You're doing well guys. We are hiding from 50 knots at the moment and just did a big passage for us. A whole 24 hours. Keep the vids coming and may the weather gods be with you.
That is the electronic Tiller Pilot. It does a better job than the bunji but uses some electricity. We use the bunji when we want to save the batteries.
Great video as always guys...The look on chuck's face (starting at 5:39) when powdered eggs and mushy sweet potatoes were mentioned, was priceless. Bad experience chuck?
Hi Chris, We did reply on our Channel Comments " No passion Chris. We are just cheap. We have four good headsails and do not want to spend the money to change to a roller. Besides, Laura enjoys playing on the foredeck." Aloha!
I am on my 3rd book now about learning to sail, "Sailing Essentials" All You Need To Know by Steve Sleight. The other two books were , "The Everything Sailing Book by Michael & Nikki Smorenburg and "Learning To Sail" by Dennis Conner & Michael Levitt. The first two we got from the public library. This new one we got at Barnes & Noble. So I guess this was the first $20 invested. Oddly I feel we have officially declared we are learning to sail. It has been a few weeks now and I am actually feeling a strange link to people I see in their sailing videos and inside marine stores. You know when you get to a stage that you know and can recall enough things on a subject that you have less questions about it? I am feeling like I am almost there mentally. Your videos are funny, informative and inspiring. When I watch them, I want to go out and shop for a sailboat. I want to stand at the bow and sing, "I am sailing... I am sailing.... Home again, across the sea". Then I realize it may creep out the person selling the boat. Anyways, thanks for your videos and my wife said I can not sing that song while we are sailboat shopping.
Awesome video guys. Do you have any plans of ever making it to the Atlantic? It would be fun to sail with you. I never heard back as to why you don't like roller furling.
The trash is depressing. I went on a cruise from Seattle to Alaska and back in June 2013, and I saw a lot of trash. Some people just don't get it. The ocean is not a trash can. There is life in these seas. Fish eat it, and can get sick and die from it. Plus, not everything sinks, and depending how far out you are and the winds and waves, debris can float for years before reaching land and sometimes may never reach land. If it's not edible, or disposable, keep it on your boat until you get to port.
Thank you Gary, we miss her very much.

Hate to see the litter but love the video footage of the ocean and sea state. Thank you for the series

enerZise At sea you can sing to your heart's content, and we do; often.
Evil? Us? Nooooooo, LOL Good Luck with the sea trials and say "Aloha" to Drake for us.
Selfishly I am going to hate to see you guys make Alaska.....Love being out there with you guys....
We wanted to pick up stuff as well but on a small boat like ours there isn't any extra storage space. Hard to watch it just float by.
Love your travels. Hope someday to duplicate. Any storm troubles out there in the middle of the largest ocean on earth?

And yes, the Atlantic is in the crystal ball but still a bit cloudy

hello i notice you are not having the bungee steer the boat you have something different what is it. thanks in advance.
Did you really listen to bongo drums the whole way?
Just a quick note. Eggs and sweet potatoes > Burgoo
I looked up that book behind you ("Knowing the ropes") at Barnes and Noble. It was 474 USD!!! Is that what you paid? Or where did you find it?
You can get it used at Amazon for like $3
why would any normal person sail fromHawaii to Alaska?
LOL!! We have never considered ourselves normal.
It wasn't the trip, that's awsome it was the time of the year you went!
