Hey! Thank you for teaching me this trick live! I was totally lost. In just a few minutes, this man got me to learn the basics.

Woooow, this was sooooo funny. You were walking down the hill because you could not put your skis on. I fixed that with the second tip in this video and then you put your skis on using the first tip in this video. Then as a bonus I taught you how to lean out over your outside ski to turn in a wedge and in 5 minutes you were skiing down the slope in good style. For anybody reading this, Alejandro had never skied before. This was his first day. And his luckiest :)
Thank you for leaving this comment.
      All the best, Reg Tom

They should have this video on a loop at the rental shop.

I'm more intrigued seeing atomic skis with marker bindings

Good eye. They fit the Atomic plates perfectly. We have so many Comp20s and so many skis that it is mostly a financial decision as the new bindings are expensive. Next year I hope we will try to go full Atomic. On Chris GS skis we have the new ones from Atomic. Cheers, T

@@Triggerboy62Next year Atomic goes full Icon. XVar will be discontinued, bear in mind.

Wow, thanks for watching and for such good feedback. I also didnt know. Here is the back story. We were shooting the video and Edward comes along and says we are doing it all wrong. And then he did the magic trick. I was so stunned I didn't even do several takes from all sides. Cheers, T

And practice these drills until you're able to get up like Jan Zabystran in Kvitfjell:)

Great tips. But what I see mostly happening in real life is people not thinking clearly after the fall and acting on adrenaline and nervously.
The real trick is to keep a level head and think clearly. As simple as that... 🙂

Absolutely! As a ski instructor we try to build our students confidence and not to freak out. Cheers, T

Let alone the people that don’t even have the skills or fitness to get up on their own. Self-arresting after a fall on an icy steep can also be a problem, no-one teaches that in ski school (I learned the hard way ;-) )

Good tips! Many has problems to get up as half of the people are there without poles so it is more hard when you cannot use poles to help levering you up and helping keeping stabile on that effort. I keenly recall times we had Tyrolias rears opening diagonally sideways. But that was times when races wanted low bootsoles to "get near the ski!" as opposite nowadays all want to be 8cm out of the ski.

Great info. Thanks for sharing. I actually did not know we ever wanted low bootsoles to get near the ski. Makes sense. Cheers, T

Another tutorial! Thanks Tom. Would you recommend some more inside ski drills for carving, apart from ones in fix-a-frame video?

Sure. Have you seen my video on how to ski on one ski? There is a bunch of tips and drills. Cheers, Tom

Worked on a professional ski patrol for 10 years. Much easier way to do this maneuver by using a little more common sense.
Set up both skis in line, both feet below skis.....downhill foot crosses over into downhill ski, uphill foot into uphill ski. Works every where, steep or not but puts you in control of downhill ski immediately.
    Keep it simple,please. ⛷️❄️

Thanks for sharing, that is great advice. I realized as I made the video that I actually should have made a video of how to put your skis on instead of just handing out two tips that I thought were important. Much more important would have been a comprehensive video on how to put the skis on. Both at the start of your skiing session and also after crashing on the hill. Also, if the hill is steep or if its flat or if the snow is soft or the base is hard and icy.
