I don't know what the big deal is with all the talk of repetition. It's not that repetitive. There's tons of subtle changes going on; the timbre and EQ shifting and layering are fascinating. It's so well mixed. It's hypnotic and compelling.
I think it's one of those things you just can't explain to people really, you either "get" it or you don't. That being said, as a long time listener of repetitive dance music, Ricardos music can be a challenging listen even for me 😀
This song is originally called Pobjednicki Cocek by Bakija Bakic who won the first place in the contest for the best trumpet called Guča, a traditional Serbian trumpet festival.
Haven't heard this track in years, but it's still amazing. Used to put it on whenever I went to buy groceries. Made me feel like a character in a video game.
Villalobos played this last Sunday @ Fabric birthday, sounded nice on that super soundsystem! Raresh mixed it with another track for a good few minutes, one of many unique moments from Fabric's 18th birthday.

it's a picture from an old anatomy book, that's how they are always presented. if you look closely, you can see that quite a lot of functional parts have been exposed so students can learn them. the serene smile is 19th century politeness. of course there may have been a real head too, or many which are combined into one teaching image. but the ''injuries'' are just anatomy conventions.
I can see this would be an... acquired taste, but there's so much intricacy in the mix to keep yourself occupied with. If this is indeed a stroke of genius, it's of the mad variety.

how music tells stories. some of the modern electronic artists are poets but i always enjoyed the storytelling of villalobos' music. it's personal, no biggies, no epics...

Joao Vitor Freitas 🤣

I like the part with the trumpet
Good track, a bit short but good overall

kind of short for a solid K trip though
Ricardo’s 7 Yard Mix - it’s all about that snare and the endless changes to the delay panned off to the left. Monster production.
When ever he changes the beat and the trumpets disappear, you want them to come back so desperatly.
