way I’m choosing an M4. The M4 has looked wrong from the start of this generation, and it hasn’t grown on me at all.
My biggest design gripe with the G82 was the rear fender/quarter panel was so long/massive that it detracted from the overall look of the car. Your eyes would just get lost in a sea of fender. With the rear doors on the m3 it makes the rear wheel arch look like it protrudes harder and it just looks more aggressive. Just my opinion.
@@caradd2967 yes i know exactly what you mean. It looks pinched and it’s not a good look. They made the fenders wider yet the rear door is just a carry over from a regular 3 sedan. It creates an unnatural reflection. It’s most likely due to a cost issue and not well planned out. It happens all the time during a vehicle development. I use to work in auto industry and you’re only allow set amount of money for each project. Most of the money spending probably went into performance upgrade first then visual upgrade but finance department would yell at them to keep the cost down so door couldn’t be replaced to accommodate the large upgraded fender
@@supersaiyan8732 I traded in my 2018 M3 competition for 23 M4 x Drive last week. It doesn’t have the updated dashboard. To be honest I’m disappointed so far. It is quieter and the transmission is not as good as the DCT. Hopefully things will change after the break in service.

Nice review and congrats on the car, it looks very sharp. Currently have a modified 340i with a 6 speed and I love the car however ive been itching to get into either a manual CT4 V BW or a g80 M3. Interesting review from your perspective on the cadillac, I also test drove a CT4 V BW and I fell in love with it. Honestly was a coin toss for me. The CT4 BW is definitely more stealth but equal performance wise. The only thing I'll point out is the aftermarket is way bigger for the M3 if you want to mod it.
Thank you for your honest opinions in the review. I am definitely now sold on the manual and looking to secure a build on one in my area. Great feedback. The Dravit Grey looks sharp. However, I am really not feeling the new Dash. It is a giant tablet that does not seem very intuitive. I guess I would have to learn to love it if I get a 2023 model. Now, I am on the fence between a manual and the xDrive. Really miss the engagement that MT brings to the driving experience but I am not sure if I would get tired of it eventually. Any thoughts?
New dash is less pretty and not intuitive for sure. Will probably take a few more miles for me to learn to use is efficiently. I am a die hard manual fan, probably to a fault. I know the autos, dual clutches etc would be faster for sure. But as someone that loves slam shifting and kicking clutches no auto will do it for me no matter how much faster.
Shame bmw couldn’t integrate that better into the contours of the dash. Always seems lazy when they just stick a tablet on top. M3 is stunning otherwise. Manual to the end.

@@frankiegaul8261 yes it screams S class not a sports sedan
Thanks bro. The car market is tanking despite all these prick dealers still asking ADMs. If I can get msrp or better in SoCal you can get it wherever you are.
@@caradd2967 I am in STL. I have a dealership here who does not charge above MSRP.
They are great 👍🏼.
Yes sir manual over auto 100% and let's stop feeding dealers Markups.
Agreed.
Are there the programmable buttons on the center console?
Love this content
Great video. Kinda annoyed I had to lookup the msrp haha
what dealer did you get this at ?
Cant see a sports sedan getting much better than this.
thought it was an electric BMW. i prefer my 2022 BMW M4 Comp in Brooklyn grey with the "Sofa" seats!
What exactly is LCI? I just ordered a 2023, do those come with LCI?
LCI is BMW’s special way of saying “pre-facelift.” Small changes before an actual facelift
What is LCI?
Life cycle and impulse basically a design update Midway through a product cycle I believe the lights are different
When iDrive is updated
ngl i prefer the m3 than m4 cuz it looks way better, they're the same car just different versions
Is this SoCal?
How do u negotiate not a penny more from msrp? Here in tx they make u pay thousands for delivery taxes dealer fees etc. And ifnu don't wanna buy it they don't care.
Your new tires need more than 120 miles to lose their factory "greasiness". That said - PS4S definitely a superior tire to whatever Pirelli is providing.
Lmaooooo bro crashed out at 9:47
A sunroof? Doesn't feel like you plan to keep it for long. Must be a lease to satisfy the itch.
I don't lease cars anymore I don't like getting locked in to long terms.
What dealership if you don’t mind me asking?
All I can say is it's a local dealership in the San Diego area.
no laser lights :(((
God I HATE the new dash HATE it.....I keep trying to convince myself it's not so bad and I cant....I'm a huge bimmer fan and this car is giving me so many compromises.
Love it!
The M3 and M4 have become GT cruisers. Nothing wrong with that. The days of flitting around corners like a ballerina are long past.
I'm not a fan of the new display at all, looks like it was bolted on as an after thought and not built into the car, I prefer the generation before.
Can someone please explain to me what G82 or G80 means? I never see it in the model names but people always mention it.
G80 is the M3, G82 the M4! G81 is the M3 Touring, G83 is the M4 Convertible :) These are the model denominations for the actual M3/4, the prior ones were the F8x. Hope it helps
@@johseb1 oh gotcha, thanks man.
My bad, bc I used the terms loosely. G80 is M3 and G82 is M4.
very nice m3 g80
Looks like the CU Later Grey on the supra
That dash .... wtf
In my opinion my g82 m4 looks wayy better than the m3 and i have 3 cars so if im taking my dog somewhere lol or family or some friends then ill take a different car like my rdx or tlx i mean is like saying oh im gunna trade my 911 or my lambo for a 4 door panamera because of practically lol is just my opinion plus my m4 is a 2022 and im happy I didn’t wait for that 2023 because that screen looks crazy big and uncomfortable to use but again just my opinion good luck to you.
Try to don't cross arms when driving!
Nice vid but please stop comparing a BMW Sports Linousine with a Prsche GT4 Sports car,. I had an E46 M3 for 12 years and loved every second i've spend in my car, sound was great but yeah you cannot compare it to a Porsche, you just can^t.
Something seriously wrong when a manufacturer cannot make their coupe look better than their saloon, that's the whole point of a coupe.
Agreed, but different stroked for different folks.
