Oh for the battery I got the 6-hour battery for my camera that they have for the Sony z90 and I never run out of battery time so I bought like five of them
Hi! It's me again. I've just bought the Z90 and am not familiar with sooo many Picture Profiles. Which ones would be more suitable for: 1) cinematic look, 2) documentary look, 3) TV news, and 4) sports? I'd love to try them all by myself, but my 21 months-old son doesn't let me play with my new toy. Thanks in advance!
Hi Thanks for the review! I have a stupid question: In the specs of the Z90 not also noted XAVC S HD (1920 x 1080) @120p, 100p 100Mbps as on the Pages for NX80 an AX700 Z90 pro.sony/en_SV/products/handheld-camcorders/pxw-z90 NX80 pro.sony/.../prod.../handheld-camcorders/hxr-nx80... I think the Z90 can this to can`t it? Greetings
Simple. Is portability more important to you that have all three ring controls and a few more buttons? Apart from that, I think they're basically the same camera.
Thank you for good information. Planing to buy one next week. I think i watched all your z90 videos now, and I feel pretty safe about the quality now :D Btw is there Bluetooth on the camera, for wireless headphones? And/or are you still using the Trond??
No Bluetooth, I'm afraid. I don't use the Trond anymore but I have a number of other Bluetooth devices that I occasionally use but I still find the delay too high so if someone is speaking, it's just too irritating :-)
Well that might always happen. If you need a camera, don't worry about the latest and greatest specs. If this camera works for your needs, I doubt your needs would change just because there's a nice new shiny one. A lot of people dismiss this camera due to the lack of 4K 60p. Nice to have but, in reality, the target market for this camera don't need it to get the job done. Hope that makes sense.
@@tdcattech ok but it says 4k what am i not understanding sorry but I am dyslexic and sometimes I have a hard time understanding certain things can you please explain what you're saying Sorry
At a glance, the main differences I noticed is the built in support for on-screen graphics on streams on the JVC. It will also support 4K 60p via the HDMI out. The Z90 supports 10-bit colour in HD and has a larger 1” sensor. It also has S-LOG profiles. The JVC doesn’t mention this but it may also have their variant as standard. Similar cameras but will the usual small differences.

Interesting video - thanks. I’m thinking of buying the NX80 or the Canon XF400, do you have thoughts on the advantages / disadvantages of each? - Peter
If it's important, the fact that the XF400 has 4K 60p will decide it for some. From what I've seen, it also has better stabilisation but, as seen in this video, the Z90 isn't bad at all. Overall though, the consensus seems to be (I'm remaining vague as I haven't used the XF400) that the image quality on the Sony range is simply better using an oversampled image reduced to create 4K. It's sharper and clearer. Plus, in my opinion, Sony colours are much more faithful. I struggled with my XF100 and my Panasonic to get good skin tones. I never have that problem with the Z90. As usual, swings and roundabouts :-)
Have you experienced any problems with the XLR connectors by any chance ? (The camera not switching to XLR inputs when a mic is connected through XLR) Trying to figure out if this is a known issue or just a freak occurence. Thanks.
The auto setting doesn’t work for the XLR mics. I think that’s just to switch between the onboard mic and the 3.5mm mic input on the main camera. In my experience, you have to select the handle audio manually.

Hi. What's the microphone you use? I have a problem because when I record for example a zoom in I hear the noise of the electric motor. The external microphone picks up the noise. I've tried different microphones and it's always recorded. Is it the same with you? thank you
I use an NTG-3 on camera or a lav mic. I’m not sure if zoom motor noise is a problem. I would rarely zoom during a shot and, if I did, the audio it was carrying probably wouldn’t matter. I’ll have to try it.
I'm thinking about getting the Sony z90 but still not sure yet I know the handle can be removed but then how do you carry it around is there a handle that should be replaced of that handle so I know it's got that thing on the top where you can plug in another type of microphone but I already have a directional Mike and I got a handheld mic so I'm not sure what I'm doing yet
Enjoy hearing your candid thoughts. Would be interested in how you would compare this to the DVX200, especially in terms of focusing, stabilization, and color accuracy.
FOCUS: Manual focusing on the DVX200 is much much nicer. Control wise, it's better overall because of the three rings and the size. Auto focus is a different story. It's vastly more powerful on the Z90 but really just because it's a more modern system. There are some nice features on the DVX200 but it's a manual focus camera IMHO. STABILIZATION: Probably about the same. The Z90 isn't amazing and neither is the DVX200. COLOR ACCURACY: Z90 without a shadow of a doubt. I never struggle to get accurate colours and tones on all my Sony cameras. I don't really have to think or worry about it. I find the DVX200 a constant battle.

The cost of 64GB in 2022, just go for the best you can get. Here's a link to a very suitable Sandisk card which is less than £20! --- geni.us/sdisk64

The audio on this video (I assume that’s what you mean) is directly from the XLR in on the Z90 recorded using the NTG3 mic. No EQ and no compression.
