Ridley wants to avoid Malthusian outcomes, but he also wants tigers and rainforests - but tigers and other wildlife lives in a perpetual state of Malthusian misery, including sentient beings eating each other alive in very painful ways, thoughtlessly. I am all for more prosperity but we shouldn't spend it on more suffering and agony, even if it is natural.
