Stake a couple bales of straw at the top of the area where you’re concerned about erosion. Hope the spring heads you pointed out is not coming from the main pond.

Thanks for the video Adam ! For irrigation you may want to try a shallow well pump ($170 at HFT.) they are set to pump up to 50 psi (which is 115 feet of lift.) You would want to put a strainer/filter on the intake end check or foot valve. I use some thick socks or absorbent painting glove. A 1/2” impact sprinkler will use 3-4 gallons a minute depending on pressure and nozzle size so this pump may run 3 of them at a time.

a couple of suggestions on the ponds: after the new pondb it stabilizes, add some grass eating carp to keep it clean...you may even want to add some to the upper pond. they work wonders. here in northeast CT, you have to get. permit to get them, and you are limited as to how many you can get, as a non native species. they keep my pond super clean and grass/lily free. also, consider planting some weeping willows down by the new pond. they will look beautiful down there, and they need and love it wet.

Rural Pumping Solutions makes solar powered pumps that can move water uphill as much as 1000'. I've seen it work on another channel, and would certainly make your setup pretty seamless. Especially if you route the overflow back to the retention pond, creating a cycle so that neither pond dries up.

Maybe even just have a 2 x 500w solar panels power it so it could stay running the majority of the sunny day with no extra input from you.

Just putting this out there for you. With those two ponds, do you have a backup plan for dealing with muskrats? They'll create holes for their bank dens.

Great video, Adam! You truly deserve a win. Seeing three generations working together is such a proud moment, and thank you for sharing it. I'm curious, how long did your portable power keep the pump running before you had to recharge it?

About 2.5 hours or so. I have 2 of them so I just kept recharging one while the other was running

Do you have enough property on the low end to drop a drain pipe and put a ram hydraulic pump in?
