Technologically this was the first year any digital DJing really gathered any pace, laptops seemed to be popping up for various reasons in clubs and all of a sudden making sounds at home without a massive studio became possible.. the music was at the perfect point - all the music I love - dnb, techno, trance, hip hop - everything - as there seemed to be a desire to move into a futuristic direction, away from the analogue - for better or worse - this part in the middle was so fucking real - the internet was bringing people together, not tearing us all apart, we were connected, we were young - well I was anyway... Any way, Big Love for this upload all the way from London and big love to RV and his many disciples.
Around that time I heard him for the first time. It was on a party called Beat Street at Hasenheide. It was pure magic on a Sunday morning. The sound and people‘s behavior had been unreal. At that time it was very often said that Berlin hadn‘t been cool, anymore. Well, my raving years were 2001-2007 and there was lots of badass sounds, but often mediocrity, either. I think it‘s important to grow on being open-minded. Techno is brillant, but other genres have their own peak qualities, as well. Keep on rocking 🌳
