    I have the 2014 model of this and I would buy it again if I had to do it over. The increased weight over the ninja makes it feel more stable on the highway at speeds 80mph +. Not so fast where you will get in trouble but not so slow to where it's not fun. Also, this is a full size bike as to where the r3 and 400 I did not fit very well.

    Better to hear a friendly voice read the specs than to stare at the website. That middle-south accent ain't so bad either. I'm looking at bikes from a returning rider perspective. I really want that 1100 twin with the electronic rider modes like the AT and new Rebel to show up in a sport touring bike. But this 500R or the 500X is a sane way to get back up on two wheels for sure.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 роки тому +1

      lol! When my family first moved us out here to TN from CA, people told me I spoke too proper and I stuck out because I didn't have an accent. Now, after listening to myself talk more and more on video - I'm coming to the realization, the south is starting to rub off on me.
      You're 100% correct. The 500s are a very sane way to get back on 2 wheels and still have a blast at the end of the day but if you're a fan of horsepower, that 1100 AT / Rebel is an animal and will definitely plaster a smile across your face.
      Thanks for the kind words too, really appreciate it bud ;)

      Yeah, it'd be nice if they made a "mini-me" CBR1000RR and stole the fairings and turn signals etc off of it. This is more of a middleweight sports touring bike. I would rather travel a long distance on the 500r rather than the n4. Its very efficient and has a full size front tire and a 160 in the rear I believe. More fuel capacity and more fuel efficient. At 6'2" the 500r is considerably more comfortable. Trackday hooligan bike n4 all the way. Plus with the larger engine I bet you could build the 500r plenty. Some company advertises cams that are a 8hp drop in. Honda tuned it down for a2 licensing or I bet it would have been a little more performance oriented. Really they are completely different bikes.

    Does the center stand from the X model fit on this bike? Doesn’t show it as an accessory

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 роки тому +1

      Good question! Technically, it doesn't fit as in you can't just bolt it on and go but you can make a centerstand work with some "adjustments". It'll take a few paragraphs to explain what others have done but instead of taking up all of your time, here's a few link to where guys have gotten around it and installed a centerstand on their CBR500R:

      That's a shame but very common right now due to all of the delays with Honda being able to get units out because of the corona situation. I've had many models pushed back month after month. Crazy times for sure! Are you going with the pearl white or matte gray metallic?
      Best of luck with everything and if you decide to venture out from your local dealer and need help sourcing one just let me know.

      @@HondaProKevin I am going for grey metallic. Well they had them there but not the ABS models, I wanted the ABS for safety since I just got my permit last july but im a little on edge cause my permit is gonna expire soon. I really wanted to ride and practice some more. Last time I went to take my test it took 9 hours total, the test itself took me less than 15 minutes. It is crazy how long our lines are in Minnesota. I wanted the CBR500R due to the fact that its a middle bike, not too slow not too fast. I hope I get one soon. I am missing out in alot of riding oppurtunity.

      I bought the 500 cbr first time rider I was divided between the 2 as well. However I have not yet actually rode my bike because I bought it prior to getting license. I’m also 5’4 and cannot flat foot it do I’m lowering it 3 inches.
      I second guess myself after buying it because of not being able to touch the ground and to me bike has a good weight to it - the ninja 400 was a very comfortable weight for me I didn’t feel it was too heavy . The reason I opted to get 500 is because I don’t want to get Too comfortable on bike. A lot of ppl suggested to get - a 500 or 600 because after a season you will want a bigger one honestly I’m not going to be acting crazy so either would have been fine.
      My advice - be comfortable if you are an experienced rider definitely go with the 500. Hope this helps and ride safe

    What do you guys think about the New Pearl White paint option for 2021 in the USA? Also, what do you guys think about Honda removing the option of buying ABS and making it a standard feature? Would that alter your decision process on a bike if you can't buy it without ABS?
    ☆ Disclaimer: I'm trying to make these better so thank you for bearing with me as I try these new video styles out. Thank you for the support, I really appreciate it guys!

    • @LT33190
      @LT33190 3 роки тому +1

      I haven’t seen an up close video of the paint until now and I’m surprised with how amazing the pearl white looks. However, I don’t like the Neon fluorescent accents. I say the 2013 white/red/blue, 2018 white/red and 2019 red/white models are the best looking color schemes for the Cbr500r.
      I own the 2019 Cbr500r in Grand Prix red with ABS and love the bike. The option of not having abs would not alter my bike purchasing decision.
      Great video man, keep it up!

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 роки тому +2

      @@LT33190 Oh yeah, pictures don't do Honda's pearl white paint justice and it's hard to catch just how much it pops on video. The bright fluorescent accents are definitely a love or hate, it'll be interesting to see how sales for this color go in the USA compared to everywhere else that has had it before.
      Personally, I'm a sucker for the red / white scheme they did on your 2019+ model but I may be a bit biased as all of my CBRs have been red and my Grom and of course the CRFs which only come in red. I'm surprised Honda ditched it as an option, it's a rarity when you can't buy a CBR in red.
      Thanks for answering the ABS question. After selling them for almost 15 years now it seems like the vast majority of people that have owned an ABS model, will buy another and it becomes a requirement for that next purchase. The guys that have never owned one with it, usually talk down on it and say they don't want it etc. Very similar to how DCT automatic transmissions have went over.
      Thanks man, really appreciate the kind words...

      I have one that is non ABS, and I wouldnt get one with ABS as Im an experienced rider and I dont like not being able to lock up the rear tire, then again this is a beginner to mid bike so it fits the market, although Id have to find someway to disable it. The pearl white is cool too, I really like it and want to get a kit for mine that does it. Having non ABS is way safer for an experienced rider while having abs atleast on the front is probably better for beginners.
