This is all footage of ghosts now. I cut down a lot of this equipment and a lot more was cut down before me. Thank you so much for preserving this. Entire working lives were spent in this place...
I always liked to see if anyone was going to try to pick up the coins on the steps where you started the tour from the parking lot..Dad told me who did that but I've forgotten who ...
@@garyjohnson6640 are you any relation to Pete Johnson or Allan? Pete was a Machinist at PL and Allan taught welding at CR...and used to have Johnson brothers machine in fortuna. I had a good time at CR in Allan's class...learned a lot from him...old school methods as well.
I saw the tour several times I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, and I am happy to see your video! Not only are there no more tours, I think this whole section of the mill is demolished or will be demolished soon.
I had three generations of family that worked for PL..then that texan got ahold of it...I never worked there....I was one of Harry's boys ie LP.The old mills are gone now .eel river,PL,LP...and l know how it feels to be sold out .. I'll always remember the night at LP when we were told PL bought the Carlotta mill...we thought we were getting a pay cut.... rumors. Earth first still leaves a dirty taste...
My first tour through the old mill was in 1962. I was very impressed with the giant bandsaw. My dad worked on the Green chain line sticking Lumber.
Thanks for sharing! We did this tour in 88 or 89 and it was one of the most interesting things I have ever seen.

I remember the stairs as a young kid back in the early or mid 60’s. I remember there only being one coin back then. And yep, I tried to pick it up!
